Noah & Katie Duet

Rate this book
Noah’s been in love with his childhood best friend for as long as he can remember. Katie and him were inseparable and although they told each other everything, he kept that one secret to himself. It was easier to hide his feelings than to risk their friendship. Before he can confess, his cousin moves to town and sweeps Katie off her feet. It doesn’t take long before they’re married and expecting their first child. Losing her is his biggest regret, but he’ll continue supporting her the best he can. Katie’s life looks perfect from the outside—married to her high school sweetheart with a baby boy on the way. But in reality, she’s tired of his affairs and partying. When one night changes everything, she not only loses her husband, but her best friend too. Ten years later, Katie’s a single mom who’s determined to fix up her new house while juggling anything that comes her way. Noah’s return is inevitable and she doesn’t want to deal with him pushing his way back into her life, but she might not have a choice. He makes it clear he’s here to stay and is dead set on proving he’s always been the one for her.

"Pushing You Away"
I was very eager to start reading “Pushing You Away” because I had always wondered about Katie’s relationship with Noah and why she was so mad at him. So many questions popped into my mind while I was reading. Can Noah apologize for the sins of his past so his future will look brighter? Is it possible for him to ignore the sideways glances and rude comments as he attempts to adjust to small town living? Can Noah win back Katie after all these years? Will being honest with her about his past be enough for her to trust him again? Will the small town gossip end up being too much for either of them to handle?

What bothers Noah the most is that Katie wants nothing to do with him, and I feel sorry for him because everyone deserves a second chance. Katie should be more receptive to hearing what Noah has to say, even though she is still mad that he refused to talk to her when he was in prison. She needs to put that behind her and allow Noah to become the friend to her that he once was. Noah needs her friendship now more than ever and I hope that Katie can remember the good times they had and use that to be someone that Noah can trust. He desperately wants Katie to believe that he has changed because he will do anything to be with her again. Can love conquer all or will forces beyond their control interfere with their happiness?

"Holding You Close"
I was eager to start reading “Holding You Close” because I was concerned about how things ended in the first part of this compelling and emotional duet. This book is full of surprises, most of which I never saw coming. I thought I knew who was trying to break up Noah and Katie, but I was only partially correct.

Noah and Katie’s relationship has survived time, distance and town gossip. Noah paid for his actions and was glad Katie forgave him when he came home. He proved he was a new man who was ready to start over. Danger and secrets were swirling around their small town and it was hard to know who you could really trust. Noah never says no when someone needs help, but unfortunately he helped the wrong person and was caught up in a dangerous web of hatred and jealousy.

Katie’s love and devotion for Noah got him through his ordeal and paved the way for the next part of their lives. Noah turned out to be one of the most romantic men I had ever encountered in the many romance novels I have read. His love for Katie was beautiful, heartfelt and pure. They had always been friends and now their love united them forever.

Pushing You Away:
I've been waiting for this duet! This is the first book in Katie and Noah's duet. This is a great friends to lovers story. Noah is entering his life after prison and coming home is not going to be easy. It's going to be tough for Katie being around Noah, but they have an undeniable chemistry that won't be ignored. I loved watching those two reconnect. It made my heart happy. I loved the relationship/friendship Noah is creating with Katie's son Owen. It's not all sunshine and roses because someone won't let Noah's past stay in the past. The cliffhanger that we are left with has me asking so many questions, but also has my sleuth hat working.
Holding You Close:
This is the second book in the duet and the conclusion to Katie & Noah's story. This is such a good book and it picks up right where we left off. It took me on a roller coaster ride of emotion. All the questions we had are answered. Katie's world is going to get rocked a little more and she shows how strong she is. This book also left me with my heart full to bursting with happiness. Owen really captured my heart. That boy is just so awesome. Also Noah's grand gesture totally needed tissues for that. My romantic heart was happy sighing. There are a few twists and turns that I didn't see coming and I wasn't ready for. I can't wait for the next duet in the series. I have feeling it's going to be quite the ride. This is a must read, but make sure you read the duet in order!

BOOK 1: Pushing you away was a fast read about two people who were in love with each other but were too scared to admit it. Then life happened and they were torn apart. The friendship is still there even though it's strained. But when someone tries to take Noah out all bets are off and Katie needs to decide if she's willing to forgive him. Just when things start to look on the bright side someone is determined to keep them apart.
BOOK 2: Holding you close picks up right where we were left off in the book 1 and that's beside Noah's bed.
This story revolves around finding out who and the exact reason why Noah is being a target of the attacks. There's a bit of the drama until they capture the person responsible for all the things that happened in book one and then we get to see Noah and Katie finally getting the HEA they deserved but were too afraid to seize when they were kids.

Overall this was a nice story about how people deserve a second chance and how sometimes the way to get it is to fight for it with everything and everyone at your disposal.

The buildup, suspense, second chance moments, it was all sublime!!

Noah is such a delicious heartbreaker...sigh...he's been in love with Katie forever and that love rolls off the pages every time he's in her presence.

Spending a decade in prison for a mistake he wishes he could take back, all he ever wanted to do was take care of his best friend, Katie, but his mistakes keep coming back to haunt him.

Katie is mad, which is an understatement. When Noah first went to jail she was heartbroken, then the longer he refused to see her or write her back she became angry. Now that he's released, back in town and suddenly wants to explain, she's furious. It might take another decade for her to finally forgive Noah, or perhaps some close quarter persuasion.

The tangled web of their history is so much thicker than just estranged feelings. Pushing You Away is middle couple in the Lawton Ridge series. A total page turner, full of emotion with lots of suspense!

Noah has been in love with his best friend since they were very young and lost his chance. Now he's back and isn't going to lose her again. Katie never told Noah how she felt and decides to give him another chance. I loved these two. I love their story. I wish it was easier on both of them, but so glad they're getting a second chance. This book has all the feels. I choked up a few times. So much is going in in this book and I am here for it. I loved Noah and Katie’s story. They both went through so much in their lives and they finally get their happy ending.
