too much telling of unnecessary shit + not enough showing of crucial relationship development = one bored gal.

this felt like a Mariana Zapata book... but boring. i originally had a lot to say about this bcos while the beginning was boring and mediocre, i could see the potential this had to be amazing... but it was still pretty mediocre. there was nothing inherently bad about this... it’s just pretty forgettable.

if you’re gonna go down the route of an emotional slowburn, gotta deliver on the “burn” part. i want the intensity, the longing, the angst, the pining, the fire... if you’re gonna make it slow, you gotta make it worthwhile. and this just wasn’t, unfortunately :///

it really had the bones of a lovely romance since Stevie had a lot of depth while Fletcher was cute and endearing... but it was just missing that spark that i craved to fully immerse myself in this. it had its enjoyable moments... but i was disappointed by this. adding Fletcher’s POV really would have elevated this book bcos i was constantly feeling like a huge chunk of this book was missing, especially with the lack of relationship development.

in the end, i couldn’t have been as indifferent and resigned if i tried.

new goal in life: get myself a DILF!!

"And trust me Stevie. If you give me a chance, I'll make sure your body, your mind, and everything in between is handled right."

Tropes: slowburn, age gap, single dad trope, teacher x student's parent, neighbors to lovers.

Stevie Foster is navigating divorce, and only now is she leaving that failed relationship in the past and finding her footing again. The last thing she needs is to develop a crush on her new neighbor, who also happens to be the father of one of her students... and her ex-husband's lieutenant colonel. But when this silent man begins to do things for her out of the goodness of his heart, showing caring but also giving her the space that she so badly needs, she's doomed. Not falling for Fletcher Miller was never an option.

This is my first book by B. Celeste, and more than the story itself, I was completely hooked on the way she described Stevie's journey and feelings. The romance was AMAZING. It was a slowburn so the tension and chemistry between these characters was obvious and excruciating, but Fletcher knew where Stevie was coming from, so he did everything to make this relationship progress at the rate she needed it to be, never pushing for more, but always being there for her and making his intentions clear.

And then there's all the character development that the author made in Stevie, and it was all the change that I was hoping to see in her! When the book begins, Stevie is still unsure about her future, not finding herself without the person she believed to be the love of her life. But then she starts doing things for herself; finding a job that she always wanted, a new house that she could decorate as she pleased, new friends who appreciated her for who she was, etc. Finding her true self made her more confident about what she wanted for her life, and how their next relationship had to be, never letting her be treated again like her ex-husband did. And the fact that Fletcher was the complete opposite of him made everything easier and clearer for Stevie, that's why when her ex appeared again in her life, she didn't hesitate to forgive him, but there was no longer room for people like him in her life.

“Do you believe in love at first sight?”

He remains quiet for a long stretch of time. The only sounds that fill the room are our steady breathing and the refrigerator running on the other side of the wall. When he does answer, it makes the organ in my chest squeeze. “I want to tell you yes and make a big statement about the first time I ever met you, but I’d be lying. You were on another man’s arm. His wife. And no matter the natural beauty you have, then and now, the way you’ve always carried yourself, always smiled at everybody no matter who they were, and brought light into those people’s lives, I was never going to look at you beyond that. Not when you were with him. Not when I had no right to.”
My heart pounds so hard I can feel it thumping in my ears.

He finishes me off with two sentences. “If love at first sight existed, there is no doubt I would have fallen deeply in it with you. No matter how wrong.”

I've been reading some heavy books during my summer holiday. I just craved emotional stories with real feelings and real people.

And this book, my very first B. Celeste and certainly not my last, is the perfect example.

32 year old Stevie navigates the world of divorce after being married for 9 years to her high school sweetheart.
For the first time in her life, she is on a journey of self discovery and healing after coming out of a relationship that defined half her life. She slowly but surely learns to stand on her own two feet, gain confidence, love herself, go after her goals, make choices and get control of her life.

Redefining oneself after a long relationship is hard, so very hard. And the road to healing is paved with mistakes and sorrow. Stevie's struggle is very relatable, raw and emotional.

40 something Fletcher is her ex-husband's former C.O. and an amazing guy all around. They are neighbours and Stevie is his autistic son's 5th grade teacher. To be honest, Fletcher seemed out of this world to me. He was so patient, so understanding and so empathic towards Stevie's struggles. He really saw her helped her and truly loved her. He is my kind of book boyfriend, the kind that shows his love through actions not just words.

The romance between Stevie and Fletcher is really slow building. Maybe some will consider it too slow. But not me. Because that's what made it real and relatable to me. Fletcher was not meant to be the rebound but the forever.

This book touches on a lot of hard topics: divorce, autism, military life, war.
I enjoyed a lot the writing style, the amazing characters and the realistic storyline.

If you're in search of more profound romances, with female characters that make mistakes but ultimately become strong and confident, then I highly recommend this book to you!

Make You Miss Me is a slow burn forbidden romance that takes you on a woman's journey of self discovery, love, independence and finding happiness in her own way again.

It's been a little over two years since Stevie was served with divorce papers and she's still trying to pick up the pieces and get her life in order. Buying a house and getting back to a job that she loves was her first step in reclaiming her independence and she's more than content with the life that she's building. When a new student arrives in her classroom Stevie knows that she's going to have a special bond with the little boy who the world sees as different and his father is going to be hard to ignore.

I really liked how we saw the evolution of Stevie. She started off as a woman who was lost, hurt and she didn't know how she was ever going to move on. She later grew into this person with a bit more confidence and finding out what worked for her and slowly progressed to a woman who became braver, self assured and knew her worth.

extremely slow burn romance but for some reason that didn't bother me too much. I did wish that certain things would've sped up quickly and not drag on but the real issue I had was the single pov from Stevie. I desperately wanted to read Fletcher's pov for certain things and I needed to know how he felt. Aside from that and the fact that I think Stevie and Fletcher needed to spend more time together as a couple, I think this story is worth a try.

Make You Miss Me é um livro de segundas chances, redescobertas e superações. Um livro com personagens maduros e que nos faz sentir cada aflição e alegria dos personagens.

3.5 stars! I liked this one it was okay but I felt it had too much info about other people in the book instead of the main couple like the neighbor, friends, parents that was very unnecessary and just bored me. The heroine also mentioned her ex husband way too much it was annoying, I really wish this had more about the main couple and the hero’s son I loved him he was the best part of the story.

this was everything I didn’t know I needed. Think wait for it by Mariana Zapata combined with some B.Celeste magic. God this was painfully good. I wanted so much more of this book and this couple. Nothing beats a book that talks emotions, healing and a hot single dad that rocks your world.

This was personal in a way because I felt for Stevie. I felt her struggle with her heartbreaks and how come she hasn’t healed yet? But then Fletcher, sexy single dad Fletcher comes along…and it’s just undeniable.

B.Celeste is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up owning every single book by her.

It was so perfect slow burn. I loved Stevie Foster character. She got divorced and start a new life and moving on. It is very difficult for her because she got married to her high school sweetheart and love him unconditionally. She taught me to love myself first and give life or love a second chance. Age is just a number to start a career. You just have to believe in yourself. You are never old to find love in yourself first.

Lieutenant Colonel Fletcher Miller. He is also a divorcee and a single dad and he is the man who was once in charge of Stevie's ex-husband’s unit. Stevie is also a teacher of Fletcher's son, Dominic. Fletcher and Stevie are neighbours. His character was calm and collective. His caring nature and the nickname he gives to Stevie is love. He is the best man a woman can ask for. He was sunshine for Stevie. The way he motivates Stevie is just what she needed in her life. He is the light of her dark.

I enjoy reading this book. B. Celeste is one of my favourite author. I have read almost all of her books. Her writing gives me chills. I can easily connect with her characters.

Go and preorder this book right now.❤ It's releasing on 2nd September.❤🤭

A must-read recommendation from my side.❤😍✨🌹

I Couldn’t put it down!

How great is it to find a new to me author and have my first experience with her work involve a story that I didn't want to end. I absolutely loved Stevie and Fletcher's story!

Stevie is recently divorced and after being with her husband for so long she finds herself a little off kilter so starting a new life without him is a little daunting but it's something she needs to do. She has moved to a new town, purchases a home and is starting to teach at the elementary school. The last thing that ever crossed her mind was that she would know one of her neighbors and have his son in her class.

Lieutenant Colonel Fletcher Miller is a dedicated single father who would do anything for his son. Dominic stole each page he was on, I loved this little boy and he straight shooter way of saying things no sugar coating things for him.

The chemistry between Fletcher and Stevie was amazing, this was a slow burn but once things heated up they got HOT!

I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys Contemporary Romances, Single Dad Romances, Second Chance Romances, or just good Steamy Reads.

Happy Reading!!!

I enjoyed watching the growth of the h as she was rediscovering herself after being married to her ex since she was 19 and with him for a few years more than that. She is now 32 and 3 years have passed since being served divorce papers and being told that he’d fallen out of love with her years prior.

The h has moved in across the street from her ex’s ex CO. He is 10 years her senior and is divorced with a son who ends up in the h’s class.

Their relationship is a slow burn one but it fit in with her still grieving the loss of her ex. She eventually recognises how unhealthy her relationship with her ex had been (she had sacrificed everything for him-career, putting off having kids, social life).

The ex reaches out several times in the book and she ignores. He comes and visits but her newly strengthens backbone shuts him down and sends him on his way.

I don’t like the reveal but understand it was an addition by the author purely so that the H and h could have some drama but also so that the H could demonstrate altruism. I also found the ending a little rushed.

Otherwise, this was a sweet read for lovers of slow burns.

SINGLE POV (heroine’s), first person.
Spice: low.
Slow burn: 100%. Neighbors to lovers.
Pages? I don’t know how many, it didn’t show.
Age gap? Yes. 10 years.

How can you not fall for: a 42 yo 6”4 hero, an ex military and now retired to take care of his autistic son?
I was already deep. 🥵

And Stevie? Such a strong heroine! THANK GOD! No, thank YOU, B! 🖤 Stevie handling her ex husband? I almost had to up and leave to make some popcorn because of her show. I was “buuuurn” the whole time. Yeahhh, girl, tell himmm!!! His fucking loss. “I’m gonna make you miss me” indeed.

I’m giving 5 stars out of FIVE, because it was that good! I tried savoring it, going slow with my reading, but yeah… no. Didn’t work.
B, once again, delivers an incredible well written story. I wouldn’t consider it angsty. It’s actually a light one, I would def read this if I was in need of a break from heavy books, you know? The ones who drain your soul. And Make You Miss Me was such a realistic, relatable and healthy story! The kind of book you keep thinking about when you finish it because of its message.

Boy, do I love a slow burn… Look, I loooove my smut, but when the book builds this kind of anticipation… gaaaah, you guys, I can’t even explain it when the MCs finally…. HUGGED!!! I was dancing around my room with my Kindle.
I didn’t even care in which %.
I was so giddy. And smiling and so happy for them. Hell fucking yeah!

I have a thing for single dads. It’s so hot when they’re adorable with their child. My heart melts. And Dominic being autistic? 🥺 I loved how Fletcher didn’t mind one bit nor treated him differently, constantly saying he’s a normal kid. Because he is. I’d say, tho, he’s even more special and too good for us 🖤 I love how blunt autistic people are, they mean no harm, they’re innocent. And Nicki is such a good kid. Can we talk about the coparenting? THANK YOU FOR THIS, B! I’m so tired of reading books where the other women are all MEAN, annoying and lusting after the hero. UGH! It was such a nice change. Reading the other woman, the MOM, being a mature ADULT and having this amazing relationship with her ex husband and son. YESSSS!!!

Hunter didn’t bother me THAT much until the end. Motherfuccccccccckkkkkkkerrrrrrr. Piece of isjfkdkd. If you know, you know. Or soon you will.
I do love reading a man grovel, however… his groveling was not even ok. Jerk.

And hey, I’m so happy I read the acknowledgments. I’m proud of you, girl. 🖤 Never settle for less. You will never be hard to love. You’re worth it.

There is nothing like being caught up in the feels from a VERY emotional book and still sobbing over it after it ended at 3 am. This book is it for me.

For me, this was far more than just a Love story but a woman finding herself after losing her own identity. Loving someone takes more than just your heart, it's takes courage to handover yourself to someone not knowing if the outcome will be a heartbreak or happily ever after.

Some books give you Fantasy for love and some slaps you with the hard reality. But also shows us that there is hope, a chance at love for everyone.

32 year old Stevie has been divorced for 2 years now but the aftermath of heartbreak is still as intense for her as ever. A school teacher just surviving in the name of living. Then comes, Fletcher, her ex husband's former C.O. He is just something else...I don't believe a guy can be this good but nothing is stopping me for wishing for this. He is everything a woman searches for in a man...a perfect book boyfriend material for me.

Definitely worth rereading again and again...

This was so good!! I picked this up on a whim after seeing it rec’d by amanda @ gingersnapreads and omg, i basically binged it on my drive to my apartment yesterday, which never happens with audiobooks.

This has two of my top tropes aka grumpy/sunshine and single dad. Pair that with an ex-military commander, a cute dog and a woman trying to come to terms with her divorce, i loveeed it. It was a bit of a slow burn but the book is pretty short so it worked so well for me.

Fletcher was the sweetest bean who I just want to HUG i loved him so much 🥺

“If you give me a chance, I’ll make sure your body, your mind, and everything in between is handled right.”

Oh my military wife heart! MAKE YOU MISS ME is a powerful and passionate friends-to-lovers romance that brings the feels. The perfect blend of romantic and real that touches everywhere while sweeping you away.

Told through a strong and stunning teacher who is rebuilding her life, and featuring an all alpha, former soldier hero, Make You Miss Me delves into the value of life and love, and what one will sacrifice for it all. You’ll fall hard in love with this hero and heroine. You’ll ache for these soulmates, needing them to pick up each other’s broken parts and make them whole.

It felt intimate as if I were transported into this heroine’s diary, hearing and feeling her innermost thoughts. I was in awe of the teacher heroine who embodies beauty inside and out, female power and kindness. Every child needs a Stevie. Fletcher is a military man to a tee: intense, admirable, courageous, protective, and oh so handsome … the definition of hero and a woman’s dream.

Make You Miss Me is a moving and meaningful masterpiece bursting with love and strength that speaks to the soul while hugging the heart. I ADORED this romance of friends, fate, fierceness and all the feels with a meaningful message of rising after falling that speaks to us all. A slow-burning love story that simply shines.

I’m so torn about how to review this one - I’ve read books by B Celeste before and they’ve been slightly hit or miss for me. I was really excited by the premise of the story and high hopes for it, but in some places it fell a little flat.
There was a slight age-gap between the main characters, but because Stevie was in her 30’s it didn’t feel all that taboo (the age difference was 10 years)
I absolutely loved Fletcher and swooned hard over him. He was grumpy, protective, respectful and sinfully sexy, yet at times I felt like Stevie wasn’t deserving of him. He was so patient with her but she continued to push him away, even after she realised how she felt about him.
I think my biggest issue with the story was that it felt ever so slightly rushed and there was a lot of telling, rather than showing, particularly towards the end when the conflict seemed to resolved itself rather quickly and then the story just ended. I could’ve been doing with another couple of chapters before we had the epilogue.
Overall, I genuinely did like the story, and I think Fletcher is one of my new book hero crushes, but I just would’ve like a little bit more, I guess.

3.5 star rating

I went back and forth on how to rate this one; 3 or 4 stars, and settled on 3.5 stars. It just seemed too short I guess is why I was having a hard time. I really wasn’t the biggest fan of either main character either. But, I did like their love story. If that makes any sense. Stevie comes across as somewhat of a goodie goodie, but drinks and swears. And, Fletcher who was a caring and patient dad to his autistic son, was attracted to Stevie way too quickly I thought. He was the quiet and intense former military officer. They just didn’t seem like a good fit to me. But, given the fact that Stevie’s ex was an ass, one can only improve from there. All in all it was a good love story. I just felt that it needed more….

I love me some b celeste <333 Fletcher and Stevie were so cute together, I really liked the couple they made. I do think tho that their relationship was a bit rushed, she was holding on to her past and in the next chapter they basically loved each other. I also didn’t like the last chapters, how the way about why they broke up was stupid and how they got back together like nothing happened. And the baby pregnancy was so random, but I liked it. But…overall this was a fun book.
The epilogue and Nicki were the best of all💛

Make You Miss Me is an intriguing story with characters that have flaws yet feel perfect together.

B. Celeste never fails in writing a story that makes you feel for the characters and the emotions they go through. I absolutely loved the way Stevie’s character was written. She’s so strong even in the moments that make her feel weak but she’s way more than that. She’s everything I love in a character. The moments she had with Fletcher were my absolute favorite for the way he made her feel. His character actually surprised me. He’s always so considerate of Stevie’s feelings and her point of view of it all, something she didn’t really have in her past. Although Stevie’s past is something that has affected her in the present, the way she eventually grows individually was something that I really liked in the story.

All in all this book was such a great read. It brought all the emotions!! Stevie and Fletcher’s story actually taught me a lot if i’m being honest. Being able to love yourself first is something that’s so important and I think we can all learn from that😊

OUT NOW!!!!

"The truth is...
You'll never meet the right person until you fully let go of the wrong one."

This was a very beautiful story full of self-discovery and second chances...
It is about to move on from things that you used to know and things that were pulling you under without even realizing it...
It was about grab life from its horns and make her your bitch...
And let yourself love somebody else, but not before you start loving yourself more!!!
I enjoyed Stevie's journey to a second chance and Fletcher was the ideal partner for this difficult journey!!!

"Whatever is holding you back won't be forever."

Stevie's marriage had fallen apart two years ago, but she is still struggling with the aftermath... She is at a point that she is starting a new life away from the one that she used to have...
A new house in a new neighborhood, a new teaching job in a new town and this is only the beginning... And even though it is very hard to let go of her past, she is still trying even though not always successfully!!!
What she is not expecting is a familiar face to live across the street!!!! A face that it reminds her of what she had lost, and even though she is avoiding him like the plague, his son is becoming her student!!!

"When you grow up believing that true love exists, you don't think about the possibility of it being the very thing that destroys you- the thing that leaves you vulnerable."

Honestly, I don't want to tell you more about this story...
It was a beautiful story... A slow romance... A little bit more slower than my taste, but honestly, it didn't bother me that much!!!
I liked Stevie, even though she was pinning after Hunter too much in the beginning and I hated the pull he still had over her, because honestly, he didn't deserve her attention... But her journey to happiness, even though long, it was liberating and wonderful to witness...

"There's no timeline for getting over somebody. Because if you rush it, then you won't find the right person who's still out there waiting for you."

And there was Fletcher Millers, Stevie's ex-husband's commanding officer... A man of few words, but with grand gestures!!!!
I loved Fletcher so much and I won't hide to you that I was missing his POV. I was craving it like an addict!!! This man was ideal in a degree and the patience that showed toward Stevie made him even more appealing....
Along with Dominic and Admiral, there were a dream team that had the ability to pull Stevie out of her funk!!!

"I like you, Stevie. I respect you. And I'll wait until you're ready because I have nowhere else to be. I'm in no rush."

This is totaly a book that you should try!!!
It was a beautiful second chance, slow burn romance with amazing characters that will follow you around for a while!!!!
Just try it!!!

"Do you believe in love at first sight?"...
"If love at first sight existed, there is no doubt I would have fallen deeply in it with you. No matter how wrong."

i didn’t feel an ounce of sympathy towards the heroine because she spent half of the book pining for a guy who wasn’t the hero. i know this was a plot to show her growth and healing process, but it just annoyed me :/

I loved this book! I completely and utterly with my whole heart loved this book. I wish I had the right words, the perfect words, but mine would pale in comparison to the words that make up this exceptional book. I had no idea of the magnitude this story would have on me, it impacted me in way I never thought possible. I honestly can’t explain it, but it’s a feeling I only get when reading a poem that really speaks to me and pierces my soul and no matter how much time passes when I read it again and again and again I’ll still feel the exact same way I did the first time I read it.

Stevie stole my heart. Gosh I loved her so much. The life she knew is falling apart and the only man she’s ever loved obliterated her heart. Everything that made sense now doesn’t and she has to put herself back together as best she can. The journey we go on with Stevie has its ups and downs and it’s an emotional one, but through it all it was much needed in order for Stevie to finally set herself free from the past. She’s trying her damndest to move on and rebuild her life and make it better than before. I loved her determination and more than anything her strength. She pushed through and it took much needed time to get her to a place where she was content and above all else, happy.

Where can I find myself a Fletcher? Dear lord above I was a mess over this man. Right off the bat I already loved him with the whole being a single dad which just gets me every single time. Not only was he an amazing father to Dominic but he was a *chef’s kiss* of a man. He’s considerate and caring and just all around an amazing person. Just like Stevie I loved him so much.

Stevie and Fletcher were kismet. I felt their connection radiating off the pages. The slowness of their coming together was perfection. Stevie took her time and didn’t rush anything and Fletcher was so patient and understanding and let Stevie go at her own pace and dictate how things went and it was everything. And when Stevie was ready and took that leap it was amazing and she and Fletcher were beautiful.

Make You Miss Me was an incredible slow burn romance packed with all the feels. This single dad and divorcée story brought the emotions and then some. Stevie and Fletcher will make you believe that there’s such a thing at a second chance at love. A beautiful and remarkable story that will stay with me for a long time.
