I am always a little hesitant about reading legal fiction since not all authors do the research. It is really immersion-breaking to stumble across a blatant legal error. I decided to take the chance with this book since the author is a practicing criminal attorney. I am very glad I did.

The plot is very well done and believable. The legal issues discussed were handled appropriately. I had a tough time putting the book down, and even when I wasn't reading, I found myself thinking about the book and wondering what would happen. The plot twists really threw me for a loop, but they all made perfect sense in context. (I do question Brett's luck in stumbling into the last link in the chain, but this is fiction, not real life, so it doesn't always have to be believable.)

I will be reading more from this author.

Intelligent, powerful, determined women who are on the opposite sides of the 'law and order' spectrum; could there be any doubt to the novels alluring content? Not for me!

To put in simply, I absolutely LOVE story lines that include intelligent women who are not only competent in their careers, but who are also unafraid/unashamed to let their career aspirations be known. "Nothing But The Truth" was able to meet both of those qualities with ease.

The character development throughout this novel was well done, but not perfect; I found myself still asking questions about the two main characters as the book came to an end. However, I have to applaud the author for creating two complex and rather different characters, I also enjoyed the author highlighted each character's imperfections; whether it was the constant struggle to maintain a clean wardrobe after enjoying a meal, or prejudging a situation, both very realistic and both easy to relate with as the reader.

The story line as a whole was rather intriguing. The fact that one of the main characters was caught up in a rather unique scandal, had me turning the pages with ease, hoping to quench my curiosity.

All in all, "Nothing But The Truth" was good read and worth the time.

The plot and characters were complex and interesting, at the top level of Carsten Taite books. I just wish that the author would hook the connection from complex characters to less simplistic and gratuitous sex scenes. Sex between complex characters is usually not stereotypical. The author is a very good writer who should feel free enough not to play to a market. Still a very good read.

I like the intricate storylines and the way the author weaved them all together. Both main characters were workaholics and it was interesting to see how they mixed the personal and professional.

Exceptionally well written. I enjoyed this book very much. Nicely plotted twists and turns.
I am becoming a Carsen Taite fan.

Even when I am reading light romances, I like there to be substance in both the plot and the characters. Carsen Taite delivers both in this very good book. However, those readers looking for a well developed romance might like the book less as there is little foundation for the relationship beyond attraction so the romance aspects don't have the same realism and depth. For me, the multi-layered legal plot more than makes up for this weakness.

A pesar de que, a veces, me pierdo en la jerga jurídica, buen libro para explorar los sentimientos y en cómo puede variar de un momento a otro. Siempre, eso sí, con final feliz.

5.0 out of 5 stars A rollercoaster ride
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 8, 2011
Ryan Foster is a high flying prosecutor, just a step away from being at the top of her profession. Brett Logan is also a high flyer, she is a defense attorney and owns her own firm. The two women find themselves working together on on the same case. Which originally was mapped out to be a sure winner for the prosecution. There are a lot of twists and turns in the story and nothing is at all straight forward. One of the women finds herself being listed as a witness in the case, throwing things off balance. One of the women finds themselves not being on the right side of the law. The fact that Ryan and Brett are attracted to each other only adds to the confusion.
A highly enjoyable book that took me on a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, twists and turns in all directions and kept me on the edge of the seat until I'd finally reached the last page. Very skilfully written. Carsen at her best.

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely worth a read!!

I reread this book because the characters appear in Ms Taite's most recent book "Switchblade". Ryan is an excellent, well written character and it is credible that the woman she is and the childhood she has had would have her make the choices she makes. I really enjoyed the twists and turns in the relationship with Brett and in the legal case - which has an interesting ending. Definitely worth a read and then a reread... before you move on to Switchblade...

5.0 out of 5 stars A turn pager...

I have only recently discovered Ms Taite's books and I'm very pleased I have. I won't provide a synopsis of the story as other reviewers have already done so. I think why some readers may have given less than 5 stars in their reviews is that Ms Taite demonstrates her vast wealth of knowledge on the American legal system, and as a consequence her explanations may be too detailed for some readers' enjoyment. Another criticism maybe that the love story is not the central theme in this story, but it does exists and it builds as the story unfolds. I enjoyed the story and would highly recommend it.

Good mystery and the author clearly knows about the legal system. An easy and relaxing read. 3.5 stars
