Note: If you're a true professional, don't bother... you'll need the extra features of a high-end multimeter. But for tooling around a shop or home, this is spot on perfect.
The temperature sensor is a welcome feature and the LED light on top helps in dark corners of a build. The leads are quite sturdy and don't appear to suffer from weakening sleeves around the wires. The readout is very easy to see in all but the dimmest light. And the case it comes in is great. It's very much worth the money.
My only complaint is a minor quibble. The stand doesn't lock into place and relies on gravity to maintain balance. That's fine on a flat surface, but I don't always work on a flat surface. Again, minor.
Amprobe is an excellent supplier with quality meters, especially for their normal price. Their meters offer functionality other do not for the same price point. They're parent company is Fluke, they have the means to develop proper meters. I own a few of their meters, and have had not problems with them. The Amprobe meters have been hard to find lately, with new quoted lead times into many months.
The seller RadDEALS is at fault for disingenuous advertising. This meter is not described with verbage as used or refurbished. It is also listed with the full seven accessories listed including: AM-530 meter, test leads, temperature probe, hanging strap, users manual, 9VDC battery, and carrying case. This meter is also historically sold for $80-$100. This seller was scalping 50% retail for hot used garbage.
I receive a meter that was obviously used from RadDEALS. The packaging itself even showed aged (like moisture) beyond shipping wear and tare. There is all kinds of scratches and blemishes. There is even dirt under the screen protector, which means some carelessly had the meter apart and even removed the main board at some point. This meter arrived with an old battery that had failed and leaked acid, including into the main board. The meter and carrying case was all that was in the packaging. Accessories missing include: good 9V battery, test leads, temperature probe, user manual, and hanging strap. I did try a new battery to see if the meter functioned. It did power on, but was giving inaccurate readings.
Absolutely awful experience RadDEALS. Some people need to trust their lives to their DMM's. I need a new TRMS meter, and I guess I'll be forced to fork out the extra money for a Fluke with this supply chain.

This meter does everything I want, and then some. The case is really nice to have as well as I often cart the meter around for auto tasks, remote battery work (sometimes the charger and battery aren't handy).
My only minor disappointment is I thought the remote voltage feature would indicate actual sensed voltage, but in reality it merely indicates the presence of an AC voltage greater than 90V with a "beep". Still a good feature, just not as cool as I hoped it would be.
Otherwise it's a good quality meter with excellent features for a very reasonable price.
meets IEC/EN, CE, CSA standards
tested in CSA-recognized Fluke test labs(Amprobe website)
Cat III 600V rating
Fused current inputs
also like the MIN/MAX, low volt and low current functions, reputable company, price.
Upon receiving the meter, we were happy with the rugged well-built feel and accuracy(volt/current/resistance/freq) compared against a Fluke 289.
For a student, commercial or light industrial, would highly recommend this meter.
After using this meter for only a few days I've decided to return it and purchase a Klein Tools MM420. I found the NCV function does not work at all with metal device boxes (nothing but in my house), and only about 50% of the time on exposed romex cable. But the thing I just couldn't get past was the selector layout. They must have had a good reason for it, but I can't imagine what it was.
Now don't get me wrong, this is a robust, well-built multimeter, with great specs. But as an average homeowner and hobbyist, the flaky NVC feature is likely going to get me into serious trouble. With the money I'll save on the Klein, I can buy a good, stand-alone NCV probe, that won't get me killed.
