Light weight packs small. It took a few tries the first time to set up correctly. Every thing has to be just right for the rain fly to stay on the the tent. The back has clips for the rainfly the front hooks into the tent pegs. The tent was suppose to have eight tent pegs I had six, I added two more to keep the rain fly on, wind storms. One on each end. The tent is thin and fragile. I added seam sealer to all the seems and stitching for extra durability. Titanium tent stakes would be lighter and durable than what comes with the tent.

Great ultralight tent. Surprisingly stable, big enough for 2 people plus some smaller gear or (more comfortably) one person with all their gear. The vestibules are roomy and the rain fly really keeps the wind and rain out. I've tested this model tent in +30mph winds with moderate rain for 8 hours with no issue whatsoever. Inside stayed dry and tranquil. Good ventilation but not drafty at all. The materials are high quality, ultralight, and *durable* with that caveat that moderate care should be taken with this tent if you want it to last. Ie. Pulling zippers slow and not catching any material in the zips, using a tyvek footprint on rough/pointy surfaces, and storing it (uncompressed) only once it's completely dry. Keeps bugs out. Can be a little tricky to get the rain fly lined up just right, but it just requires staking out the guys as far as possible and adjusting the guy lines a little at a time until everything is taut. I love this tent, and plant to user it for all my upcoming section hikes and any thru-hikes I decide to do.

Very excited for this new piece of gear. Very light and compacts down incredibly small when the poles are packed away separately. Right around 2 lbs or less. The material for the 10D fly is thin but feels durable. The fly bars are a nice improvement from the old hornet and create more head space inside the tent. Pretty small for a two person but with two doors/ vestibules, it can be done no problem. For one person it’s huge. The bathtub floor is durable but I would still use something for a foot print, I used a small bit of painters plastic. Stood solid in high winds without using the guy lines. Haven’t tested it in the rain yet so I cannot comment on that. Overall I think this is a great little tent. Lightweight & good material. We’ll see how she holds up in future backpacking trips here in Minnesota.

A one person tent is a tight tent.
I sleep with my pack under my knees (under my sleeping bag) when on my back.
there is room to put the bag outside in the vesitble but the fly doesn't come down that far.

I wanted small and light. This is small and light.

I got it on sale. If I paid full price ($300+) I'd probably get the 2person. not that much more weight or size when packed and you can put your pack on the other side then. You cannot do that with this one.

But ooooooooh is it well made, small and light :)

Tight fit for two people, but doable. I used this for week long backpacking with two people. Holds up great in the rain. It's a little delicate but works and is light enough for backpacking.

I use it as a single person tent. I think for 2 people to fit comfortably, they'd have to be pretty little. Great tent though!

I really liked the light weight and useable space of the Hornet 1….
However (and this is just my opinion), in the effort to save weight corners were cut that tend to complicate and compromise the ease and time it takes to set this tent up (The Dagger sets up much quicker—especially in a storm). I.e., each end of the tent has six separate anchor attachments and they all attach differently—it’s almost as if they were designing this tent as they were sewing the very first one together.
There is one oversight that is much more important than these small things I am complaining about and that is… at the peak of the tent, near the single pole hub, the fly and the mesh touch…this just happens to be where condensation will accumulate for sure and will in some cases cause you some trouble as the accumulated water will come right back into the tent… yes, I tried tightening up my set up but to no avail- it will become a problem! Personally, having backpacked for over 55 years and having helped design and test lots of outdoor gear to include tents…I think that sometimes we have become more interested in saving weight at any cost no matter what the functional outcome may be…in my humble opinion the Hornet 1 I got (a current model) needs a re-think.
