- it is actually the same lift as H.F. cheaper/couponed item,
- Titan was actually proposing ~10% rebate directly on their website.
I am probably not the most seasoned shopper...
But:
- the customer service was efficient and very helpful, + Amazon would have backed me up otherwise,
- the lift was delivered as per my schedule, and until inside my garage: absolutely no-hassle experience,
- good surprise was also that all the wheels are already mounted, just uncrate and roll it,
After the first days of usage, I have noticed :
- piston pedals work well, inviting nevertheless to do both pumping and release gently,
- it is sturdy enough for a 400Lb Suzuki V-Strom, the attach rings provided are sufficient
for the lateral strapping in my case,
- I will do some little work to affix the rear inspection plate in place, as it stands slightly off,
- I will find a better front wheel vise, the original one is not tall/strong enough,
- my lift doesn't settle down totally completely at first, even when piston is totally depressed.
it falls down the last ~1/4 of an inch by itself, ~ a minute later. I will check/solve this and make it sit /rest properly.
All in all , and for the moment, I am satisfied, as it is exactly what I was looking for, considering my budget.
My back is also thanking me for the purchase.
(Picture attached from this pm session, replacement of sprocket shaft seal/ rear cylinder head cover seal/ clutch plates, etc, etc... please excuse the mess;o)
May 2020 update:
Hydraulic jack/piston defective within a year was replaced at no charge.
Replacement piston suffered same issue after about 6 month : even after proper air bleeding procedure,
internal seals failure precludes lifting up the plate.
I did use it properly, releasing the pressure on piston as soon as possible every time the lift was up,
Cheapest option now (passed guaranty period) is to open the jack/piston myself and change the seals.
If it works well for another year that would be worth it.
Nevertheless, poor design and low quality (I got what I paid for) being the principal suspects,
next issue with it will find me in the market for a better lift.
June 2022 Update.
It was not the seals but only the valve, who has a little metal ball. Cleaning the valve and changing
the oil was easy and enough to solve the issue. I found particles of solid dirt in the valve area.
All went back to normal after cleaning and refill. Still using the lift every week or so.
Something to obviously avoid : trying to lift higher than the highest it is supposed to go, meaning the second hole for the clamp bar. Otherwise the piston seal will leak after release. The additional inch height is not worth the pain. Adding a mini lift under the bike once on the lift give you the extra height you may want. Or adding a wood board under the central stand : enough gain in my case to clear the forks out to change their seals.
All in all it is a helpful tool. Not super sturdy but sturdy enough. Just pay attention : ensure the 4 wheels are each on the ground to avoid jiggling if garage floor uneven; don't over-shake a tall heavy bike once on it, even well strapped, etc... as it is only a light lift for amateur/week-end mechanics.
Current price tag is about twice what I spent 4 years ago. That was before Covid and the rise of transport costs... I would love a better lift, but as it's aint broken I keep it running.
