Publisher's summary

Nellie Rivera is trading traffic for tranquility. When the quiet streets of small-town Montana beckon, she leaves Denver behind and moves to Calamity. It would be the perfect adventure if not for Cal Stark.

When her archnemesis dares to show his face one Saturday morning, declaring he is moving there too, she vows to make his life a misery. The town isn’t big enough for the both of them and besides...

She was here first.

Cal has been a thorn in her side since high school. He might have bullied her back then, but she’s not a modest teenager anymore and has learned a few plays of her own. If all goes to plan, she’ll run the former pro quarterback out of town within a month.

There’s only one problem. Cal has the same plan. He wants Calamity bad enough to pull out all the stops. And after one kiss, she realizes that he doesn’t play fair.

Love it but …

Her voice is not at all what I expected. Just didn’t mesh well with the story!

only ok

The female narrator isn't a good fit for the character. Nelly is supposed to be in her early 30's but the narrator sounds like she's 45+

Enemies to lovers in a small town setting

The Bully is the fourth book in the Calamity Montana series and this one is an enemies to lovers romance!

Cal has been a thorn in Nellie’s life since he bullied her in high school, and now both have moved to Calamity. After retiring from the NFL, Cal decides to finally take up his best friend Pierce’s (hero of the previous book, The Brazen) idea to move to Calamity. Nellie works for Pierce so she lives in Calamity as well. Nellie is convinced Calamity is only big enough for one of them and it isn’t Cal…

This was my least fav in the series so far. I just didn’t care for Cal or Nellie. We do get flashbacks through Nellie’s diary, that Cal is reading in current day. I just felt meh about their past and their present day interactions as well.

Narrator Male 5 Female 2 stars

I found the female narrator's voice whiny, high and irritating. Then the storyline had the two characters bickering all the time and not in a fun way. Disappointing but do recommend this author generally.

Just ok.

I love the calamity series but this is my least favorite so far. But I’m not a big fan of the enemies to lovers genre. I really liked Cal’s voice and his nice tone made up for the whispers of Nellie’s voice.

Fabulous!

Connor Crais is awesome and he is one of my favorite narrators! The female voice was not what I was expecting. She was kind of whispering. It didn't affect me finishing the story and I love this series and am totally invested!I loved the dynamic between the two main characters. I really enjoyed this story and I can't wait to continue in the series. I don't love a misunderstanding troupe but it works for this book.

Fabulous

Willa Nash (Devney Perry) does it again with this next story in her Calamity series. She brings gritty, believable teenage angst to life as her characters grapple with the resulting dynamics much later in their lives. She takes a character who should be hard to love, and makes them all the more lovable in the end. This author is easily one of my all-time faves. Can’t wait to see what she writes next!

Trauma has a way...

There were a lot of negative about Nellie, in previous reviews. I can kind of understand, but thinking about it, trauma in high school has a lasting impression on a person. So I get why Nellie is the way she was written. Trauma is a thing and bullying is no joke. As an adult she has run ins with him, as adults, and essentially brought back those hurt feelings, it has a. way of staying with you even as an adult.

I think both Characters clearly had a lot of miss communication, and let their past experiences drive themselves. but just as Nellie said they have a push pull. and after listening to the book I have a full on understanding, and can appreciate both Characters. I enjoyed the book! a lot. It was not may favorite out of the three so far, but it doesn't mean I will not revisit the story and series. 😊

As far as narrators go. Connor Crais is awesome! I really enjoy his narrations. Cindy Kay is new to me. I was not a huge fan, but she didn't make me stop listening either. I got used to her narration, but I noticed when she did a dialex between her and another character it felt like they were always huddled up and telling secrets. She whispered a lot and that threw me, but it was not terrible by any means.

LOVE Devney Perry, but not this female narrator

For the 1st time a Devney Perry book has a narrator I don't care for. The male narrator was very good. The female narrator was disappointing. Her variations for different characters were either a whisper or talking WAY too fast. In my opinion shes not a good choice.
