Product Description
The NTK Cherokee Series is part of our GT line of camping tents. The CHEROKEE tent was designed thinking in those campers who look for simplicity and a dry and ventilated experience. It has a unique wide door with a full layer of fabric and another full layer of micro-mesh screen to keep those fierce flying attackers outside. The door is protected from vertical rain by an extension on the rain fly and zip covers.
It basically uses 2 poles to build the inner tent and a small pole to extend the awning on the door and back area.
NTK GT series are durable, waterproof, and easy to set up tents for camping in winter or summer season. E-Port for convenient electrical cord access.
Available in 4 sizes 3/4, 4/5, 5/6 and 8/9 people.
The 8/9 Person version comes with a detachable room divider for extra convenience and privacy.
Dome tent design with protected door
The shape itself helps run off the drops of rain, but the coating on the material is most important. The door is a tough area to keep protected from rain because we want you to be able to get in and out of the tent. So, we designed and extended the rainfly to avoid vertical rain drops.

We've had this tent for 2 1/2 years and taken it camping probably 15-20 times. It's been all over the desert of NM, the mountains of Colorado, and the red rocks of Utah.
This tent is AWESOME.
PROS:
- Dome design doesn't require stakes in the ground - we have a lot of rocks up in the mountains.
- Dome design is super simple and quick to put up - usually about 2 minutes for us if we're taking our time.
- Walled sides - with the tub shape, water never gets in.
- It's HUGE. We usually put a full size air mattress AND two twin size mattresses in it PLUS there's about enough room for another twin mattress as well. We could probably fit two queen mattresses in there.
- It's TALL - my wife and I are both 6ft tall and can stand up in the middle very easily, not the "standing up but hunched over kind of" actually standing upright.
- The BAG IS AWESOME - hate trying to get a tent back into it's bag? This is the tent for you! Fold it into quarters, roll it up around the poles, throw it in, and because the bag is a little bigger than you need, it fits easily. (No, it's not loose and baggy, just right). We've had nights of "quick, just shove it in the bag" and it fits fine that way too. Easy to put away.
- HUGE POLES - you won't believe it till you see it, these poles are about as big around as a finger, not the little wimpy poles.
- BIG VENTS AND GIANT RAIN FLY - The vents on the sides are basically everything from the tub up to the top, so lots of ventilation. The Rain fly easily covers the mesh though and we've never had rain get in at all.
- No stakes necessary - we never use stakes, and the fly doesn't go anywhere and the tent stays put. We've shoved gear in the corners or occasionally a big rock, and done really well with this.
CONS:
- We had one of the bungee strings break in the poles, but that's to be expected after some use. It was easy enough to fix. The overall design is sturdy enough we used it a few times with no bungee at all and it was ok.
- Cooler weather - it has huge vents on the sides under the fly, so heat gets out when it's cold. But, we've also shoved a blanket or one of those two person hammocks between the tent and the fly and that helps keep the heat in a little better. Let's just say, it's probably not any colder than most other tents like this.
- Size. It is big, and if you need space to sprawl it's there. But if it's a cramped area because of trees, it is pretty big. If you're out west, and there's lots of room, this is a great tent.
CONCLUSION:
I've owned a 6-8 different tents, most of them dome tents, and this one is the toughest built, the most well-thought out, and the easiest to work with. I'd definitely buy this tent again.
(and if you have the space in your vehicle, throw some of those foam puzzle floor pieces in the tent and it makes it really, really posh)
(No, I didn't get this tent for free or anything, bought it outright).

Since only a dune separated our tent from the ocean, it was pretty breezy. The winds were around 11 to 15 mph with gusts, I would guess, of around 20 mph. We were awoken from our sleep a few times from the noise of the bottom corner of the rainfly flapping on one side of the tent. We were a little nervous the first night as the tent was shaking and flapping some but the tent held up just fine. We purchased 4 stakes for camping in sand and tied the 4 orange guylines from the rain fly that come with the tent to the stakes and they never budged. We were able to find some pretty compact sand, if you were in normal sand I dont know if the stakes that came with the tent would work very well and I think you would definitely need at least the four sand stakes to attach to the rainfly.
Overall we really liked this tent, it was roomy, fairly easy to set up ( highly recommend setting it up at home first to try), having two doors is very nice especially when the whole side of the tent is covered by the rainfly. As long as you keep the screens closed the bugs should be kept out. It didn't rain at all while we were there but since the rainfly comes all the way down and there is the "tub" design at the bottom, I can't imagine water getting in.
This has nothing to do with the tent but after camping in two of the hottest Summer days of 2017 with heat indexes above 100 during the day, I would suggest buying a power bank and a portable USB powered fan for each person and setting it up right next to your face when trying to sleep at night.
I think at $129 this tent is a very good value and I would recommend it.
