I have only used it now for several games, so I might change my rating with more use. Two things that I don't like on this version include the gps battery life and the rubber eye-piece. If you put the unit in its case with the eye-piece up you run the risk of it coming off as you pull the unit back out of the case. Minor, but an inconvenience. More concerning is that fact that Bushnell went with a two battery system on this unit vs the prior single rechargeable battery. In this new unit, you have a built-in rechargeable battery that powers the gps, and a replaceable CR2 battery that powers the laser. In the prior unit where both were powered by the built-in rechargeable battery, it would easily last 3 or more games before requiring a recharge. And even if the charge dropped to the point where the gps would no longer function, you could still use the laser to finish out the round. In the new version, the built-in rechargeable battery is supposed to last 3 rounds but so far hardly makes it through 2 rounds.
My problem is with the GPS that has the rechargeable battery. The documentation indicated you should be able to play 2 rounds before having to recharge the battery. I was never able to get 2 rounds. And about a year after I purchased my unit, I was lucky to get a full round. Recently the rechargeable battery lasts about 9 holes (if I’m lucky). I wish I would have never bought or recommended this to my friend.
There is nothing in the manual that states you can replace the rechargeable battery. I contacted Bushnell and asked them if they could replace the rechargeable battery, and they indicated it could not be replaced, and the unit could not be repaired. They offered an $80 discount on a new unit. I paid over $400 for the my original unit, and I’m not too happy about their offer.
I really liked the GPS feature on this unit, but it no longer works, and I wouldn’t dare buy another one of these hybrid units. And I have another friend to whom I recommended this unit, and he is having the same issue.
If you’re looking at this unit for the GPS feature, DON’T BUY IT.
