EDIT: Been running this generator for 20 days now, 15 hours a day, with AC, PCs, appliances, TV, etc. I am getting about 10 hours per tankful of gas. Not bad. For this kind of use, check the oil level a couple times a week, and add a little when the dipstick shows low. It only holds a little over a quart of oil, so ONLY add a little oil, check the dipstick, and add more accordingly. It doesn't take much to suddenly overfill it. So far, this unit has been stellar. Hopefully, I will have my electricity line run soon. It IS tedious living off a generator.
I ran it on gasoline for a while, then switched over to propane no problem. I had trouble starting it with the pull start when the battery was dead. As far as I can tell it was impossible to start via pull start with a dead battery, which led me to believe that the battery is somehow required to produce spark to the engine...not sure. The battery is fairly easy to run down, if you accidentally leave the off/run/start rocker switch in the run position while the unit is not running it will run the batter down. This happened to me once while it was stored in the garage, which led me to discover that pull starting it was impossible (for me). Nicer units (e.g. Firman) will switch into "low power mode" if you leave the run switch on and the unit is not running, which I believe will protect from this happening.
Running on propane it struggled to restart (after being warmed up). Often times it required the starter button to be held for quite a while (up to 20 seconds or so), and the choke lever to be moved between choke and run repeatedly.
Ultimately it stopped producing electricity at about 120 hours of run time. The engine would start and run fine, but the run clock wouldn't light up and the plugs did not produce any power. I guess some kind of electrical fault occurred. Maybe this unit will do if you are in a pinch, but I would not count on it working long-term.
