About the author
R.L. Kenderson is two best friends writing under one name.
Renae has always loved reading, and in third grade, she wrote her first poem where she learned she might have a knack for this writing thing. Lara remembers sneaking her grandmother’s Harlequin novels when she was probably too young to be reading them, and since then, she knew she wanted to write her own.
When they met in college, they bonded over their love of reading and the TV show Charmed. What really spiced up their friendship was when Lara introduced Renae to romance novels. When they discovered their first vampire romance, they knew there would always be a special place in their hearts for paranormal romance. After being unable to find certain storylines and characteristics they wanted to read about in the hundreds of books they consumed, they decided to write their own. And since then, they branched off to contemporary romance and romantic comedy.
One lives in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and the other in the Kansas City area where they’re a sonographerand pharmacist, and they’re a sexy author by night. They communicate through phone, email, and whole lot of messaging.

I loved and appreciated the strong friendship that Griffin and Madeline had from the start. They were true best friends, but there were definite repressed attractions there. It was sweet how they were both there for one another and truly tried to do whatever they could to help one another.
There was grief and sadness in the storyline, and it certainly helped the depth of the characters. And while I enjoyed the story immensely, I still felt there was a little something missing. I can’t exactly explain. Maybe I felt that there were some missing details or pieces to help me see the entire picture and world created here? Nevertheless, it was a fun and passionate book and I’d read it again.
This was a swift, easy read. The dual POVs were easy to follow without getting confused with the frequent shifting, and I enjoyed getting both perspectives. Thankfully — a noted improvement from my last book by the same author duo — this time the male perspective had just as much weight as the female viewpoint; here, it was more or less equal (that had been a con, my last time!). Griffin was dashingly handsome and sexy, and Madeline seemed to be a pretty girl up for a good time — but they still had their endearing side. As they’ve been friends forever, it was easy to see what each saw in the other. I enjoyed the dialogue, and there were some spicy bits that I loved which were well written, and overall this was a good read.
However, the story itself seemed far too simple: friends to lovers with a dash of drama that was easily resolved. It hit the trope boxes with very little deviation, and I wanted more. While I enjoyed reading, and there were funny moments, it wasn’t nearly as hilarious as the last book I’d read in the series (so perhaps my expectations were set high). While I was happy for the couple to get together, there was very little “newness” — these two already know each other inside out, so it was a bit lacklustre for me. I expected more drama, more contention, more temptation… just… well, more.
Though this book didn’t rock my world totally, it was still a good, short read with lively characters that kept me turning the pages to see what would happen. There was also an overall message here that I appreciated, and the role of grief and community friendship was heartwarming. While it wasn’t swoon-worthy enough for my picky tastes, I still liked it a lot and I would recommend to others who like their romance sexy and swift!
These two are funny and you want them to get their HEA. I love this book but buckle up because when it’s good it’s great and when it’s bad, Griff’s an a-hole.
RL Kenderson are now a one-click read for me. I don’t even have to know what the book is about. They deliver every single time. If you only have time to read one book over the holidays, make it this one! A five-star read and a great addition to the Love Like That Series. Don’t miss out.
I received an ARC and bought the book.
I have to say I loved this book. I loved how they owned their pasts and who and what they needed. I loved watching them take their relationship up a step and realize that they were perfect for each other. I loved how she was there to help him when he needed her the most and then admitting what she felt. I didn't blame him for struggling, but loved how he stepped up to the plate and made things right. Great read and cannot wait to read more in this series!

Nice level of spice with flirtatious characters would recommend.
