Billionaire Jackson Spearman is impatient, demanding, and private. He’s practically a recluse. When his assistant goes on maternity leave, Amy Walker, virtual assistant extraordinaire, arrives to save the day.

Or does she?

Amy is inquisitive and far too optimistic. She isn’t impressed with Jackson at all.

Is she even real?

They can’t stand each other. Unfortunately, they can’t seem to resist each other, either. Soon, their work relationship starts to feel like something more....

Even when Amy meets her dream man, she can’t seem to stop thinking about her annoying online boss. And the woman who’s never fallen in love before, finds herself falling for two men.

Both of them have everything she’s ever wanted. But she has to choose one.

Can Jackson convince her that he can be everything that she needs? Or will her past come back to haunt them and ruin her chance at love?

Note: Contains a grumpy, workaholic tech CEO with a guarded heart and a virtual assistant whose skills border on diabolical. Also, two cats named Ramen and Sushi.

This is my new favorite romance!

This is my first book by Claudia Bergman, and I’m so glad that I started with this book. I could not put it down. I was was hooked right from the beginning. There were so many good things about it, humor, perfect quotes, a bit of suspense, and always the necessary tears. I started recommending it before I was halfway through listening to it.

The narrators did an excellent job. The duet narration was really special. I love when Grace Grant narrates romantic comedy, she does humor so well. She and Sebastian York make a perfect pair.

Many thanks for making my weekend extra enjoyable. I’m going to listen to it all over again, right now.

Maybe Later

I believe this is the third book of Claudia's I have read, and they have all been different but so much fun to read.

Jackson is a grumpy CEO whose assistant is going on maternity leave. In her place she hires Amy, a virtual assistant. I absolutely loved the emails and chats that the book begins with. We get to know both characters fairly well, and Amy is good at her job and hilarious when she refuses to put up with his attitude.

Their relationship from boss and employee to starts to change when Amy helps Jackson experience new things from music to art to food. All their exchanges have a good amount of humor and made me laugh a lot as I read. It was fun to see how their relationship developed as the story progessed.

I really enjoyed this take on the boss/employee trope and the narrators did an excellent job. They were easy to listen to and fit the characters and story perfectly.

A little You Got Mail

The first 6 or so chapters were nothing but their email correspondence and I loved it. You really do get a sense of their entire relationship just from those exchanges. Sebyo and Grace Grant are so good together I love listening to them.
Once we get past just the emails we learn more about them personally, what drives them, what haunts them, what they are scared of.
Then, it happens... the You Got Mail moment. And I loved it. I loved it all. Well done! Enjoyed this listen.

Fantastic book and narration

I loved this book. So fun, quirky, angsty and swoony.

Claudia is so creative with this virtual and hidden identity romance. Jackson and Amy are so good together…..even tho it takes them a bit to get there. The banter and snark is off the charts and leads to so many lol moments. There are some very sweet and tender moments once they both let their guard down.

Sebastian York and Grace Grant were phenomenal with the narration.

A Fabulously Unique & Amazing Story & Listen🎧

This romantic comedy is absolutely amazing, and I loved everything about it, from Claudia Burgoa’s wonderful writing style to the characters and storylines she created to the perfectly cast narrators who bring it all to life from the pages to your ears. I also loved the unique telling of the story with back-and-forth messages taking up a good portion of it, the dialogue is brilliant and the story captivated my attention the entire book. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to care about and even fall for. Jackson Spearman’s assistant is going on maternity leave, she knows her boss is hard to work for so she went with a virtual assistant as her replacement, yeah he made her find someone to cover for her while she was out. She also told her boss that she will not be taking work calls while on leave and if he fires his new assistant, it would leave him on his own until she returns, which is three months out. She hired Amy Walker, who specializes in dealing with hard bosses to work for and has a no nonsense approach with them. But her knowledge and ability to get things done and make things happen is her biggest asset, so is her quirkiness and sass and ability to read people. When faced with Jackson’s wrath, she gave as good as she got and he never stood a chance. Neither one was looking for a relationship nor did they see themselves getting caught up with each other like they did, but the intrigue and the chemistry between them were undeniable. I loved the added twists in the story, too. This wonderfully plotted romantic comedy has the perfect balance of drama, humor, heartfelt emotions and a slow but, oh so, worth the wait, romance. Claudia Burgoa, thank you for another fabulously entertaining story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Claudia Burgoa cast the perfect narrators to bring her characters and story to life. Sebastian York and Grace Grant are superbly talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit for their character’s persona and were believable in every role they played. Grace Grant played Amy’s role with perfection, grasped all sides of her personality. York did the same for Jackson, aced the grumpy side of him as well as his caring side. They set the perfect tone for the story, handled the snark and witty dialogue with ease, and landed the humor effortlessly. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their narration enhances an already wonderful story to another level. Thank you for another amazing listen.

this book needs to be a movie!

🅰🆄🅳🅸🅾🅱🅾🅾🅺 🆁🅴🆅🅸🅴🆆

Oh, I do love a romance that reminds me of my favorite romcom blockbusters! If you've read the blurb you know what this story is about so no need for me to paraphrase. When you read or listen to this book it's hard not to imagine Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks or Rachel McAdams and Matthew McConaughey playing the main roles!

Another 5 star, first in series romance by Claudia Burgoa.
Narrated by Sebastian York and Grace Grant who magically made this book come to life in my mind.
If it's possible to fall in love with a character because he's so grumpy and in desperate need of love, than I have fallen hard for Jackson Spearman.

Sebastian is the ultimate narrator for this type of character and he brings all the depth needed for this hero.
Grace has a classic voice that perfectly suits Amy /Emmeline. I loved how quirky and endearing she is and how impossible it was for Jacskon to not fall for her.

I'll be devouring the rest of this series on audio!

I fell hard for Jackson & Amy and so will you!

I absolutely loved this unique, and refreshing romance. I wasn't sure what to expect going in to this virtual rom-com. What I found was witty banter, an intriguing storyline, engaging characters, and hot sexual tension that leaped off the page. Amy is Jackson's new virtual assistant. She knows just how to handle the surly, demanding CEO. Jackson has never been challenged like this before, and they soon begin discussing more than their daily tasks. Outside of work, they have each started dating someone new. But the virtual connection is just as intoxicating for them both as the physical. Their daily text messages have allowed them to form a bond that no one else has with them. But their new relationships are just as inviting, and captivating, confusing them both. If you think you've read/listened to this story before, trust me, you haven't. This is a wonderful, witty, steamy story that will mesmerize you, and capture your heart.
I devoured this book when I read it, but listening to it made it a real treat. Sebastian York, and Grace Grant made these smart, witty, sexy, characters come to life so effortlessly, pulling me competely into their world. It never feels like they are reading or performing, they just are, and that is why I could listen again and again. I fell hard for these characters and so will you, I promise!

love the narrators, story only okay...

The story is brutally tense and the main character female is so anti relationship its hard to believe that she's able to let her walls down, finally, in the last 5 minutes of the book.

Meh

This story had a good premise, but my excitement for the story dwindled as it went on. It started good, but the FMC just made less and less sense as the story went on. She seemed rude at times instead of witty and then she seemed to just be looking for problems. Her issues near the end made it seem like she didn't have strong feelings for the MMC. I am not a fan of third act separations without good reason and her reasoning made no sense.
This story had great potential but the execution was disappointing. There are more frustrating scenes than entertaining ones. I also didn't feel the sexual chemistry between the characters. Their kisses were flat and the sex scene was basic.
2.75 stars.
