I bought this Chromebook to replace my old Chromebook, which was losing OS support in June. I looked for quite a while and finally settled on this one. So far, I am very pleased. The screen is bright and crisp, and the functions are quick and reliable. Although it actually looks slightly eschew, the keyboard works very well, especially compared with my old Chromebook, where the keyboard drove me crazy from day one. This one lacks a few of the gee-whiz bells and whistles that many customers look for, but I find it to be a solid, reliable workhorse for my purposes. I like that Chromebooks are constantly updating themselves, and how secure they are. On the other hand, they aren't nearly as versatile as Apple computers (I personally consider PCs to be worthless security risks), and I would only choose to use GoogleDocs as a last resort. I think I made a good choice.

I’ve had several chrome books and wanted a new one that was a higher mid range model. This one has great reviews. It is quick and does everything I need on a Chromebook. I have one complaint which is why I gave it four stars instead of five. I do not like the quality of the keyboard. The keys feel really loose and rattley when you tight. To me, having a great feeling keyboard is one of the keys to a good experience with a computer. This may not be an issue for you though. Had I known this I would’ve gotten a different Chromebook.

Can't review the brand new product as it is being repaired for weeks...

I wish I could review actual product. I received the chromebook on November 17, 2021. I used it a few times and it never left my kitchen table. On November 21, 2021, it stopped working. The screen went black and it would not charge or start up.

I contacted customer support and was walked through several attempts to reboot the computer. Acer sent me a prepaid FedEx label to send the device back. It took almost a week to ship via FedEx. The company is now currently "repairing" the device and they "aim to repair it within 10 business days". I guess I have to figure another week for shipping so maybe I will get it before Christmas, if all goes well.

So I have paid in full for a brand new computer that will be returned to me REPAIRED (best case scenario); I had to buy boxing and packing materials because they will not return the original box (which it fit perfectly in and contains all of the computer information). I was instructed to wrap it in 3-5 inches of bubble wrap or it would not be accepted. Worst of all I will be weeks without a personal chromebook that I have paid for. And after paying for a brand new computer, it will come back to me repaired.

Very disappointed. Will not purchase from Acer again.

Update: my chromebook was returned on December 10. Today, December 18 it again stopped working after being glitchy and freezing for a couple of days. I contacted customer support with my case number and was told that they would initiate another repair. I asked to speak to a manager because I did not want a second repair to this chromebook. I have to wait until 8:30-4:30 CST on Monday to initiate a conversation. Unreal.

Bought it for one of my kids and they used it for school. Only last 18 months before it would no longer boot with an error that the OS was missing or damaged. Attempted a restore of the OS using Chrome's directions but attempts all attempts at making a restore drive (USB and microSD) failed with either no device taking the restore media or with the chromebook not recognizing there was restore media on the drive. Sent it off for warranty work and Asurion just reported to me that they are unable to repair it and issued me an Amazon gift card for a replacement. I did read some reports that claimed there is a known issue with the hard drives on these lasting two years or less. Absolute junk. If Acer knows the hard drives are bad then why sell their products with them in them. Will look at brands other than Acer going forward.

We loved this computer right up until the day the screen went blank and would not come up (9 months post-purchase). Computer is on and running, but screen is black. We tried all the tricks: Hard reboot. Power on, Power off. Hold Power and recycle button for 30 sec. Hold power, recycle, and esc button. Nothing. Took to Geek Squad. They said the screen does not come up when attaching the laptop to a monitor. This is an operating system problem. It cannot reboot. Said to call Acer and get a replacement since it is under warranty. Acer walked me through all the same things to try. Then said I have to pay to ship it to them for repair, but repair is free unless there is damage to computer. (There is none.) I asked what happens if they cannot repair it. Do I get a new computer? They said, they will be able to repair it. We shall see. And..... now I know why I always buy Macs.
