About the Author

James Yang's prize-winning work has appeared in many magazines and newspapers, including Graphis, Newsweek, Forbes, Fortune, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal. He is the author/illustrator of Bus! Stop!, Joey and Jet, Joey and Jet in Space, and Puzzlehead.

The designer of "Clockman," a sculpture on display at the National Museum of American History, Mr. Yang and his wife live in New York City.

James Yang is the 2020 ALA Geisel Award winner for Stop! Bot! which is awarded to the best American picture book for beginning readers. His 2022 APALA-ALA Honor Picture Book Title for Asian American Literature, "A Boy Named Isamu" has been called by Kirkus Reviews "A marvel of prose, illustration, and design". His book "Bus! Stop!" was selected as an outstanding picture book by the New York Times.

James has won over 250 awards for his illustration and his subway wallpaper can be seen on trains in the New York City Metropolitan Transit system. James currently lives in Brooklyn where he happily works for a variety of clients and books. To learn more about James please visit www.jamesyang.com

Of course this is now a MUST have book as it was voted the #1 children'd author-illustrated book in all of 2019 books published. We LOVE the book and it's vertical format. The art is magical and the story is wonderful. My wife and I couldn't more highly recommend this book, which we bought as a gift for friends w/grandkids 2-3 yrs old. I didn't know about the award, so, I attached an image you can click onto learn more about it.

My daughter loves the part where it says We need More Bananas! It's a simple picture book with only a few words on each page, but the story is funny and toughing. Recommend it to young readers to enjoy!

This is deliciously imaginative, fun and visually captivating picture book for kids. I loved all the little quirky details that made pause and look around the page for more.
