Hi. welcome to my Author Central page. My name is Marrisse Whittaker. I have been creating characters for all of my working life. First, as a TV and Film Make-Up Artist and then as a TV scriptwriter, creating stories for popular UK drama TV series.

But plenty of drama takes place in real life too and when I joined forces with my husband, former TV journalist Bob Whittaker, to establish Orion TV, we produced a fascinating range of factual programmes for major broadcasters around the world.

I live by the sea in rural Northumberland in the UK, inventing dark and twisty plotlines for the detective Billie Wilde series, whilst wandering through the dramatic surf and turf landscape right on my doorstep. Many of my Billie Wilde stories are set in the area.

The Magpie, Book 1 in the Billie Wilde crime thriller series, was shortlisted for The Lindisfarne Prize for Outstanding Debut Crime Fiction. Book number five in the series will be published in July 2024. I hope you enjoy them!

This is one author to follow! I’ve had the good fortune to be able to read three books of her hand, and they were all so well written and have wonderful storylines. Hope she keeps the books coming! And please with Billie in them!

I enjoyed this suspenseful story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites yet. This is a well written story that is full of action and edge sitting twists and turns. I enjoyed bieng pulled into the story by the characters. They are creative, unique and connectable. I enjoyed watching their growth throughout the story. They made the story feel realistic and keep the story engaging. This is a story that dark secrets about a family and the feeling of looking at life through a looking glass. This is a fast paced story that kept me turning pages to the end. I enjoyed what the characters brought to the story and how the author's writing style made the story easy to read. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

This is the 3rd book in the Billie Wilde series. It took me a little longer to get into this book than the previous ones in the series but it was worth the wait. This is a fast paced, gritty, and thrilling story with main characters that continue to surprise me a bit. There is a twist at the end that I never saw coming. I voluntarily reviewed an advance readers copy of this book.

The third in a series of DSI Billie Wilde’s murder cases. Something for everyone; sex, drugs, murders, heartbreak, intrigue and suspects aplenty. Again, as with the first book ‘The Magpie’, I’d managed to work out some of it but was totally taken aback by the ending. I love it when a book surprises me and this one certainly did. If you are someone who manages to work out who the murderer is and how they did it in the tv series ‘Death in paradise’ then you might stand a chance of sussing this out.
Talking of tv dramas, this reads like one. I totally expect DSI Billie Wilde to turn up on my tv screen one day.
If you enjoy murder mysteries, then you’ll definitely enjoy this. For full enjoyment, you need to read the others first to get the background on the characters.
Get them bought. Enjoy 😊

Another excellent book from Marrisse Whittaker in the Billie Wilde series. This is the third book and is another great read. There are twist in the plot right up until the very unexpected end. There is an added interest running through the book detailing Lewis Carroll's links to the north East of England. A great read and highly recommended
