Stellar Acoustic-electric Cutaway from PRS

The SE A60 Angelus represents classic PRS quality in an affordable acoustic-electric that is designed for effortless live performance. Featuring a solid Sitka spruce top and ziricote back and sides with a smooth cutaway, the A60 produces wonderful acoustic tone that is steeped in crisp top end with just the right amount of low-end coloring for a well-rounded, full tone. And when you are ready to plug in, the onboard Fishman Sonitone electronics produce wonderful amplified acoustic tone. Take it from our acoustic guitarists here at Sweetwater — onstage or in the studio, this PRS is the real deal!

X-brace/classical hybrid bracing

PRS's proprietary X-brace/classical hybrid bracing method blends the techniques of some of the most legendary acoustic guitar luthiers in history. This bracing pairs a resonant top with a stiff and reflective back and sides, offering a powerful tone that doesn't mask the intricacies of your playing style. The SE A60 also has a genuine bone nut and saddle for added tonal support and resonance, along with a gorgeous ebony bridge.

Fine tonewoods meet signature PRS appointments

The PRS SE A60 Angelus features an Angelus body with a solid spruce top and laminated ziricote back and sides. The neck of this A60 Angelus follows Paul Reed Smith's wide neck shape and is carved from choice mahogany. A bound ebony fingerboard gives the neck a smooth feel and rich tones. And the signature bird inlays denote the Angelus as a member of the PRS family. The SE A60 Angelus manages to strike the perfect balance between modern, eye-catching adornments and a traditional acoustic appearance.

Fishman pickup system provides excellent sound onstage

The Fishman Sonitone under-saddle pickup system continues to win over players across genres for its pristine translation of acoustic tone. That's why PRS outfitted their SE A40 Angelus with a PRS-voiced Fishman Sonitone pickup. Enjoy the dynamic, natural sound of the Sonitone, and shape your acoustic's sound to your liking with its individual rotary controls for master volume and tone. And the controls' low-profile design does away with unsightly electronics dominating the look of your guitar.

PRS SE A60 Angelus Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Acoustic-electric cutaway with solid spruce top delivers nuanced clarity and projection
  • Ziricote back and sides provide warm and rich sound
  • Fishman Sonitone under-saddle pickup system provides stellar amplified tone
  • Mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard is playable and responsive
  • Large yet comfortable body style gives you excellent acoustic projection
  • Cutaway offers upper-fret access for single-note melodies
  • Eye-catching abalone/figured maple binding and rosette
  • Genuine bone nut and saddle add enhanced tone support

Endless sustain, remarkable projection and clarity

For the price you can't go wrong with this PRS beauty. I've been playing mine for about a year now, and I love it. It has a balanced an crystal clear tone with rich bass and snappy highs. It plays easy with excellent action, true notes at every fret, and seemingly endless sustain. The binding, rosette and bird fret inlays give it a distinct appearance that looks great whether I'm playing alone in my studio or onstage. Tuners are smooth and accurate, and Fishman pickup is just icing on the cake.
Music background: Guitarist since 1975, Pro since 1986. I play finger style and flat pick both.

Affordable PRS Quality

I don't normally purchase an instrument without getting my hands on it first. However, I pulled the trigger on a "Demo" model and I'm so glad I did!!

This thing plays like a dream and sounds just as good as it looks! The ziricote back has beautiful grain pattern (it was the reason I jumped on it). And being a fan of ebony fretboards, it was exactly what I was looking for. The neck is thicker than other guitars, but is comfortable.

I have yet to plug in and hear the pickup/preamp. It sounds so good acoustically. Simply playing with a mic in front of it will render rich, crisp tones when recording or playing live. It doesn't have the same depth in the low end that a Martin will give, but it's very warm. It's pretty balanced sonically much like a Gibson but at a more affordable price point.

From looks to feel to sound this guitar doesn't disappoint. And it comes with a hard case! Bonus! I'm extremely happy with my decision to purchase this guitar.

Stunning visually and audibly

I'll freely admit that I am a PRS fanboy, but PRS is not widely known for their acoustics. So, I started doing some research as I have a desire to start diving into the acoustic realm from the world of electrics. I looked at Martin, Taylor, Yamaha, Breedlove, etc etc. Poured over reviews, watched video after video, and came to the same conclusion. Dollar for Dollar this is one hell of a guitar compared to its competitors. Its visually stunning to look at, its comfortable to play, the action difference between an electric is not very noticeable. It sounds wonderful, probably would sound better if I could play decently but that's my problem HAHA. It comes with a hard case. I had some concerns since some of the videos I watched complained about the guitar not being setup well, that's why I bought if from Sweetwater. The whole 55 point inspection was my way of guaranteeing that would not be an issue. Packaging wise it came in a box(sweetwater) that was inside a box (prs) that was inside the hard case. I let it acclimatize for 2 days, pulled it out and this guitar resonates BIG TIME.....
For the price you can't go wrong with this guitar, just take some care as where you buy it....

PRS hits it out of the park!

You cannot beat the quality of this instrument at this price point, let alone the visual aesthetics. A well-balanced tone that really opens up and grows the more you dig in and explore what this acoustic can do. Adorned with beautiful abalone trim and bird inlays coupled with the figured curly maple binding along the body, neck, and headstock offers a gorgeous, yet subtle, depth of visual satisfaction. Well set up with great action up and down the neck that fits perfectly in my hand. This acoustic is an import that has, in my humble opinion, served notice to its American made counterparts.

Suprised it was that good

I had the PRS SE P20E first and have to say for the extra $ this is a huge difference. Maybe due to size of the guitars but I like the low and mid tones so much better with the 60. I also have a few Martins and a Taylor, and have to say this is about in line with their similar priced models, so you won't be disappointed in the choice for this price.

You don't even have to play guitar to know that PRS instruments are in a league of their own. With their exquisitely figured tops and premium appointments, each PRS is a playable work of art. But it goes way deeper than the surface. Every time Paul visits Sweetwater, we get a deeper look at his amazing instruments. We've even hosted several PRS Custom Shop events, complete with Paul's personal Wood Library! Whether they're his most affordable SE electric guitars, top-quality acoustics, or amps, it's always amazing to see what PRS comes up with. What's more, we keep a ton of PRS guitars in our amazing Guitar Showroom, so the staff at Sweetwater can get hands on with all of their latest models. We'd love to tell you all about them.
