For what it is and it's purpose, it does it very well. Actions are instantaneous more so than opening the app, clicking the tab, and choosing a scene. Now, I only have this set up solely for the Nanoleaf Light Panels so I can't comment on other functions for Homekits. But as I mentioned before, it works flawless without any delay once the initial setup is done. I mean the Nanoleaf alone is a conversation starter. Having this remote takes you on a whole other level. Might even get you to home run! Lol.

Everything is very intuitive and simple to follow. It integrates seamlessly and acts and behaves as if it is part of the system just like the Rhythm module did when it came out. I guess others will find it a novelty when you don't have this connected to other things. But if you are already invested with Nanoleaf, I see this as a must have to enhance the experience.

Price wise I can't comment since I'm bias about this item and I'm getting a good use out of it. I think the starter pack of the Nanoleaf was expensive but if you can stomach that, I don't see how you would able to resist on this.

So. Cool. So intuitive. Let’s dive in boys and girls:

    Pros:
-It’s Bluetooth and it works surprisingly well up to 30 feet, and through an interior wall.
-It doesn’t seem to have any battery life issues after a month of regular use
-Spin to dim/brighten. Genius and simple.
-Easy to assign presets to numbers, in the Nanoleaf app and homekit (I recommend the NL app)

    Cons
-It’s a 12-sided die. I want to play with it in my hands constantly, but then my lights are constantly changing.
-using HomeKit requires an Apple iPad or Apple TV always on, and it’s a little clumsy and sometimes slow to respond.
-Setting up scenes with HomeKit disables the dimming function on all devices, and it won’t dim any non-NL devices :(

Once you get this set up, it's pretty sweet. I have the original Nanoleaf panels, not the rhythm so I hook up through Apple Home Kit and not the rhythm adapter. After trying for about an hour with phone in hand running the app, the panels and the remote on, the app just would not find the remote.

It finally occurred to me that this thing was trying to pair, not with my phone or with the panels but with the Apple TV downstairs! Nowhere in the documentation did it state that you needed to be near your Apple TV for the remote to be detected so I thought I'd put it here just in case someone has the same problem.

Fantastic design although like all NanoLeaf products, it's a bit flakey. It works when it wants to work, which thankfully is most of the time, but occasionally it will do nothing and you have to wait a few minutes and try again. Hopefully this will be addressed in a future firmware update.

One big surprise and a major plus is that this remote can be configured to adjust any scene in your house including your Hue light scenes and iDevices. I wanted this just to control the panels, but now that I've seen it, it would be a great remote for the house in general.

I have had this item replaced twice by customer service and it broke again, I gave up and threw it away. After a month or so of having it, it will break (it will start strobing and stop working as a controller). It is entirely a waste of money do not buy it. Its a cool idea if it worked, but they need to fix the issues with it.

First off: if you want to control your Nanoleaf kit with this, you'll need a Rhythm module.

Second: you'll need a HomeKit hub to use it within an Apple ecosystem. A 4th gen or newer AppleTV, HomePod, or iPad. A phone or computer cannot sub in for the HomeKit hub role, as exploitative as that sounds.

Third: be very careful when you update the firmware on it. You can brick it and get it stuck on "green" if anything interrupts the firmware update.

Actual review: it's neat. It makes adjusting the brightness and scene on your Nanoleaf setup very quick. Much quicker than launching the app and fiddling around with the cumbersome menus. Is it worth diving into HomeKit for? That's up to you. Is it worth $50? Definitely not. Is it worth the marked down $30 price? Probably.

If you already have Nanoleaf systems setup and a Rhythm module and a HomeKit hub, $30 is a good price for this thing. But unless you can get it discounted and you don't already have some kind of HomeKit system (or the Android equivalent) in place, this is going to be an expensive and frustrating adventure. Nanoleaf tech support is practically non-existent and there isn't a lot of troubleshooting you can do on the consumer end. Make sure it works. Return it if it doesn't. Be prepared to be patient. And for god's sakes, make sure it works before you stick it to the wall.

The installation process definitely gave me pause and made me doubt my investment in the Nanoleaf ecosystem. Good luck.

Fun little remote. People already thought the nanoleaf tiles were cool, but now they are able to interact with them a bit which makes it more fun. It's never as fun to hand someone your phone so they can use the app.

The remote itself is super responsive, and I didn't realize this before I bought it, but spinning clockwise and counterclockwise will change brightness, which is cool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ottimo prodotto

4.0 out of 5 stars El complemento perfecto! aunque el software es mejorable
Reviewed in Spain on December 25, 2019
