This is an improvement over gels. It is somewhere between applesauce and apple juice in consistency. This means you drink it and it doesn't require a follow on drink of water to make it go down - or to get rid of "that" taste you have left over.

I give it all 5 stars since I have not tried this yet as I frequently see this brand from watching the grand bike tour races on TV as well as endorsed by GCN. I do long solo rides and have tried other brands which worked for me where I don't bonk near the end of my ride. I am looking forward to try this when doing a long ride on my smart trainer. It is unfortunate that this brand is not available from the local sports/bike shops in Ottawa, Ontario thus, Amazon became a channel for me. I am now ready for the long road ahead when warmer weather sets in.

SIS consistently makes the worst flavored supplements. I'd suggest trying their Turbo+ powder for a retching experience, but it looks like it's been mercifully pulled from the market.
That said, the consistency of their gels is great! Very easy to get the whole packet down in a couple of slurps and no need to immediately chase with water. The tradeoff (besides the taste), is the bulkiness: 3 or 4 will fill a jersey pocket.
I wish other gel makers would add more water to make a similar consistency as SIS, or I wish SIS would up their flavor game.
