Four filter outputs and full stereo operation
Being a quad-core analog filter, the QPAS module offers four independent filter outputs — lowpass, bandpass, highpass, and the Make Noise Smile Pass. While the first three are self-explanatory, the unique Smile Pass filter morphs as you sweep the filter cutoff. Synthesists at Sweetwater love the Smile Pass filter’s consistent volume output across its cutoff range, allowing for complex, animated patches that won’t disappear into the mix. In addition, QPAS supports stereo operation — depending on how you patch it, QPAS can operate mono to mono, mono to stereo, stereo to mono, or stereo to stereo.
Create evocative stereo movement with dual Radiate controls
It’s challenging to describe in words how the Radiate controls work, but it’s easy to hear the stereo effects they can create. In short, each of this module’s four filter cores is dialed in to the same relative cutoff frequency — until you mess with the Radiate controls. Separated into left and right controls, each Radiate knob spreads two of the four filter peaks in relation to the cutoff frequency. You can even scale and invert each pair of peaks separately for even more complex patches. Whether you dial them in manually or modulate them with CV, the Radiate controls are the key to creating animated stereo patches with the QPAS module.
