What these are, are very well made, very comfortable, easy to repair, lightweight, and most importantly FUN sounding headphones. These are honestly what I feel like most people who like Beats think Beats sound like. Yes they are bass heavy, but like most review you'll find they don't blow out every other instrument because of it. You can listen to classic rock, jazz, orchestral music, etc. on here and not feel (IMO) like you're missing much. But where it thrives are in the genres that have a lot of THUMP and you're going to feel it. And indeed, because of that, these also are EXCELLENT headphones for gaming. If you have a desktop microphone and are looking for a fun pair of headphones to play games with, the imaging on these and the low range THUMP are both good enough that you can use them somewhat competitively, but also have fun listening to all the carnage around you in most first person shooters especially.
For those wondering what I have to compare this too, I actually do have two pair of headphones normally used by folks who want a more flat analytical sound. MDR-7506s, professional Sony mixing headphones that have excellent vocal clarity for the price but are a bit lacking in the fun department because of it (they're just not made for it honestly, but if you are watching a movie or podcast or something they're still real good cans), and ATH-M50x's, the classic Audio Technicas. While a bit bassy for their reference style, they're still not as THUMPy as these Mezes. And out of the three? I know which one I'll be keeping hooked up to my PC the most. the Technicas and the MDRs might go with me on casual walks or to work, but for when I just want to have fun jamming or gaming? These are excellent.
Only problem I have with these out the box is if you are going to plug them into a PC, make sure to get their 3m 3.5mm chord. The one that comes with the Neo is a bit short for desktop use, so you'll be tethered pretty close to your PC if you don't.
Coming from a background of Beyerdynamic DT1770s, Audeze and V-Moda I can say that these are exceptional especially from a build quality standpoint. Now let's break down the main features and how the 99 Neos stack up:
Comfort: I can't even tell they're on my head most of the time, I wear them around 10-12 hours a day, for work, gaming and production. Very lightweight with plush and forgiving earcups for someone who wears glasses.
Sound: This is easily my favorite part about the headphones, the sound is so robust and lends itself to various genres including but not limited to Metal, EDM, Hip Hop, Rap and Big Band. All of the layers are discernable, the frequency response speaks for itself and they're very easy to drive, however I will always recommend a DAC/AMP if you want to unlock their potential.
I haven't even bothered to EQ these yet out of the box and I'm not even sure if I want to, which is a big statement because I had to tune the DT1770s fairly heavily.
Build Quality: I've handled a lot of things that are "Built like tanks" and these pair are no different. Plus Meze doesn't use glue or anything based on the literature so I imagine any service in the future will be comparatively easy.
tl;dr For $200 USD I don't think you can get a better pair of headphones, and I've been on the search in this price point. I'd urge you to give these a try because I'd be willing to bet you'll be pleasantly surprised.
GAMING: Very cinematic in games and sounds really good especially in single-player games. However, because these are closed back headphones I don't think the sound stage is great, it can feel a bit 'cramped', and these probably aren't the best for FPS games.
COMFORT: Unfortunately, I don't find these as comfortable as other folks claim. Even after stretching these out there is still a noticeable clamp and adjusting them can be uncomfortable. The cord is awful and splits very close to your neck and there is no way to adjust it; I find the cord frequently rubbing up against my neck and it's very irritating. The pads can become hot and sweaty; I actually bought memory foam pads to replace them because the stock ones are so bad, but unfortunately the memory foam ruined the sound signature of these headphones. I usually wear my headphones all day but I frequently find myself taking these off whenever I can and is a big reason I'm looking to replace these even though I love the sound signature.
Overall, these headphones sport a warm, bass heavy sound signature that sounds great for music and single-player games, but it's limited sound-stage and closed-back nature can make it feel cramped and not good for FPS games. While I adore the sound signature, if comfort is a big concern you may be disappointed.
Top reviews from other countries
The headphones are the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn. They are even comfortable when wearing glasses. The clamping force isn't very tight so they would not be the best pair of headphones to walk down the street with on. They also have good passive noise isolation but not great as they don't clamp on your head too tight.
The materials all feel very premium. The leather on the earcups is very nice to the touch and feels much better than leather earcups on other headphones in the same price range.
The included hard-shell case looks great and doesn't feel cheap by any means. It is a tad larger than other headphone cases however this makes it very easy to put them in the case or take them out on the fly which I prefer.
The mic quality is good but not great. I have $50 earbuds that have a better microphone than these but they are still good enough for phone/video calls and I have never had anyone on the other end complaint that they couldn't hear me.
I had an issue with my headphones when they arrived. One of the earpads had been damaged in the shipping process and wouldn't stay on the earcup. Customer support was very quick to fix the issue and offered to ship me new earpads, and entirely new headset, as well as compensation which I was not expecting from a premium headphone manufacturer. A+ customer support from a small vendor.
I would recommend these headphones if:
-You listen to a wide variety of music which includes bass heavy tracks as well as more vocal focused music.
-You will mainly be using these headphones while stationary such as at a desk.
-You want comfortable headphones you can wear all day.
-You want to enjoy your music and not analyze every note.
I would not recommend these headphones if you only listen to one genre of music or need exceptional passive noise isolation.

I use AirPods for convenience and when I want to sit down and just listen to music I use these. I currently just use Apple Music with the highest quality possible and just plugged in to my phone. I do plan on getting an amp but I’m debating whether they can sound better.
Anyway I am very happy with these.
