The preamps in the Mooer PreAMP Live are quite good...I'm not gonna give up my tube amps - but that's not what this unit is for. The settings are quite tweakable and the use of the app for iPhone (which I have) or Android is super easy and intuitive to use. The effects loop is a major point for me as I like to run my reverb, delay, tremolo and other time/modulation effects through it and it works like you would expect.
The boost function is outstanding and is easily switchable from post to pre. Setting up preamp order is easy and this unit plays nicely with my pedal board. BTW...it also works and sounds great in front of an amp thanks to being able to turn off the speaker simulation with a toggle switch.
The built in Impulse Responses are really good with the unit having the ability to load in third party IRs such as Celestion, Ownhammer, etc...
I've used the Mooer PreAMP Live several times now for direct in live gigs using in ear monitors and it works flawlessly...now I can grab my pedalboard and my guitar and I'm good to go with just plugging in a mic cable for the PA and my guitar cable.
This also makes a killer backup to have in your gig bag or on your pedalboard for those times when your precious tube amp quits - it happens to all of us sooner or later.
I highly recommend the Mooer PreAMP Live!

I highly recommend the Mooer PreAMP Live!
The amp models lean toward high gain amps. Even the clean channels are mostly from high gain amps. There's also some amp choices that are a little odd. Instead of a tweed bassman or bf twin, they include a blues deluxe. Also, instead of a plexi or JCM 800, they model the JCM 900 - not exactly the most popular series. Fortunately there's some decent models of other similar amp and there is room for Mooer to add more in the future.
The thing that makes the preamp really good sounding are the IRs. I found the sound of the stock IRs to be very good. My only issue is that some of the 4x12 models have an overhyped low end. I got aound this by loading an IR from Celestion. The ability to load your on IRs is extremely valuable.
Using the software to edit is a breeze and the best way to get going. There are enough parameters to get your sounds without a lot of unnecessary features. The product features are well thought out and make using the Preamp Live no harder than most modern amps.
So if your looking for something to use for home recording or for an ampless situation like some church settings, this might be just what you need. You can create pedalboard with this and your favorite pedals and go direct and have a very nice solution.
