now and playing with it thouroughly. I had studied the many options available and this
just seemed to be the best value and best reviews.
My house is fairly large (>5000 sq/ft) and since it is fairly new, it is fully wired for ethernet
to a utility closet where I have Verizon FIOS @ 1GB speed. Lucky me... I work from home full-time
and have over 30 devices connected, so things have to be very reliable for me. This was great
and I worked wired and wifi for the entire week in my office without any issues.
I was replacing a pair of Linksys EA8500 routers that I had wired together and worked OK, but I did
not have true roaming which I really wanted. I had 2 SSIDs and had to play with some devices
to pick the right SSID. I tried to use the same SSID for each, but this just did not work
well, but I did use the same SSID for 2.4GHz and 5GHz and that was fine. Your Wifi devices
*should* pick the fastest connection they can. I really wanted a true Mesh system and full
roaming with just 1 SSID - I got that with the MeshForce.
I connected the 3 units to ethernet at the farthest reaches of my house with 1 unit
at the router itself where 1 of the Linksys routers was. I tried one unit on and off of
wired/wifi by itself for a day and they still worked perfectly fine in both cases.
Since this company is somewhat unknown, I wanted to know if I was getting a solid firewall.
Very little mention of this in the reviews. This is important, but I tested cleaned, see below.
I can't easily tell if there are any backdoors or other weaknesses in this thing, but guess I
can live with this for now.
** First the cons:
If you need a super highly configurable router with rich features, this is not for you.
Stick with ASUS or one of the others that is better suited.
Support is somewhat questionable, how do I do an RMA if needed? This is important.
I can live with this, but it's a weak point until proven otherwise.
The application is not terrible, but not great either, I can live with it.
There is no way to control or reset your network while you are outside of it. MeshForce
mentions remote control, but it's really just local control. Not what I'd call remote.
There is no control from a web page, not the app is the only control method.
The units seems very lightweight and cheap, but not an issue, they all have strong signal, sit
on the shelf without the ugly and bulky antennas sticking up. Will blend in to most any decor.
** Now the pros - there are alot of these:
Install was super easy, I was up and running on all units in 5-10 minutes. They just find each
other and do their job.
You can change the subnet, DNS, auto-restart times, port forwarding, and time limits, SSID name,
all the basics - and this will work for most people. It's flexible enough.
I switched to use OpenDNS and this was fine.
I get very fast speeds from my iPhone and iPad in the vast majority of the house and good speed
at the farthest reach and in the garage. Better than with the Linksys routers overall. Seamless
roaming, so I was happy. I did not have to manually change anything.
All devices connected without issue, they all show in the app.
I reused 1 of my SSIDs and everything just connected quickly. Since I changed the subnet,
I did have to reset a few devices to get them useable right away.
You can tell which device is connected to which unit/node, so you can optimize placement easily,
but you have to look per Wifi device to see what it is connected to, not per unit/node which a
be more useful.a
Roaming (and there is a setting for fast roaming, whatever that means) worked great, I do not
notice any lag or dropsouts, or weak signal anywhere. Using Speedtest and my iPhone, I got 200-300MBs
down and up in the vast majority of my house.
I tested the firewall for any obvious weaknesses using ShieldsUp! (grc.com). The only issue was that
external ping packets were responded to, but no open ports. You cannot change the "respond to ping" but I am
that is OK with that. It was otherwise clean.
Hope that helps, overall this is a great value and works well for me. So it should work
well for most others, even if no ethernet connections between units.
Installation was very simple. There are three apparently identical mesh units provided; all have connections for WAN and LAN. I connected one of the unit to my cable modem then placed one unit on the front side of the house and another on the back side of the house. Using the "Mesh" app, I set the SSID and password. From ten feet away from the the base unit I consistently got 300+ Mbps. The remote units consistently yielded above 200Mbps and often over 300Mbs.
Once installed, you can use the Mesh app to monitor the network. The Mesh app show the main screen with the three units (you can supply your own labels) displayed and the number of devices connected; (b) and (c) show the options in the app, and (d) shows the three units and the box the product comes in. The unit in the middle is rotated so you can see the three connections on the back (LAN, WAN, power, and a reset button).
Pros:
1. Good solid WiFi coverage throughout my house. Devices are pretty much plug-and-play after configuring the SSID and password.
2. These units are very small, about 4" high, 3.5" wide, and 3.5" deep, so they will fit almost anywhere. There are some holes on the bottom apparently for hanging the unit on a wall but I didn't try that.
3. The units are fairly stylish and won't stand out if you need to place them in a visible location. There is only one LED on the front of the unit which is not particularly bright and wouldn't keep you awake if you put a unit in your bedroom.
Cons:
1. Only one LAN jack on the base unit, so if you have a number of devices that are going to be hardwired (both of my desktops are wired in, and I have a SmartThings device plugged in as well) you will need an inexpensive network switch to accommodate the extra devices. Note, however, that each of the remote units also an ethernet connection, so you could use that if you connect devices without WiFi.
2. You are limited to WPA/WPA2 (TKIP) security; no WPA2 (AES) or WPA3 is available. Hopefully this will be fixed sometime in a firmware upgrade?
Summary:
Very good WiFi coverage is provided throughout the house. As mentioned earlier, the system is pretty much plug-and-play and will certainly app
eal to users who simply want a WiFi system that is easy to setup and works reliably.
All in all, this has been a good upgrade for my home.

Starting out with the installation process, it was very easy. All someone has to do is plug in the main node to you modem and connect to the wifi with the app. The app automatically connects to the internet and instructs you to set the wifi network setting. From there it auto connects the two additional nodes very quickly without any user input. As a novice in technology, this setup was fool proof, I think anyone would be able to set it up.
The performance of the system is great considering the way mesh technology works. You get excellent speed when connected to the main wifi router, however as you connect to the second/third you do lose some speed. However, this loss of speed is still better than how much you lose when you have only one router and very low signal strength. To combat this issue these devices support wired backhaul which allows you to connect the devices wired together. If you wire the nodes together you get back the full speed.
Overall this system is a well performing and easy to use system that is great for larger homes.

Well, almost. Regretfully, I am having to return the unit because of one feature: the parental controls. The M3 does allow you to turn individual devices WiFi on and off, and also set times of day when access is shut on and off. You can create groups of devices (e.g. one for your kids that turns of the WiFi at dinnertime and bedtime, while your own device stays on). So this is all good. However, what the parental controls do not do is any kind of content filtering. That means my kids would have access to the whole internet, including inappropriate sites and content. The only away around that, sort of, is to put parental control software on every device they use (a total pain to do, having done it before, and I don't know of any software that will do that on a smart TV/DVD player etc. that has access to a web browser). That is a deal breaker for me. I did contact their service department and I have nothing but high praise for them - extremely professional, helpful, and prompt. Really excellent service, and this is why I'm giving the M3 5 stars even though it doesn't meet my specific needs. I was told that they are working on an upgrade to the software to allow content filtering, but it's not ready yet. If you have teenage kids, you will have to use another method of content filtering if you use this unit in its present form. On the other hand, if you don't have kids or they are grown up, this unit is great.
Note: This company asks you to give them a 5 star rating on Amazon in return for free $10 Amazon gift card. I do not like this type of bribery, as it will skewer the reviews potentially falsely positive. In my case, I am giving them an honest 5 stars for the quality and service of the product, and I am not going to request a reward for doing so. I hope others will not be giving 5 stars for what is in essence a bribe. If this practice is widespread, user reviews will be unreliable and we will all be disadvantaged.
Easy to install though my internet speed became slower than it already has!
I have a 1Gbps internet which I get around 200+Mbps, after installing this, I got 30Mbps even less at times!
Dont buy,
Reviews are mixed with other types of Mesh wifi, so it made me think this model I purchased was really good! Amazon do better!
My two storey house is around 3000 SQFT, and I am using TELUS WIFI AP and a WIFI extender to cover a weak spot from my bedroom. With 6 family members, we have around 15 devices that will be using the network during night time, so it caused problems with network traffic and WIFI AP stabilities.
Internet is slow or halt sometimes from my bedroom spot while playing games on my smartphone, it is a big issue when I am playing PES 2020 online match with other online players, I lost my game automatically due to Internet connection quality. I started to search for a WIFI Mesh system for my home network upgrade and hope to solve this issue.
My fiber modem is located in the living room on the ground floor, the first mesh AP installation is easy and took me around 5 mins with APPs. Then, I installed another Mesh AP in my bedroom at the second floor and check the signal and speed testing, the WIFI signal is much better than the previous WIFI extender, however, the Internet bandwidth dropped to 150 Mbps from 300 Mbps
I started PES 2020 online match with other online opponents, and it was ok these days without the WIFI connection issue.
When I set up the first 2 units of WIFI mesh in the house, it's already covered the major area that I wanted. With the 3rd unit of Mesh AP, I am planning to use it as a portable AP at my back yard or garage. There are PRO and CON as following,
PRO
1. Quick and easy setup with APPs
2. Good WIFI signal
CON
1. Pricing is higher than other competitors
2. Internet speed is slower with 2nd WIFI mesh.
