Never for Him

Rate this book
Serenity Ryan was ready for a fresh start. When the chance at a new life came knocking on her door, she was all too happy to answer. She had a new job, a new apartment, and a new outlook on life. She also had a bone deep crush on the last remaining bachelor of Alpha Omega. He was the brooding hero in every love story ever written, and she wanted nothing more than to be the heroine who healed his wounds.

Hunter McCann knew better than most what it felt like to lose what's most important. He’d lost family to tragedy, his brothers in battle, and the heart of the only woman he’d ever loved. To protect himself from ever having to experience that kind of pain again, he erected walls around his heart. Then a fiery woman with a loud mouth and a wild spirit decided to scale those walls.

Hunter never wanted to love again, but something about Serenity Ryan has grabbed on and refuses to let go. When danger comes to Hope Valley and threatens her safety, Hunter is determined to protect the woman he’s falling for. Because this is one loss he knows he can’t come back from.

Despite my occasional eye rolling I like Jessica Prince. Her heroines are pretty cute and a little more on the ball than most and the heroes end up doting if they don't start out that way.

This felt a little phoned in. The h doesn't chase him really, but she does all the heavy lifting in the relationship down to forgiving him for making googly eyes at the suppressed love of his life as she's walking down the aisle to marry yet another man that is not the hero.

Despite her ex-grifter status, the heroine was pretty much aces. She takes down the evil dude, very evil, not just once but twice. She's dating an ex-military man and is surrounded by testosterone, but girly girl does her own dirty work. Hurray for a heroine who rescues herself so 3 stars for that alone.

Serenity & Hunter

I love Serenity and Hunter together. Initially friends and then lovers, but both were attracted to each other from the beginning. Only a couple of things I had an issue with: 1) I'd like to know who won the bet, it wasn't mentioned again; 2) the part with Vera (the other woman) just seemed to have been wrapped up so quickly.

This is not my favourite troupe.
Basically heroine likes Hero, they kiss then he pushes her away, with the old 'I can't be what you need me to be'.

Heroine is the sister of the heroine of a previous book, the grifter family, she is starting over.
But she works at the local bar, her sister works with the Hero and is marrying one of his colleagues.

The Hero has good reasons to be closed off.
He is an amputee and he loved a woman who didn't see him like that, broke his heart, unknowingly.

I'm not keen on the heroine pining after an unobtainable Hero.

Before the heroine and the Hero kiss-

'But it was the other nights that left stinging lashes against my skin. The man was single and free to do whatever—or in his case, whomever—he pleased. It wasn’t a regular occurrence—but it wasn’t exactly rare either—that, if a woman caught his eye, they’d end the night leaving the bar together after he picked up her tab. Those nights sucked. The only certainty I’d discovered after studying his patterns was that the women he left with usually disappeared after only a couple of encounters.'

No intimate details other than the Hero and heroine.
Other woman drama, Hero isn't interested.

HEA.

Serenity Ryan is glad to be starting over, living a life as a grifter took her younger years and now she is looking forward to finding her own path. Now residing in Hope Valley so she can be close to her sister, Serenity is harboring a huge crush on Hunter McCann. The man exudes broody, but she thinks she has finally gotten in, until she realizes it is far from it.

Hunter finds Serenity stunning, but he has been burned before and has walls around him he does not plan to let down. A moment though changes everything and Hunter is unable to deny his feelings for Serenity, but the past still lingers and could ruin what Hunter and Serenity are building.

Wonderful story. The one thing I truly appreciate from this author is each book is so different from the other. Serenity is a breath of fresh air and when she and Hunter get together it is magical. Really loved this story.

***5 ‘Team Serenity’ Stars***

While I’m sad that this is the last in the series (Kinda), it was a great one to go out on. Funny, sweet, tense, smexy and just a great read overall, this one kept me turning the pages until the very end.

I adored Serenity. ADORE. This woman hasn’t had the most normal of upbringings and will admit that she tended to live a life more in the gray than anything else, but she owns all that she is. Vivacious, sweet, strong and sassy, she was a force in every way. Hunter. Oh this man. I did adore him, but the urge to pull a Moonstruck moment on him was strong. He’s had a lot of loss in his life and suffers from survivor's guilt which he can’t seem to shake. But the man is all kinds of protective alpha male with a huge heart of gold.

Their journey to their HEA was a lot of fun. Frustrating at times, but fun. They had all kinds of chemistry and their bantering was a lot of fun. But what I liked the most was how Serenity didn’t beat around the bush once she made it clear she was interested in Hunter. She was open, honest and gave as good as she got, which in turn had Hunter start to drop the walls he’d build around himself and see what life he could have if only he allowed himself to. They definitely had bumps in their journey, some quite intense, but I really liked how they dealt with it all and that they got their HEA in the end.

So, I know that I said that this is the last in the series ~ kinda ~ and in essence it is true, this is the last HV book but there is still Redemption, Whiskey Dolls and White Cap which have ties to HV, so the last but not…not really. But, regardless, I loved catching up with everyone in Hope Valley and seeing how they are all doing and crossing my toes that we’ll get updates on them all in one way or another in future books.

Hunter and Serenity are the perfect couple to end this series. I’m sad it’s done, but their story brought everyone together for laughs, love, fear, and happiness in the end.

Hunter definitely got lost in his head and his regrets a few times, but he isn’t a dumb man and finds his way back to who and what matter most quickly enough. And Sere? Yeah, she’s just as tough and capable as I’d hoped. She doesn’t NEED a man, but she sure isn’t opposed to idea of a life with the right man. And Hunter proves to be that guy more than once. Even when he almost messes it all up, he catches a clue super fast and isn’t going to give up on the future he sees with Sere. Heck, even when all seems lost, he’s not giving up. Not that he needs to worry. Because Serenity is able to save herself long enough for backup to arrive, more than once. And these two prove just how perfect they are for each other every chance they get.

So yeah, I’m sad to be done with this series. But I have a feeling we’ll be seeing more of these folks in books to come. And I’ll enjoy every single minute.

" “You should always make time to look up at the stars.”

“Yeah? Why is that?”

“Because while the world keeps spinning and things keep changing, those are the one constant. If you ever feel like the rug has been pulled out from under you, all you have to do is look up and somehow that awe-inspiring beauty makes everything feel just a little bit better.” "

I'm not ready to say goodbye.

I'm crazy for this author and everything she writes. Hope Valley is one of my favorite series (not only by her) and Never For Him was a wonderful way to close a marvelous string of romantic stories.

Hunter and Sere more than deserved the love they found in each other's arms.
I loved how capable Sere was, beyond her fears and insecurities. I marveled at how intense, loving, and caring Hunter was to the ones he loved.
It wasn't easy for either of them, but together they made the choice to make it work and let their love blossom, and that's a beautiful concept.

I know Jessica said this was the last book for Hope Valley. But I love this series too much and am stubborn enough to still hope for more. It can be another Spin-Off, I'm game.
I just need to see them again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Serenity is working in a small town trying to create a normal life after leaving the family business & scores a job at the local bar to be closer to her sister

Hunter who she has meet previously due to a little kidnapping incident, walks into the bar & she is captivated again by his blue eyes

What begins is a romance of epic proportions- Hunter is always close to Serenity & there friends start to pick up on what’s going on between them

Come on a romance like no other ❤️ Will there be a HEA?

What a way to end a series! Hope valley is up there with one of my favourite series by Jessica Prince

Hard to say goodbye to a series that you love, but this one was a good one to end with. Yes, it is part of a series, and you could probably read it as a stand alone, but I'm thinking you will be happier by reading all 12 book in this series. Serenity and Hunter's story is wonderful. The storyline is so captivating that you won't want to put this book down. You will cheer for Hunter and Serenity from the get go. Serenity is one tough female who lets no one put her in a corner. Dual point of view.

Serenity and Hunter....wow their story was so flipping amazing. I will start with....you do not want to miss the authors note at the beginning of the book!!!!! Trust me!
This series has been so amazing and it's a little bittersweet that it's at the end. This book ended the series so well.
My heart just broke for hunter, his past traumas were so beyond heartbreaking.
Jessica always does an amazing job and making you feel all of the feelings for these amazing characters. She absolutely out did herself with this one! I loved every single part of this book. I received an arc for my opinion

Predictable but all round an engaging read. I've been on this journey with this town and the people from that first book.

Drama is abound with this one, but its what I expect with this series. Strong female leads who are likeable and relatable.

Jess has done a awesome job with all the books.

Its a yes from me.

I’ve been looking forward to Hunter’s book for ages but I was disappointed.

I didn’t feel the chemistry between him and Serenity and it was a slow burn. They don’t get together until nearly 70% and the book ends at 93%.

When ‘the other woman’ was introduced I felt the author did her a disservice and seemed to change the plot and make the other woman into a nasty bitch which left a sour taste in my mouth as we hadn’t even been told the full story of what happened with her and Hunter other than he had unrequited love for her. The plot was weak.

What a let down and a disappointing end to the series. The author will them write about the kids from this series when they are grown up. Never been a fan of authors doing that.

As soon has it popped up on my kindle, I dove in and didn’t let go until the very end. An highly addicting romantic suspense. Another 5 star for my favourite story teller.

Serenity has come a long way from who she was before. Now in Hope Valley she hopes for a fresh new start. Hunter is one of the only bachelor left. Broody, silent and all alpha male. Every time she’s close to him, she gets butterflies. He tries to stay away but he can’t.

I loved this story so much. Highly addicting and entertaining. The characters were perfectly created for this story. They made me feel so much. Beautifully written with a storyline that sucked me in deep of the heart of Hope Valley. The epilogue is to die for. Bottomline this is a must read.

Although it’s part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. Told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.

Serenity has moved to Hope Valley to be close to her sister. The events of her past has made her strong, independent and has a feisty personality. She is drawn to Hunter in a way that is unexpected however her attempts to attract his attention aren’t having the impact she would like.

Hunter has a difficult past of his own which has made him cautious when trusting others especially when it comes to his heart. He is determined to keep his distance from Serenity however that goes by the wayside when he finds out she is in danger and now there isn’t anything he won’t do to keep her safe.

Serenity is a character you can’t help but love as she doesn’t allow the challenges that life has thrown at her to define her and she is exactly who Hunter needs as she helps him heal from his past and shows him the happiness that living and true love can bring.

Serenity and Hunter's story. We met Serenity in her sister's book, and I was pretty curious if she was going to get a story. Hunter, a quiet but observant guy, has quite the emotional baggage, but he keeps it close to him. Serenity is a big flirt, and that was a part of her past, it was part of her "job", grifting for a long time but she is starting over and doing things the right way and loving her new life. Opposites attract, with a little bit of suspense, Hunter and Ser fight their feelings but there is danger lurking. Hunter can't fight his feelings for that long. Love a good JP romantic suspense story. Bummed this series is at its end but so happy these two got their happy ever after. Can't wait for what JP comes up with next.

Great ending!!

What an absolutely beautiful ending for the Hope Valley Series. Hunter and Serenity were just what we needed to get closure in the lives of these wonderful characters that Jessica Prince has blessed us with. We see so many of our favorites in this book as well as a few new faces. Captivating storyline, sweet and spicy, and lots of laughs and an epilogue that will tug at your heartstrings. I am looking forward to the return to Hope Valley to catch up with the kids of these wonderful couples and also the kids from Hope House!

is almost unfathomable that there have been 12 books in this series. It doesn't feel like that much time has passed. These characters and this amazing town have gotten me through some pretty tough times. They feel like family and home. The reason for that is this author and her ability to tap into something relatable and authentic.

There were a few areas that felt rushed or that I wish had been fleshed out but it still was a great conclusion to this amazing series. I'm glad that Hunter and Serenity got their HEA.

I'm not sure what the author has planned but I will be anxiously waiting for it.

Hunter & Serenity!! Oh, it makes my heart happy they both get HEAs, and TOGETHER! Swoon!!

Their story starts with a crush, goes into a friendship, and of course works its way into more. I love the suspense, and family and friendship building. Serenity comes into her own with the town, becoming a true part of the community. And I adore the scenes with her & Stella, seeing their bond!

And of course we have the 🔥🔥🔥! Serenity is confident and full of sunshine. Hunter is grumpy, sure, but he's also generous and sweet And pretty dominant in the bedroom! Whew!

An excellent read featuring the last single hottie of AO getting his happy. Love it lots!!

Such a great read!! Hunter is definitely a mystery & he comes off as a jerk at times, but this book we get to know him more. His story was the perfect way to end this series. Plus the strong & stubborn Serenity was a great addition to the women of this series & Hunter other half. Another beautifully written story with the perfect amount of angst & chemistry to keep us entertained from beginning to end.
I highly recommend this book. Told in dual POV.

I’m so sad this series has come to and end but what an end it was!!

Hunter has intrigued me since he was introduced and I was so excited to countdown the books until his story.

Serenity is trying to rebuild her life. She’s been perceived her entire life in a certain way & she is striving to break people’s perception of her. She’s finding herself & letting people see the real her versus the version of herself she had to portray in order to keep her family afloat. There’s an instant attraction to Hunter & I loved that she just went for it. She’s not afraid to go after what she wants but she’s also not afraid to get shut down & back off.

Hunter has always given off a mysterious vibe that makes you want to poke into his past. Like all Hope Valley alpha men, he draws you in & makes it hard to ignore him. He has his own issues that he has to work through & him meeting Serenity makes him realize that what he thought was love, wasn’t really love, because what he’s found with her is so much more.
