Excellent all-purpose cartridge, fantastic value

Excellent all-purpose cartridge, fantastic value
I purchased this cartridge for my Technics turntable. I listen to a lot of music from the '50s, '60s, and '70s. I also occasionally listen to pop/rock from the '80s and '90s, as well as classical/instrumental and opera. My Shure M44G does a great job with the '50s/'60s/'70s stuff, but I wanted another cartridge that would handle the '80s/'90s/classical/opera music a bit more accurately and with better treble response. I did a lot of research, and the AT95E seemed to meet most of those requirements, so I purchased one and installed it on my Technics.I've been using it for about a month and I'm quite happy with it thus far. It is slightly brighter/clearer than the M44G, but I still consider it to be a fairly warm and rich cartridge, and the bass response is fantastic. The tracking force is set at 2 grams. It skipped severely, even on clean/perfect records, when I tried to run it at 1.5g and 1.75g. At 2g it tracks pretty securely. Your results may vary, depending on your turntable and tonearm.(If you're unsure about the accuracy of your turntable's counterweight and/or if you find it difficult to accurately balance your tonearm, do yourself a huge favor and get a stylus force gauge! It's a huge timesaver and ensures accuracy. I recommend the Signstek Digital Stylus Force Gauge.)There is some inner groove distortion, but it's slightly less noticeable than the inner groove distortion I get with my M44G. (Both cartridges were aligned with a Technics overhang gauge.)Unfortunately it doesn't come with any instructions on proper alignment, so make sure you figure this out beforehand. There are free alignment protractors that you can find online and print on your home printer, or you can buy a pre-made protractor. If you have a Technics turntable, a Technics overhang gauge is a cheap and easy way to achieve good alignment. Regardless, make sure you align it and don't just put it randomly in your headshell. Proper alignment is VERY important with this cartridge. For the price, I don't think there's a better general purpose cartridge out there.
