Happy reading everyone!

Happy reading everyone!
I have got to give the author props. She took A LOT & put it in this book! There's love, loyalty, hope, friendships, hate, family, magic, & heartbreak! You would think with all of that the flow of the book would be off or you wouldn’t get the rich details or have loose ends but there is none of that! It's beautifully writteN! The character details & world building are just as good! All around a pretty good read even though I didn't read the first book before this I do recommend that you do. I'm sure I missed out on some stuff but I didn't feel completely lost!

Oh Cameo, you did it again! Calla is coming into her own person with her new gifts and gaining more and more friends (and more!) along the way. Trystan is still trying to save Calla. Kai is still Calla’s rescuer. Sabine becomes a greater best friend and tries to adjust to a life where she can be served instead of doing the serving. Markus is still a fierce protector. Calla is still running from Roehl who is still a grade A psychopath. How long is she going to be able to stay hidden in Incendia from him? Unfortunately, not at long as we hope. Calla does get to learn quite a bit about her past and her gifts while being in Incendia and then she gets to learn a lot more about another place on the map (I’m not going to spoil where she gets to go!). Plus we got to meet a handful of amazing new characters!! A few you will love, a few you will hate as much as Roehl. There is a good mix of good and evil characters in this new book.

There’s freedom, loyalty, hope, knowledge, love, friendships, hate, family, surprises, more magic, heartbreak... I don’t know how Cameo was able to pack everything she did into this book and yet she still made it all seem possible in this world. The way everything flowed, from one event to the next, was flawless. We got just enough downtime and “play” before the poop hit the fan. But the poop hit the fan quite a bit so it definitely keeps you on your toes and the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next.

Calla learned a couple of secrets about Trystan and what’s a good romance novel if your heart isn’t crushed at least once, right? But Cameo did give me hope in the end! So I appreciate that ❤️ I can’t wait to see what happens in Book 3! P.S. I still hate Roehl!

Overall I enjoyed this book more than the first one. I think some of the frustration I get about this book is Calla. I like her as a character but I get so annoyed with her woe is me attitude. I hope she grows more in book 3.

Just like the first book, this baby is jam packed full of heart stopping, action packed, emotional rollercoaster, head spinning goodness!
Calla has finally made it to the home she never knew waited for her, where the questions about her powers can be answered, and hopefully fast, Roehl will not stop until her finds her and the traitors that turned on him and helped her. But Incindia is not what she expected.

This book was... mind blowing and overflowing with so much happening, and you never want it to end. Not gonna lie, I hollered out loud, cried, laughed, cursed Cameo and gave her ultimatums she couldn't hear... I was making my own deals to try to protect characters that had moved into my heart!
And then it ended... and now I'm dying... until book 3 comes out and saves my battered soul.

Whoa! Cliffhanger much? No problem though! I enjoyed this book thorougly. It was light enough to get through quickly and easily in the midst of pandemic anxiety and good enough to keep me hooked and wanting to learn more about her powers, kind of like her 😊

Very entertaining. Endearing characters who you can't help but love more and more. I mean, talk about SQUAD when it comes to Sabine, even Thalia.

Can't wait for the 3rd installment. Come on, June!

Sabine, Thalia, Marcus are travelling with Calla. She is on the run from certain death until she can grasp and understand her powers. She knows she can wield fire and now water, but needs to master both. Trystan stays on her mind, even as she is rescued by Kai the Prince of Aquaria. She flees from one place to another. Sebastian takes them to the hidden island where she is the rightful queen, but they are met with hostility.

I love this book and don't know if I can make it to the next. Prince Trystan is perfect for Calla but his father has other ideas for his coupling.

Wow this book went so differently from what I had anticipated going into it and I think it's safe to say it managed to avoid middle book syndrome for me as well. The world this book is set in continues to be one of my favorite things about it. I loved getting to explore even more of the continent and to experience more of the various cultures built into the world. They're really all so unique and I particularly enjoyed the nuance that came with how different cultures treated Calla's vampire status differently. I also liked seeing Calla start to come into her own with this book. You can tell she's starting to gain confidence and she's no longer the meek, hesitant girl we met in the first book. Another one of my favorite things about this book was the relationships in it. It's so refreshing to see healthy female friendships instead of seeing females pitted against each other, especially considering some of the romance details that developed in this book. I'm definitely rooting for a second romance now!

The book was a bit slowly paced for me again like it was in the first. I didn't get truly invested in the storyline this time until around the 70% mark when things started to pick up but I wasn't bored for the previous pages by any means. The book definitely has some interesting twists that I didn't see coming such as the true extent of Calla's powers. And that twist with the romance! I felt like my heart had been ripped from my chest. The book closes with a cliffhanger which is different from its predecessor so I'm eager to see what happens in the final book and how the various characters and storylines are resolved. My ARC copy has a note from the author saying she hopes to have the next book out in the next 3 months so here's to hoping that we don't live with questions for too long!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing series
Reviewed in Germany on November 20, 2021
first of all, I wanted to say that this such an amazing series and I would definitely recommend it for people who love young adult dark paranormal romance with some unique charachters.

Charachters:
I loved this book because of a lot of things but one of them is the clearly visible growth of Calla, she becomes more confident, badass and just mature in general. I am also so happy that Calla is developing her new powers and is learning how to controle them and not just for herself but to protect her friends. There are new charachters and new love intrests ;) and all of them have a good charachter build but no one steels my heart the way the main love intrest does, also there migh by some romantic relationship developments going on between some friends of her. Also the old charachters are developing nicely and some dark secrets are coming to the light which makes the charachters even more relateble, the ones we hate from book 1 (yes Roehl we are all looking at you) are also in this book and we all hate him even more.

worldbuilding:
ok wow, in this book the worldbuilding is juist wonderful, the unique settings, the underwater worlds, the mythical lands, the new unusual cretures and so much more, this story has an amazing worldbuilding, the new things, the unexpected things and so much more, I was so surprised by it, and just amazed by it, I don't know how Cameo has done it but just wow.

story:
As we all had questions on the end of book 1, a lot of them are answered in this book. I love that just as us, calla has questions and looks for anwers. Which makes it also interesting for us to read it. It's like we are in the story and also looking for the answers.
I love the way the story is developing en how it's going. the way it's writting makes it so much more interesting to see how it continues. And I defenitly can't wait to read the rest of the story.

extra thoughts:
I love the fact that there is a big focus on builing relationships/friendships throughout the story. I love that there are people who genuily care about Calla and she can trust them. Definitely because she lost her real family, friends (book 1 gives more info on that). And I do believe that that's amazing for her to have found such a close 'found family' because it will help her fulfill the prophecy (yes you heard it right, a prophecy!!).
Also, the fact that Cameo has written this story containing so many themes like freedom, hope, love, friendship, family, magic, heartbreak,... and doesn't make it sound cliché and boring is just amazing, so yes this story has it all, different themes, to make the story just amazing. And yes this story is so well written that you just feel everything Calla is feeling, the hate, love,... and that is just a big bonus.

Speechless 😶, it is wonderful. I recommend reading this series. Writing is amazing, you will not keep the book down once you start reading.

I love Calla and Trystan. My new favorite is Kai. Character development is wow, with all the new abilities Calla is exploring makes the reading phenomenal.

I started reading this book by the thought that this will be a duology and I will get the finale, but when I reached 60% I realized that nooo another book will be coming. I was curious to know that what happens next and that Cliffhanger made my mind swing. Dang!! Book 3 better be good and don’t hurt my favorites. In the end, it was an emotional ride.

This is a wonderful story that keeps you guessing from page to page. Each character has you wondering, reads so soothly it's easy to become engrossed within the pages.
I adore the rhythm of the story too.
Pulled in so thoroughly, we discover Callas new life as she does and all the drama, desires and hints of destiny along the way.
Appeals to both myself and my daughter.
And love them or loath them there is a Fabulous cliff waiting for you!
