Rate this book
From NYT and USA Today bestselling author A.L. Jackson comes an enemies-to-lovers, small-town, second-chance romance…

Logan Lawson won me in a bet.
The second I saw him sitting at the illegal card table, I knew I was in trouble.
Years ago, he sealed my fate and condemned me to a life I didn’t want to lead.
Yet he’s filled with untamed fury and thirsting for vengeance.

Aster Costa is everything I never should have wanted.
The second she showed, I should have gotten up and walked.
But there’s no looking away from the woman who wrecked me.
Worse, I can’t stop myself from plotting to get her back.

I want nothing more than to be free of my chains.
I’m afraid Logan Lawson is the only one who can make that happen.
He might hate me for our past, but now it’s me on my knees begging for help.

Finding each other in the middle of it wasn’t supposed to be part of the bargain.
But once Logan touches me, I’m gone.
A torch is rekindled. A fire is lit.

Aster Costa has always been mine.
And this time, no matter the cost, I won’t give her back…

"Even if I can't see you, I'll know you're there, and I'll find my way to you."
There are books that make you want to live in them and experience what the characters are going through. Some of it will be painful, hard to watch and feel, and it will gut you. But what if it's all worth it in the end?
Reading Never Look Back was like feeling the kind of love that was always meant to be, pushed down but never forgotten, written in the stars.

"From the moment I met Logan Lawson, he'd made it difficult to stand on my own two feet."
After reading the other two books in the series, I thought of Logan as a less-serious-than-his-brothers playboy. A goofball. Someone with an easier approach to life when compared to Trent and Jud. Boy, was I wrong.
This man is a swoonfest. The things he says will melt anyone's heart. The things he does will want you to throw caution to the wind and follow him anywhere. The best part? He's the kind of guy who would follow you, too.

"Loving her is the only thing I've ever done right."
Aster has been through so much in her life. Maybe most people can't tell, because she's tried hard to put on a mask and pretend. Pretend that she didn't lose the only person who mattered years ago. Pretend that it needed to be this way and that she needs to get used to it. As if she could ever forget Logan. But inside... It's a whole different story.

"What if we had made a million mistakes and those mistakes led us astray and we got lost and wandered for years? And what if, after all of it, we ended up at the very same place?"
Aster and Logan were young and in love. The letter-exchanging, secret-meeting-spot love. A love that wasn't meant to be from the start. Two families who could not be joined, a world that wouldn't welcome them. They planned to leave it all behind, but one night changed everything, or almost everything. Because what they feel for each other is still there, hiding under layers of hurt and resentment.

"And you have a hard time looking at me."
"The fucking problem is I can't seem to look away."

Seven years later, they meet again, at opposite sides once more. Logan wins her on a bet, ironically because all she wants is to be set free from the world she's still a part of. Like they'd dreamed of all those years before. She turns to him for help, trusting that the boy she loved is still somewhere inside him.
And Logan is still that same boy, but so, so much more.

"Beauty. My heart. My poetry."
"You are every word I've ever written."

Still, even after all this time, it can't be. They can't be. Or can they? They fight hard against the pull, because one heart calls out to the other. But they can't trust, not after what happened before. There's too much guilt, too much hurt, too much to let go. However, there's also so much chemistry and so much love. The tension between them was almost as insurmountable as the love they share. And it was wonderful to see it bring them to their knees.

"It wasn't temporary. It was yesterday. It was today. It was forever."
They know they will have to fight. Against the rules, the past, and even the present, for a future that is not guaranteed. Life has already failed them once, and chances are it'll do it again.

Their relationship was beautiful. I can't find another world to describe it. Amy's very unique writing style makes sure you're part of their world, that you're there with them, that you feel what they feel.
And then she turns all the hurt into a love story for the ages.

"You are the end of every road."
There's a piece missing in both of them, and wherever they might have been, they were bound to come together again. Their story couldn't just end the way it did because they belong to each other. They were worth fighting for. It’s a real second chance, and bittersweet, because it should have been a first chance. But they’ll grab it, and they won’t look back.

You’re going to make me regret this, aren’t you?”
“It seems fair since I’ll be regretting you for the rest of my life.”

If there's one thing that AL Jackson knows how to do, is to hit her readers right in the feels with the force of a Mac truck. And this book? Well, it didn't just hit you in the feels. It ran them over. Then backed up and ran over them again for good measure. And this girl? I was so here for it!
I hate you. You’d do well not to forget it.” It sounded of pain. A rush of regret. Hurt that slayed. My arms curled tighter around his neck.
“I hate you, too.” I guessed we were both good at tellingeach other lies.

I love a second chance romance. There's just something so utterly delicious about the angst of a second chance. And Aster and Logan's journey to a hea was a special kind of emotional torture that I couldn't get enough of.

I fell hard for the Lawson brothers the second I met them in Give Me a Reason. And I never thought I'd love an MC more than the uber intense Trent. But Logan definitely made a liar out of me. The youngest brother is a genius when it comes to numbers, and it makes him a dangerous man to sit across a card game from. Especially when the stakes are as high as what he plays for. When a man from his past walks to the table, he knows immediately what he wants. His wife. And what's a girl to do when your husband bets you in a poker game and then loses? Take the chance to run and grasp to a better life that you didn't dare dream of. Even if the man you dreamed of it with now wants nothing more to do with you.

I loved this emotional story so much. Logan hates Aster for what he thinks happened years ago. But nothing is at it seems, and the life that Aster had been forced to endure made my heart hurt reading about. Especially seeing Logan's contempt to her. But that contempt didn't take long to disappear in the midst of their explosive chemistry, no matter how much they fight it. Though I did wish they fought it a bit harder and longer. What can I say? Angst addict problems, right?

This is probably my favorite book in the series so far. It was packed with steam, emotion, secrets and betrayals. I love Jackson's way of weaving just the right amount of suspense into her romance to keep you eagerly turning the pages. Her signature prose gave it a bit of the lighter tone at the end, and I didn't mind because it needed that. I can't wait for more in this series. Particularly her sister's story because YES!

5 Star Review Never Look Back (Redemption Hills #3) by A L Jackson

Never Look Back is the third book in the Redemption Hills series and was a great addition to the series. It was well written and had me invested from the first to the last chapter.
This is Logan Lawson and Aster Costa’s story and it was everything I was expecting and more. The more I read the more I was drawn into the story that Ms. Jackson wove.
This is a second chance at love story and one that ticked all the boxes for me. Their history is complicated and when they meet again, the sparks are still there. However there are years of hatred and resentment that lie between them. Aster is in a marriage that she is desperate to escape from and she knows that Logan is the only person that can help her. I fell hard and fast for Logan. The chemistry sizzles between them and there were moments where I was on the edge of my seat whilst reading.
Winning Aster in a card came is beyond weird but it is her way out and one she will take. There were a number of twists and turns that will have you turning the pages anxious to see what comes next.
Will this be their chance to come to terms with the past, make peace and embark on a new journey together?

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: second chance
Angst: 😱😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

Just the perfect story for the youngest Lawson brother! I knew it would be a doozy, but oh my poor heart! Seven years ago Logan and Astor were broken apart by misunderstanding, greed, and devastation. Now, Logan Lawson is sitting across from Astor's husband with her as the ante. Never Look Back is the 3rd book in the Redemption Hills series by AL Jackson and can be read as a standalone, but best enjoyed when read in series order.

What an absolutely heartbreakingly wonderful story! Completely gripped me from the beginning until the last page was done. I love Ms. Jackson's distinctive writing style that flows almost like a poem. Logan is the jokester hero who has taken to masking his pain and he has been devastated and hardened by what he thinks happened between the two of them years ago. Even still, he's so very protective of Aster. Aster is trying to seize her future and is sick of being the possession she's been all these years. With Logan, she gets glimpses of what her life should have and could be and wants to grab it for herself. Absolutely beautiful and left me with all the feels ❤️.

4.5 'My soul’s destination' Stars!
ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Feels so good to be back in Redemption Hills! A.L. Jackson has created a book world I literally don’t want to leave. I completely fell in love with her writing after reading the first in the series and she continues surprising us with the next installments. Now it’s time for Logan to find his happy ever after but it’s not as easy as his personality portrays to be (flirty and fun), this book and story has so many layers and you don’t want to miss any of them.

So, Never Look Back is the third installment in Jackson’s Redemption Hills series and, as I said, it’s the story of the youngest Lawson brother, Logan. It happens to be a second chance / enemies-to-lovers (kind of) romance so I was all over it! Logan is a player and a man who knows how to deal with money investments. He is in an illegal card table when he reunites with the only woman he ever loved (and the one who broke his heart years ago), Aster Costa. But nothing is as it seems, and both will start to realize it when Logan wins Aster in a bet and they are “forced” to spend time together. Is it now their time to be happy?

“Why are you here, Aster?” Logan’s voice was gravel. “Why did you come back to me?”
“I don’t know if I could have ended up anywhere else.”

I do love a good second chance romance and A.L. Jackson doesn’t disappoint with Never Look Back. This series and Jackson’s writing just work for me in so many ways. Yes, the style is almost poetic, but I am a romantic at heart and I really enjoy that! Logan and Aster’s journey is not all hearts and flowers, they have to relive the past and it’s not easy for them. Both feel betrayed by the other and Aster also happens to be in a marriage that was arranged by her powerful father. But soon this couple starts to realize that what happened years before was not what they thought, and sparks start flying from the very moment they set eyes on each other again. I really enjoyed reading the journey of this couple, how they evolve after what happened and how their chemistry is impossible to stop. Yes, I do have to say the slow burn was quite slow at times (lol), but the pages were steaming with the intense connection between these two and I really enjoyed reading their journey back to one another.

“Even if I can’t see you, I’ll know you’re there, and I’ll find my way to you.”
“And there is no place my heart won’t find you. My North Star.”

Therefore, I am rating Never Look Back with 4.5 STARS because it gave Logan and Aster the second chance they deserved. I am so happy this couple finally found happiness, especially after so much hurt takes place because of their past. Of course, I was extremely happy to go back to this world and keep up with the rest of the couples and characters in the series. Tessa’s book is next, and I cannot wait to read this sassy woman's love story. I hope the author has more stories ready for this series because I don’t want to say goodbye yet!

"He was the most striking man I'd ever seen. Then. Now. Forever."

Aster Rose & Logan Lawson had seen each other for the last time, seven years ago. They planned to run away from a life full of crime and danger, to stay together forever but circumstances made them suffer a different fate. Though when they faced each other seven years later, Aster is determined to be set free and Logan wins a bet in which he wins her. But Aster is in big trouble now and there's nowhere else she could go other than Logan's place. This time Logan is determined to fight for what they lost even if it meant putting everything at stake and going against Aster's father and husband. I loved both Aster & Logan, their chemistry was intense and palpable. When the past was finally revealed, it broke my heart to know what Aster had to go through. Overall the book was well written, with a solid plot and lots of angst. It's a second chance, enemies to lovers romance told in dual pov and the third installment in this series. I enjoyed this one but probably some parts felt repetitive and dragged a little for me. Still, the twists were interesting and the characters did not disappoint.

STEAMY! EMOTIONAL!! ANGSTY!!!

Logan Lawson just asked his big bro Trent to hold his beer....while he made me fall in love with him! Yes, I said what I said. AND isn't that exactly a Logan Lawson thing to do?!?! I always knew I'd love this one! He has always been that carefree and loving uncle to sweet Gage and then Juni when she came along. His relationship with them alone would have you swooning. But the emotions and love that oozed from Logan in this book didn't threaten his sexiness in any capacity. AND Aster! Hello my badass little friend! I loved her courage and tenacity! She is exactly the kind of woman I pictured with this man!

Jackson had me on the edge of my seat constantly with all these questions rolling through my mind as their love story slowly unfolded! Needing to know every single detail! My heart in my throat for most of the book and she just did NOT disappoint! At all!

I am obsessed with these Lawson brothers and it's entirely possible that Trent is still my #1 Lawson man but boy did Logan give him a run for his title! Can't leave sweet Jude out, that man broke my heart. Just know that if you haven't read these books at all....I highly recommend them. They could be read as standalones because each brother has their own story to tell and Jackson does a great job of giving you little pieces of their overall backstory so you don't feel left out. BUT why wouldn't you want every Lawson brother if you could have them!

I don't think I've ever cheered on a couple like I did Aster and Logan. Their journey together broke my heart but it was also so beautifully written that I couldn't help but fall in love with it. They had a connection that was evident on every page even through the pain and the hate they shared.

Aster had a quiet strength that I really admired. She went through so much in her life but she didn't let it break her and it had her finding her way back to Logan even after years of heartache. Logan actually surprised me in this book with his seriousness and intensity. He seemed more laid back and easy going most times in the previous books but in this story we discover there's a lot more to him and it made me love him even more. He was a full on protector and it was swoon worthy to see him take on that more badass roll.

Overall, this is a definite must read. The Lawson brothers have me wanting to go back and start the series from the beginning again while waiting for the next installment, which I'm dying for!

*STEAM FACTOR ALERT: LOGAN & ASTER'S CHEMISTRY IS NOT ONLY OFF THE CHART, THEY COMPLETELY INSINERATE IT!*

What do the terms “sexy, gregarious and charismatic” all have in common? Look them up in the dictionary and you’re likely to find this name—LOGAN LAWSON. The youngest of the Lawson brothers, Logan is the very epitome of these enviable traits, at least from the outside looking in. But he’s also a bit of an enigma. Logan holds a dark secret like a shield, deflecting his inner turmoil through the care-free, happy-go-lucky persona he outwardly projects to all those ensnared in his orbit. But when the past and present unexpectedly collide—knocking his carefully constructed world off its precarious axis—Logan is hard-pressed to reign in the emotions begging to be set free. Because suddenly entering his trajectory and standing before him is Asta Costa Urso… the one woman that Logan gave his heart to and the one woman who handed it back to him in pieces.

In “Never Look Back,” an enemies-to-lovers, second-chance romance, A. L. Jackson delivers yet another emotionally-driven, passionate story that will truly pull at your heartstrings. Logan and Aster’s early quest to reach their HEA veered off course, becoming a long and complicated journey paved with good intentions and a series of very poor choices. But, in the end, love truly conquers all. And that is the mantra that all A. L. Jackson’s books fully embrace. That all-encompassing theme is served up through this author's unique and exquisitely beautiful prose and the very reason I bow to this queen of romance, who continues to reign supreme!

Although “Never Look Back” is the third installment in this author’s Redemption Hills series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. But, be warned… once you get a taste of these deliciously decadent Lawson brothers, you will want to dig in and feast on the entire series! Indulging in these bad boys is a guilty pleasure you’ll never get your fill of!!

Amy's done it again. Never Look Back is an emotional ride that will gut you, make you smile, laugh, get you hot, have you rooting for the MCs and leave you feeling content in the love that drives Aster and Logan to their HEA.

I just knew there'd be more to Logan than the joker, playboy persona that he presents to the world. He's the Funcle to Gage in the Cage and Juni Bee but underneath all the laughs and jokes is a man who’s grieving the loss of his first love.

This is a second chance romance but they really have to work for it. When he wins her in a round of cards he sets the wheels in motion for their crazy ride to reigniting their love. With her signature lyrical quality Amy weaved sorrow and heartache into this one. There are missed connections and misinterpretations that left both of them reeling years ago. Now Logan starts off wanting to prove he's moved on but quickly starts to feel all those possessive urges around her.

The heat is certainly here in this one but there are also tender, emotional moments too.

I loved the glimpses into their younger years and getting all the details of why the first time around it just wasn't meant to be.

Their love lived on and soon Logan is all about staking his claim and owning Aster in every sense of the word. She's his and he's hers and together they get their forever. The Little Star is reunited with her North Star and it is beautiful.

Well, I can say without a doubt that Never Look Back, the third book in the Redemption Hills series, exceeded my every expectation. I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting myself into when I started, not even bothering to read the synopsis, but good Lord was it everything I’ve ever dreamed of and then some. Love conquers all in this holy grail second chance, enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity romance.

"The first time I’d seen her, I’d known I’d never set my eyes on anything more beautiful. The girl was better than any flower or rainbow or piece of priceless art hanging in a museum. Aster Rose was my poetry.”

Aster Costa is the perfect balance of Eden and Salem. She’s seen a world of hurt and lived a life that no one, let alone an innocent, teenage girl, should have to live. But she persevered and while it might’ve built some walls around her heart, she’s wise enough to only let the ones that matter be the ones to tear them down. She’s got this quiet strength about her that I truly do admire. She’s taken on this careful demeanor that causes others to underestimate her. But make no mistake, this girl knows what she wants and won’t stop by any means. When she wasn’t fighting for her own life, she was fighting for her sister’s. She was fighting for her future family. She was fighting for love in all forms.

"And there I sat, staring at the face of my glorious, dark defender. My beautiful, sweet boy who’d loved me like loving someone was simple.”

Don’t even get me started on my man Logan Lawson. Yup, that’s right. I’m staking my claim, okay? It’s either Aster or me. Or both. I could do both. He was such a well-rounded character. While reading his brother's books, I was very intrigued to see how his character would play out in his own; if it would carry the same depth. Not only did his character translate seamlessly from the outside narrative to his own, but there was a whole other side of him I wasn’t expecting in the slightest. This big boy with a big heart also had big hurt. He’s been grieving what he believed to be the loss of his first and dare I say, only true love for the past seven years. There was this intensity about him that was unleashed once Aster stepped back into the picture. Turns out the carefree, golden boy has a dark side. One that rarely sees the light of day, but still exists. At the end of the day, this man would lay down his life for those he loves. His unending love radiates off him, palpable to no end. Logan Lawson is a family man. He’s openly expressed that his relationship with his nephew, Gage, has gotten him through these past seven years. That he’s his soul, his purpose for living and breathing. And to that I say, he can knock me up any day of the week.

I said what I said.

In conclusion, Logan is my favorite Lawson brother. There, I said it (just don’t tell him and his already inflated ego).

"Our worlds have always been against us.” I set my hand on the side of her face. “Then let’s burn it down.”

Ugh the chemistry was absolutely through the roof. Those two have always had the hots for each other and I’m living for it. There’s something about that forced proximity trope that just hit different this time. Look, the feminist in me wants to be disgusted that he literally won her during a card game, but that win gave them their second chance, so the hopeless romantic in me is going to call it fate. They’ve traveled quite the journey to meet again, two stars destined to shine together or not at all. The years they lost because of lies, heartbreak, and misunderstanding only made them that much more determined to rebuild the relationship they once had. I usually find with books that explore the “enemies-to-lovers” trope, there is an issue with pacing. But not between these two. It was clear that there was a sense of defeat that outweighed the attraction at times. Their chance at a happily ever after came only after they’d sifted through the aftermath of betrayal, revenge, and greed.

I will say, one of my only critiques does involve their…bedroom chemistry. I wanted variety, to spice it up a tad. Instead, their more intimate moments felt repetitive. I wanted them to take those years of built-up tension, both sexual and emotional, and just let loose.

Mad, mad love for our supporting characters though Naturally, Tessa stole the show, but not without competing with Mimi and Gretchen. Get those three in a room together and you have yourself a good time.

"Us Lawsons, we stick together. Through the good times and the really, really terrible times. And believe me, we’ve had some really terrible times.”

That Lawson love is unbeatable. Their willingness to open their arms to people that’ve gone against them in their past ways of life is inspiring. I find that beneath the message of love is one of forgiveness, a lesson we could all use every once in a while. Eden and Tessa especially have never looked back, only choosing to see the good in people and it’s what makes their bond one of my absolute favorites.

There was SO much suspense in this novel. While usually, I see at least one aspect of the bigger picture, I couldn’t predict anything. It wasn’t until the last 10% of the book that we started to see the full scale of their past decisions come to light.

Let me just say, hallelujah for full sentences! For those of you that’ve read any of the other books in the Redemption Hills series, I’m sure you’re also breathing a sigh of relief. While that lyrical sentence structure worked for Trent, Jud, and Milo, there’s something about Logan’s personality that just screams calculated. He’s a very well-thought-out, and intelligent individual and perhaps it’s because his childhood was much different than that of his brothers, but I just can’t imagine him talking, even if it is just internally, the way they did.

In regards to the pacing, I do believe the ending was wrapped up a little too soon. All of that anticipation just for the climax to be over in one chapter. I wasn’t getting the angst that we usually get.

While all the books in the Redemption Hills series can be read as stand-alones, I definitely encourage reading them all in order. It adds so much depth to each of their stories. Seeing the little glimpses of the families and knowing the trials and tribulations it took to get there is touching.

I could talk about this book forever, but I fear no amount of words will ever do it justice. So this is me trying (and hopefully succeeding) to use positive peer pressure to get you to read this series.

Though there is an interesting story at its heart, this book gets bogged down in parts by repetitive, overly-flowery, maudlin, prose coupled with a pacing problem. This is a classic case where an author gives readers too much "more." Because, sometimes? Less is more.

I enjoyed some of the more emotional and flowery passages... but then I'd read the same sentiment in basically the same words over and over again to the point where the words lost their meaning and power. There was also a lot of repetition in the steamy scenes and inner monologues, which also bogged down the story.

This book would have been a solid four-star rating for me... except for the fact that it was about 50-100 pages too long. Had the pacing been tighter and the prose less repetitive and overwrought, I would have rated this higher. That being said, fans of the series won't be disappointed.

“Even if I can’t see you, I’ll know you’re there, and I’ll find my way to you.”

Never Look Back is a second chance love story that is exploding with emotion. The beautiful, romantic prose will have you feeling EVERYTHING. With a past that tore them apart due to lies, betrayal and misconceptions, Logan and Aster are FIRE and their connection is palpable.

“He’d always been my heart’s direction. I wasn’t sure there was anywhere else I could have gone.”

Bound by a promise that forced her into a life she did not want, Aster has just been surviving for seven years. When she sees Logan again, she grasps at the chance to reclaim her life, but will their past destroy them all over again?

“Every day we were apart, I was missing a piece of myself, Logan. I was missing you. You.”

Aster broke my heart. She had been through so much pain in her life and yet her spirit was still so beautifully pure. I loved her strength and her determination to fight for what she wanted.

“It hurts because we didn’t end up where we were supposed to. Because there has been a piece missing in each of us. An ache that can never be filled.”

Logan was such a revelation. His charming, full of life, playboy exterior hide a heart that was in pieces. His devotion to Aster was breathtaking and couldn’t be denied even when he pretending to hate her.

“We were always supposed to be together. We just got lost along the way.”

The journey that these traveled was excruciatingly difficult and it was rife with pain and heartbreak, but watching them rebuild their relationship gave me all the feels. Their passionate banter and sizzling chemistry leapt of the page.

“Everything I’d ever done had been done for her. Every lie told in her favor.”

I both listened and read this amazing book. The audio is narrated by Andi Arndt and Zachary Weber. They were superb. Their voices reflected all the emotional turmoil and love that these two characters felt and made me fall in love with the story even more.

“We fight together. We live together. We love forever.”

Full of angst, emotional and physical trauma, lies, betrayal, revenge, greed, and passion, Aster and Logan’s story will take you on a heartbreaking journey of love and loss. These two faced so much pain and heartache that each were afraid to hope for the future that both thought was lost. Their story is riddled with so much angst yet you know that these two truly belong together and will fight for their chance. This is a stunning conclusion to the Redemption Series and I loved every minute.

Little Star. One tiny star hidden in a vast cosmos. The only one I can see.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐|5
🌶️🌶️🌶️|5

GENRE: dark // suspense // former mc romance
TROPES: tortured hero/heroine // lovers to enemies to lovers // second chance // small town romance // forbidden love
POV: dual
TW: physical and mental abuse (not by H) // unaliving
CLIFFHANGER: no!
HEA: yes!

I live in Redemption Hills. I live here now and never looking back (was that funny? no? okay). I was first introduced to this series (out of order) when I received an ARC for Say It's Forever. I loved this book. I talk about Jud and Salem whenever I can because THEY ARE EVERYTHING TO ME. It's my #2 read of the year and I can't see that changing 😍 I also adoreeddddd Eden and Trent in Give Me a Reason.

I have needed Logan's book for months and thankfully I didn't need to wait long. He was everything I thought he was going to be and MORE. He was so goofy and charming in the first two books, especially with Gage in the Cage, so I didn't expect for him to have such a darkness in him. I was so surprised, but in the best way. Even though I shouldn't have been because Jackson always seems to give all her characters so many layers.

"This is a bad idea, Logan."
"You were the best idea I've ever had."
"And we still ruined each other in the end."
"Who said it was the end."

Aster Rose. My sweet girl. I honestly loved diving back into their pasts and watching it all unfold. It was TRAUMATIC. Like, why must they all go through such horrible things. My poor babies 🤧😭😭😭 I think I've said this before in one of my other reviews, but I love the way A.L. Jackson writes her stories. Her writing style is poetic. That's the only way I can think to truly describe it.

"They say the devil is so beautiful you wouldn't be able to look at him if you saw him in his original form."
"And you have a hard time looking at me."
"The fucking problem is I can't seem to look away."

I feel invested in all the charatcers of Redemption Hills and I seriously CANNOT WAIT for the next one, Promise Me Always. I'm hoping it's Tessa and Milo's book 👀 but we'll see!

never look back is the 3rd book in the redemption hills series and follows the 3rd lawson brother, logan. i do not know what i was expecting for logan in his book but oh my gosh.. it was amazing.

logan and aster definitely surprised me. their love story is not all smiles and joy. but what was beautiful was how through all the pain and hurt, these two were still madly in love with each other even years later. this book kept me on the edge of my dang seat!! it was like i was waiting for a shoe to drop omg. BUT IT WAS AMAZZZING! i can’t even say much about the plot because i feel like it would be a spoiler but trust when i say it was way too good. i never wanted to stop reading until we uncovered everything and everything. these books just keep on being amazing & i cannot wait for the next book!

Once again, AL Jackson has created an unforgettable story line & it’s perfectly told on audio!

Many thanks to the author and Valentine PR for the listener’s copy.

Never Look Back
(Redemption Hills #3)
By A.L. Jackson

Logan Lawson, the youngest of the Lawson brothers, the fun uncle, the man who has a gift for making money…but is this the real Logan Lawson or is there something that haunts him, memories that hold him hostage, is the Logan we know the real Logan Lawson?

Aster Rose, she hasn’t seen him since the night she ended it all, the night she told him how she felt, the night that she can never forget. This is now and she still can’t look at him until the stakes of the game being played between her husband Jarek Urso and Logan are raised and money is no longer on the table.

A young love that was destroyed by circumstance had them become enemies until that fated night. Even being apart seven years has not damped the string that pulls them together, the passion, his devotion, the steam, the tender touches and the words have made them stronger than their beginning.

Seven years of lies that were so toxic and woven into a web that was never meant to be ripped apart become emotional days and tortured nights as their buried love begins again. From there, the emotions readers and characters go through are heartbreaking. With danger a given it seems like it is just a matter of time. Yet friendships are forged and with the help of a secret spy, the lies may soon be uncovered.

I am a slave to Author AL Jackson and her highly charged emotional stories and I have to say for all I love her works; she held me captive and had me invested on every single page. Putting this book down was not to be. I had to read on, I had to find the good and then bad and I knew I had to get to the end.

With all the dark and emotional parts there were also parts that had me laughing at Gage and Juni Bee who brought the best of comedy when needed. Along with those two cute 6 year olds, high fives to Gretchen and Mimi….these two are who I would like to grow up to be.

Pick this book up if you haven’t already read it, know that the action does not stop once and be prepared to fight along side of Logan and Aster Rose.

**Audio Review **

Oh, my stars! Never Look Back by A.L. Jackson was a devastatingly beautiful emotional second chance enemies to lovers romance that tugged at my heartstrings in all the right places. I am loving each trip back to the small town of Redemption Hills. Logan and Aster’s journey to HEA is full of past heartache which leads to a hopeful future. Plus, Logan may be my new favorite Lawson brother, swoon!

Zachary Webber and Erin Mallon narrate this audiobook, and these two delivered all the feels! In Zachary’s performance, you could feel all of Logan’s demanding, determined, and gentle emotions as he took care of his “little star” that had always belonged to him. (so dreamy) Erin was amazing showcasing Aster’s growing confidence and passion as she finally stood up for herself and went after what she truly desired. Since these two have a past history, their chemistry was even hotter when they reunited, and Zach and Erin showcased this brilliantly! Also, their kid voices are adorable!

Overall, I LOVED this audiobook! If you are a fan of a second chance enemies to lovers romance with a hot hunky dark defender north star, fierce, brave little star, poker matches, a cute niece and nephew, devoted brothers, dedicated sassy housekeeper, clearing up past history, a stubborn intimidating father, jealousy, secrets, danger, slow burn steamy times, climatic gripping action, and a HEA that proves thirty days can lead to your heart’s forever destination, then you will love Logan and Aster’s story. I always look forward to more from A.L. Jackson!

Logan Lawson is your quintessential "fun guy" - the "life of the party" playboy, the coolest uncle to Gage and Juni Bee... but underneath it all lies a heart that's deeply hurt. "You can't keep shining when you only shine to cover the darkness you hold onto." He's gone legit (almost) when his brothers flew the MC family they were raised into, but his thrill-seeking ways send him to an illegal card game. And in one of these games, he wins her in a bet - the woman who broke him.

Aster Costa can't believe her eyes when she sees the man who sealed her fate, condemning her to a life worse than death. Now her horrible husband lost her in a bet to the man who destroyed. Logan was responsible for what happened to her and now she'll beg him to help her escape the world never wanted to belong to. She never forgot him. He never wanted to leave her. Now Fate threw them together. This time he will keep her. She was his "little star" and he was her "North Star" and they finally found their way back to each other.

OMG, what a ride! I've been in love with the Lawson boys from the start and I have a soft spot for Logan. I knew there had to be something dark underneath all that devil-may-care attitude and boy, it was a doozy! This story made laugh, cry, gasp and have really dark thoughts against the people who kept the "little star" away from the "North Star".

This is Amy at her best - her almost lyrical style is perfectly matched to this dark fairytale-like story. There is a princess, there is an evil monster and there is our tarnished hero. They'll go through a veritable quest to get to their HEA, but it's so worth it.

Absolutely loved it! I'm drained, but I loved it!

Narration: You get Zachary Webber being dark and swoony and Erin Mallon being both vulnerable and badass. A thousand stars for the duo.

Possible triggers: I'm not going too be specific to avoid major spoilers, but this is a dark tale where unspeakable things happen to the MCs. (Contact me for further details if needed)

I voluntarily read/listened and reviewed an advanced copy of this (audio)book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.  Thank you @aljacksonauthor and @valentine_pr_ for the advanced copies.

“They say the devil is so beautiful you wouldn’t be able to look at him if you saw him in his original form.”

“I wanted to beg him to stop. To tell him I couldn’t deal with this. That this push and pull was killing me. The gravitation and the disgust. The hatred and the echo of a star-crossed love.”

“You are the existence that forever burned within me, Aster. You are the belief that I can live right. Do fucking better. Proof I can have a bigger purpose than this superficial bullshit that I’ve been chasing after. When I walk into a room? I want to walk in it for you. When I get up in the morning? I want to rise for you. When I live this life? I want to live it for you.”

Never Look Back is a lyrical and compelling masterpiece that will consume you from the very beginning. From the moment Logan wins Aster in a card game you know all bets are off and you’re in for one heck of a ride.

Never Look Back is an all-consuming enemies to lovers, star-crossed, second-chance romance that will take on the most amazing journey. A journey filled with secrets and regrets, pain and hope. A journey filled with love and second chances. The writing will slay you in the best possible way and leave readers begging for more.

Logan and Aster’s road to happily ever after isn’t an easy one. No, this author made her characters work and fight for their happy ending. This story is filled with explosive chemistry, an undeniable pull, and buried feelings that refused to be ignored. Every bit of danger, drama, and heartache was worth the ride this story took my heart on.

A.L. Jackson has delivered an unforgettable, heart-pounding romance. I didn’t know how badly I needed this story until I got lost in it. I loved every second of this story from beginning to end and hope you will fall head over heels for Aster and Logan’s story just as I have.

Never Look Back is the angsty read I didn’t know I needed! The emotions in this book had my heart in a vise and I couldn’t put the book down!!

The book starts off strong! No skirting around just straight for the heart and from there I was a mess till the end of the book! Aster and Logan have a history strewn with love and filled with pain!

I loved seeing Logan in a way I hadn’t before! He’s the comedic relief of the brothers but seeing how big his heart is and how fiercely he loves was beautiful! The love between him and Aster can not be denied but she’s the wife of another and that proved to be the heart of all issues!

This book was full of laughter, tears, so much pain but the ending was so beautiful it made it all worth it!

I'm quite disappointed with this one to be honest :( the first two books of redemption Hill were phenomenal. I fell in love with Trent and Judd and their women and was so excited for the final brothers book because of how funny he was but I didn't love the writing or the plot. It felt forced and there was no personality for either MC despite logans personality in other books. It also felt like any other Mafia books which is so outdone now they are only good when they shine above all stories and this one unfortunately did not. I read this story after an amazing 5 star read that stole the show so I don't know if I'm just being too harsh?...

While I loved Trent’s and Jud’s stories, and I liked this one, it dragged.
Same words. Same sentences. Same paragraphs. Too much. Too repetitive.
Jackson’s writing is poetic and lyrical. But it takes so long to get to the point sometimes. I find myself skimming in the middle.

Release Date: 29 August
Tropes: enemies to lovers, second chance romance, secret romance, mc romance, mafia vibes
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Genuinely one of my most anticipated read of the year! And this sure did not fail my expectations!
Holy heck, I was enamored with Logan from the very first book, his relationship with Gage and the way he was just always there to back up his brothers was so endearing. There are just some books that leave an impact on you, and not only did this one book do that, but the entire series. These brothers and their stories were all so beautiful yet heartbreaking. I went through just about every emotion reading these books.
I digress, let's talk about Logan and Aster Rose in this one. This second chance love story was...wow. Now, is this grammatically correct? NO. But just a heads up, most of this review won't be because I don't know how to properly articulate everything that I felt when reading this.
Aster walked out on Logan seven years ago, and now all this time later. She's back. And he's not letting her go....even though she's married to someone else. This man is absolutely gone for this woman. Although he does feel some sort of resentment for the hurt he's been through- his love for her is greater. This second chance romance is not an easy one, nothing comes to these two easily. They fight for their love. And it's so beautiful to read about. This Little Star fought hard to get her North Star back.
While the writing was steamy and downright gripping, the way it was written was something else. I felt every single emotion that these characters went through. I cried, laughed and swooned with them.
I'm so happy they got their happy ending! I'm so looking forward to reading the next book, to see them live their happily every after's!

This was a perfect swoony, angsty and nail biting second chance romance for me and I loved it. From the moment Logan saw Aster at the card game it was obvious that they had history together and I was dying to know their story.

Ms Jackson gave us an amazing storyline in this book. Aster and Logan's back story was heart-breaking as they were cruelly torn apart as teenagers and Aster was forced to marry against her will, but it was the story in the present day that I found nail biting. I was so afraid for them as they battled the threats from Aster's crime boss father and her cruel husband. Aster was determined to escape no matter what it took and Logan was her hero was ready to defend and protect her while also fighting to get back the love of his life.

The heat and passion from Aster and Logan really was incredibly sexy and believable. Logan not just the perfect lover but is also an obvious game player though it was not clear until later in the book what his long term plan really was. Aster was his perfect match seemingly meek when needed but she showed she really had a backbone of steel and was prepared to do whatever it took to over come adversity and find happiness with Logan.

As always Ms Jackson's books are always difficult to put down and this one was no exception. It has lots of twists and turns that I didn't see coming but that made me quickly turn the pages for more.

The Redemption Hills series is one of Ms Jackson's best and though I have loved all the books I think that Never Look Back has to be my favourite so far.
