The only mistake I made was walking away instead of facing the man whose heart I broke. I ran away from the life I wasn’t ready for, and in the process, lost everything I wanted. I tried to move on and failed epically. There’s no moving on from Jake Findlay. Even if he thinks I have. Now that I’m home, I’ve got to fight my own battles and prove that I’m all grown up. Even if it means letting him in to break me all over again.

You know the stories Rue loves to write. The ones filled with heroes who make you swoon, anti-heroes who smile viciously as the world burns down around them, just as long as the woman they love stands at their side… Then there are the happily ever afters that bring you to your knees whether you want to be there or not.

Never Too Late by Rue Lennox, is the second book in the Birch Harbor Series: Damaged Heroes, in this book we have the opportunity to get to know Jake, Brian's friend, who, like him, works as a Birch County police officer, and of Margot, or Lilly as he calls her, who works as an emergency dispatcher and about whom we know only a little in the previous book. The story begins with Margot returning to Birch after a year of being gone, leaving behind the man she loved but had to not only overcome the tragedy that touched their lives but also needed to grow and do something more with her life, just arriving she crosses with Jake, neither was prepared to see each other again and this opens the door to the wounds of the past, the feelings that have not been extinguished and on their way to meet again they must work together at the station and face an arsonist who will endanger the life of the inhabitants of the county and our heroes.
This story is about second chances, full of anguish, some suspense, forgiveness, friendship, improvement and a lot of love, you will laugh, cry and fall in love with these wonderful characters, I loved having all the characters from the previous story, see how their days continue and how they overcome the trials of their lives, I could not expect less in the continuation of this series, for me it is a story that you must read, I can't wait for what will come from this group of heroes, I loved it and devore, Highly Recommended!!
*Thanks to Rue Lennox and Booksprout for my ARC. I voluntarily leave my honest review*

I loved Never Too Late, and Rue hit it out of the park!! This is Margot and Jake's story, and it's quite the journey. Margot has basically known Jake her whole life, and it feels like she's loved him just as long. When they finally find their way to each other, it's not long before something devastating happens, and Margot decides she needs to leave. Fast forward 5 years, and Margot is on her way back to the town she thought she left behind until one of her best friends calls under the guise of an emergency to lure her back, she doesn't hesitate and goes back. She is very happy to be back because she actually does miss her hometown and the people...at least most. She gets pulled over on her way into town and of course the cop just so happens to be...yep, you guessed it...Jake!! She makes her way to her hotel, and she meets up with her friends, who by the way have already arranged for her to never want to leave again!! Maya being one of those friends, and the one that called with the "emergency" has an ulterior motive, and that is to get Jake and Margot back together again. There is a little glitch in said plan when Margot meets a guy at the local bar and they make plans to see each other. In the meantime, Maya has not only practically gotten her a job that Margot has always wanted, but a home as well!! It's an offer that Margot feels she would be a fool to turn down so she doesn't. She's enjoying being back, and being able to spend time with the people she loves, and she even starts working with Jake consulting, and they are getting along!! Jake has been seeing someone, but his heart really isn't in it, and as soon as Margot comes back, he pretty much decides that things with this woman are done. Margot gets hurt one night while at the bar trying to protect another woman, and Jake finds out and freaks out!! So does the guy that Margot had just barely started seeing, to the point that she doesn't feel comfortable and ends things before they've really started. And that's when Jake decides he can't live without his "Lilly girl" anymore. The things that happen in this book will have you going through every emotion imaginable, and back again!! Will the arsonist be caught? Will Jake and Margot finally get their happily ever after? You'll just have to read this AWEMAZING book to find out!! Can't wait to read more!!

Only a matter of time for this second chance couple
Never Too Late: A Second Chance Romantic Suspense (Birch Harbor Damaged Heroes Book 3) by Rue Lennox is a compelling second chance love story in which the love had never died or gone anywhere even though Margot physically left Jake, their home town and even the state. Jake didn't dare hope that Margot's return would result in a second chance at forever, but two seconds after his first interaction with Margot and he know, it's forever or nothing and he had to fight for her. It's only ever been Margot in his heart. For Margot, she realizes that it was time for her return, but it took her best friend's 'emergency' to get Margot in gear.
The plot is dangerous and thrilling. Margot has the job of her dreams and shortly after she starts, an arsonist creates havoc in Birch Harbor that leaves a threat hanging over the community and all the protective services on high alert. All this danger brings Margot and Jake together. Jake provides security Margot needs and having Margot with Jake makes him feel assured of her safety. It also provides plenty of opportunities for Jake to care for and demonstrate the deep, abiding and devoted love he had, has and will always have for Margot.
Overall, the suspense culminates in revealing the arsonist with a personal vendetta toward Jake and Margot which resolves the threat to Birch Harbor. Of course best of all, Jake and Margot truly embark on their second chance for a truly wonderful, love filled HEA.

Never Too Late is the second book set within the Birch Harbor: Damaged Heroes series. Margot and Jake were friends then lovers, but after her accident, she left everything behind. Now she’s back, determined to make her own way, but Jake is determined to make her his. Working together, fighting against a fire bug, and figuring out who they are now is part of their daily lives, but when danger strikes against Margot, is it too late to face their love?

Oh man, this book was pretty great! I love the Birch Harbor series, all of these alpha type guys with women full of grit and determination, and danger constantly surrounding them while they fall in love, and this book did not disappoint in any of these aspects! Margot was so hesitant to follow her heart, especially when it came to Jake. I liked her fearlessness and selflessness. Jake was pretty great for Margot. I liked his patience, even when he didn’t want to be. I liked his protective nature, too, especially when she didn’t want him to be. Together, they were fire. I find it so fascinating that even though this was a book, you could feel their foundation of their past through their connection, that even though things might have shifted some because of their time spent apart, they can still come together and just be themselves and find love and acceptance. There is a sense of urgency and danger, especially as the book progresses, that was exciting and the ending was surprising. I really enjoyed reading this book! I look forward to reading more from Ms. Lennox!

So he treats her like poop and belittles her gives her angry eyes. And Brandi has no clue what is wrong with him and why he hates her so much. If she only new the real reason. One night Berch County is hit with bad weather and the sheriff needs volunteers to help with the blackouts and the bridge collapse so Brandi is a 911 dispatcher and off duty so she volunteers to help and Travis is the officer she is assigned to that night. Ok no spoilers yes they finally work out Travis issues and they have a surprise pregnancy that only tears them apart and throw in Jessica their stalker who goes to any length to get back with Travis. And we got. Suspense. Attempted murder and yes a death involved. Wow great story. Second Chance romances are my ultimate favorite trope! And I've been a fan of thriller / suspense ever since I was a kid. This book checks both, it's a Romantic Suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat throughout. I think this was a great story and was rooting for Jake and Margot right from the start.

If you read the first book in this series, Never Give Up, you'll be happy to know that Brian and Maya play fairly important roles in this book too, and I love that we get to see what's up with them. If you haven't read it, don't worry, this is a standalone, you don't need to have read the previous book. But I think it helps enhance the reading experience if you do.

I love that Jake and Margot were best of friends first. They are soul mates and have known each other since childhood and were a large part of each others lives. Margot looked up to Jake, and Jake was always her protector. As adults their love for each other blooms from friendship to intimate love. When something life-changing happens, Margot leaves, running away from her issues. Five years later, she returns to Birch Harbor. Where she tries to deal with her past and learn to move on to her future. Jake is hoping to be part of her future.

Thank you Rue Lennox for this ARC. The above are my own and honest opinions.

"You can be Margot to everyone else. But to me, you'll always be my Lilly-girl."

I love Rue Lennox's characters and storytelling. The romance is always good, and the suspense pulls me in every time.

Jake and Margot's story is second chance, it's small town, and it's workplace. These two are just meant to be together. The journey back though was easier than expected, except for the major events happening in Birch that kept popping up. The suspense in this story was intriguing, and I figured out who the "villain" was pretty quickly.

The only thing that I struggled with, while reading, was the speed of the book. It felt like it was rushed. From Margot returning to Birch, to the second chance romance, to all the suspense-something was just off. I still enjoyed the story, and am loving the series. There is something about being back in Birch that just makes me so happy.

I loved the way this storyline developed and how the history of the couple was gradually unfolded more and more throughout.

Deeply in love, Margot and Jake didn’t work out for 2 reasons, the age gap making her want to learn more about herself before committing her life to Jake, and a tragic event that eventually broke them.

Back in each others worlds, one oarty is still in full denial and the other is in full mission mode to get them back to where they were.

This story packs and emotional kick and has a lot to it. The characters bring a lot of depth to the story and the way they love each other is epic.

Speaking of characters…there are a lot of them and to be honest I did struggle to get them all and keep them all straight - and this is only book 2 🫣
I also struggled a little with timelines and how they married up to the previous book but if I let all that go, this was a super read.

An emotional second chance romance. Margot/Lily and Jake meet while kids, he is 8 years older and was her knight in shining armor. They have a complicated past, and she ran away both to grow up and from the pain of miscarrying their baby.

She returns to Birch Harbor when her friend Maya sends her a text message to come home due to an emergency. On the way into town she’s stopped for speeding and it’s Jake. All the emotions come back to the surface.

Jake and Margot both have emotions to work through, they have to learn to work together when she takes a new job for the county, and then an arsonist starts terrorizing the community by setting buildings on fire while people are working in them.

A solid and emotional read with plenty of action/drama to keep you fully engaged in the storyline. I love all of the author’s Birch Harbor books, and eagerly look forward to the next one.

This is book two of this series, told in dual first person POV and leaves you with a HEA. This book can be read as a standalone, but is more enjoyable if it is read in order. Have tissues handy, because this one will definitely have you feeling all the emotions!

I am a sucker for second chances and this story did not disappoint! I loved the flashbacks that built more depth. I love the connection not only between Margot and Jake, but Margot and Maya. I love that Jake let Margot go to grow up, but when she returned, was determined to prove to her she still owned his heart. I loved that Margot knew in her heart that she belonged to Jake but still tried to be her own person and prove her worth.

I love this series and can’t wait to see who the next couple will be, I hope it is Logan and Poppy 😜.

Wow!! I had no expectations going into this book and ended up loving it!!

Never Too Late is a second chance romance. Jake and Margot Lilly have known each other their whole lives and with their age gap, they went from friends to lovers.

I loved Jake and Margot’s connection. I loved that they were each other’s home and soulmate. I hate how the book ended so abruptly and wish there was a bit more of them! A good chunk of the book was Jake trying to win Margot back and the mystery of arson going on in their town.

Without spoilers, I do wish they got to talk about part of why Margot left, I felt like they never got the chance to grieve together.

Rue Lennox created another fantastic world that will draw you in and make you fall in love with her characters.

Margot returns to her home town upon an urgent request from her best friend. Upon her return she encounters an ex lover, old friends, sexy cops, hot firefighters, and her world is suddenly flipped upside down.
Who doesn't like a man in a uniform? Well, when you work with emergency services, they're literally surrounding you.

Jake is stunned by the sudden appearance of his ex and he's in for a shock.
There's a difference in growing into a love you've known and learning to fall in love with a grown version of your childhood love.
When your love is in danger, all holds are barred and nothing will stand in your way to ensure that that love will endure.

This is such a brilliant second chance romance.
Margot is back in town after her best friend called with an emergency and of course the first person she sees is her ex Jake.
Jake is shocked to see his ex Lilly-Girl back in town but she gets away from him as fast as she can.
Can they get back to how they were when tragedy tore them apart and he has a girlfriend.
So much love, drama and emotion in this book with so much suspense throughout but when another tragedy happens they are pulled back together but will they get their HEA when someone is trying to keep them apart.
A must read.

This is Book 2 in the Birch Harbor: Damaged Heroes Series by this author. It is a second chance romance between former lovers, Margot and Jake. These flawed characters and the unique plot make for an interesting read. Once they re-connect, their sizzling chemistry and strong connection are undeniable as they navigate the bumpy road to their forever after. It is a love story with drama and steam, sexual tension and chemistry, and twists and turns, plus appealing secondary characters to keep the reader interested. An emotional read.

Jake and Margot have been in love for years but she up and moved away after she miscarried their baby but when her good friend calls her with an emergency she comes back. Margot never left Jake's heart even when she moved across the country and when she comes back his mission is to get his girl back. There are twist such as an arsonist and killer who almost killed Margot. I would have like the ending to be completed in a better way but this is still a good book of second chances with some danger and suspense.

Jake and his Lily-girl drew me in and had me all caught up in their emotional journey to love. They have known each other since they were kids, and it was then that their fates were determined. One traumatic incidence broke them apart and sent them in separate directions, but fate intervened and brought them full circle back to where they belonged together. This is a touching story that had me connecting with both Jake and Margot.

Be ready for a crazy ride through emotional town. This book had me on the edge of my seat in places, crying my eyes out in some and swimming through oodles of love vibes in others. The path for the two main characters and some of their friends is definitely not smooth or easy. It is hard, twisty and angsty. It most assuredly kept my interest engaged until the very last page. I am looking forward to reading about more of their friends' relationships.

Margot and Jake were happy together until a tragedy tore them apart. Now 5 years later Margot is back after getting called by her friend in an emergency. The desire and attraction is still there between them. Expect drama, suspense, emotion and more. When tragedy strikes again will it bring them closer together this time or will they forever be torn apart?...

Never Too Late is an enjoyable second-chance romance telling Jake and Margot Lilly's story about how they could no longer fight going from friends to lovers.
Jake and Margot’s connection is very well done but I did dislike how the book ended so abruptly, I wanted more of them! Much of the story tells how Jake tried to win Margot back but there's also a mystery about arson in their town.
