There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
So in my furry of tossing worn out but look new Allen wrenches I decided it was time to out an end to this whining at home and research and invest in a better set of tools (my normal path).
Part of me was excited and the other part was going nuts looking at the variables of prices and reviews. Top brands were not consistent and many of the smaller no name brands had reviews by a guy who only bought it for the case.
After going over several sellers versions of this type of handled Allen tool, I decided that the reviews were fair enough and that the tips were not a mix of inserts smashed in a tube to fit or horribly ground tips.
So far this set has been a winner in my books. Here are the positives so far:
Convertible Lengths or tip position
I can create a short tip and put 200lbs of weight behind it and if it lets go I only hurt my pride and no one goes to the hospital for a 6” deep puncture wound.
The handles feel good and do not slip in my hands
The backs are open so I can use them as a protective socket at times and still reach the fastener.
You can cut notches in the tip rod so you can have a more secure adjusted length for commonly needed work lengths where the handle gets in the way.
You can make some L wrenches longer by sticking them in the handle
The Negatives:
They are too purdy when next to my dirty used tools
They have a name that no one can say. FPVERA? Just out another word like “Stolen from ___________”.
That one always helps!
The fit is amazingly good so far on new fasteners. The pictures show some of the differences between the high dollar and this set.
What amazed me the most is that there was less wasted movement or looseness when twisting left or right so in another words… a man awesome fit!
But them! They are cheap and they will save you time and either grind down your old ones or toss them or give them to someone your not fond of.
If you found this helpful, toss me that up finger please! I don’t get anything but happiness knowing someone put up with my attempt at a review and humor. Have a great night (because who does this stuff during the day?)

After looking at the various offerings like Dynamite and others, decided to give these a try. The sizes in this set cover pretty much all the screw sizes in the truck. The handles are very nice. They have crosscut textured hollow aluminum handles. Thickness seems more than adequate for required strength. A set (grub) screw holds the bit stem in the handle. A flat spot on the stem is used to receive the point of the set screw. Seems like an adequate design. The set screw looks like adequate strength steel so the only long-term week point would be the aluminum that the handle is made of. Doesn't seem to be a problem from observation and hardness testing (scraping inner area with high carbon still drill bit. All in all, good.
The bit looks like strong enough steel and I was able to bend it ever so slightly so doesn't seem to be too brittle. The tips are definitely machined instead of molded/cast/etc. In fact. They are so well machined that they are actually sharp. While the edges around the perimeter aren't a problem due to the wider angle (more than 90 deg.). The tips themselves could scratch a diamond. An exaggeration of course, but only to make the point that they will scratch the finish on anything they come in contact with at almost any pressure level. This, for the perimeter, is a good thing in that it will benefit greatly in not stripping out the head of a screw. But a ever-so-subtle bevel should have been made at the end to aid insertion and eliminate the scratching potential.
The bad, insertion problems. In my attempt to remove the set screw in one of the handles, I found that the 1.5mm was too small and the 2.0mm was too big. I had to switch to another set of L shaped hex drivers to disassemble them. The set screw turned out to be a 2mm head. As a result, I decided to measure the bit end of each. The 1.5 was ok at 1.49 across each opposite face. The 2.0 was a bit high at 2.01 across two of the opposing faces and 1.99 on the third. The 2.5 and 3.0 shared a similar variance as the 2.0. Well I guess the set screws are at the low end of the tolerance and the bit is at the high end, actually over. Maybe a problem, maybe not.
So off to the truck to see what's what in the most important part of "the real world". I was able to test the 1.5, 2.0, and 2.5 as these are the majority of screws used on the Slash. The 1.5 fit fine and inserted completely with minimal effort. The 2.0 and 2.5 were able to be inserted fully but took a little extra force and slight wiggling. On the plus side, this tightness gives a very confident feeling when applying rotational force on the screw. You get the feeling that there is no way you could even partially strip or distort the head. In my initial testing, I found this a nice compensation for the increased effort required for insertion. Only time will tell if I continue to feel that way. Additionally though, an RC truck like this is usually covered, in every crevice, with dirt and sand...so tight bit tolerance can become problematic.
That's pretty much it for an initial inspection. I'll have to say that they appear to be of pretty good quality for the price. Use will probably break them in to some level. I might also take a very fine file to the ends to knock off the sharp points made at the corner edges. That should also help with initial insertion, but could create a little additional friction by wedging small debris instead of scraping it off the inner surfaces of the screw. Obviously, more experimentation is required.
I hope this review helps. Good luck.

As a plus the bits can be replaced or handles reused if needed since they're held into the handle with grub screws.
Update: The driver has began to rust on the shaft already... doesn't look like these will last for very long
