My latest set are SHP430, and I've been delighted with them.
They were inexpensive, reasonably comfy, but most importantly, they sound shockingly good for the price.
Context: I'm using these to listen to my iPod, while working, walking, etc.
The SHL3300s were a big disappointment, sadly.
Pros:
- Construction is wondrous. Heavy, solid, etc.
- The actual cans are massive, and fit snugly, blocking out ambient noise thoroughly.
Cons:
- Did I miss something saying these are noise-cancelling? These sound muffled to me. No high end at all, never mind clarity and/or separation.
- They are too snug, for my gigantic cranium anyway.
So, if you want to block out noise, including the high-end of the music you're listening to, and you have a reasonably-sized noggin, have at it.
For me, I'm off to Best Buy, to listen before I buy.
Audio - 3/5 but for the price 5/5
The audio is pretty damn good for the price. It certainly isn't bad, but nothing special for me since I'm looking to get more into audiophile grade equipment. I also enjoy a more V-shaped sound signature and these lack in the bass in comparison to my current setup. (Albeit it a terrible setup)
Comfort 3/5
These are not that comfortable. They slide around a lot, the cord is irremovable so that can change the comfort somewhat. Also, they sit on my ears and can get pretty hot. The band clamps quite a bit for me, but I have a larger head so that may be it. When I take these to the gym, any movement makes them slide off so definitely not gym headphones.
Build Quality 4/5
Even though I don't find them that comfortable, their plastic build quality seems pretty good. It doesn't feel like cheap plastic, and has satisfying clicks whenever adjusting the band. They fold nicely for storage or travel and the cord is a nice coiled one that allows for seamless tugging and what not. They also look pretty nice.
Now I don't know if this was Amazon or Philips, but my package came terribly banged up. The headphones were barely inside the packaging. So much so, the moment I picked them up, they fell out of the plastic shell. It was like if someone opened them and then threw them back into the box, aiming for the plastic mold. They also had what seemed like fabric tears on the headband. The box looked pretty beat up and I have no understanding as to why.
Obviously I'm not going to return them as they are only $20 but I probably won't be buying another Philips headset unless I get confirmation on who was at fault for the packaging.
I'd say give them a go if you are just looking to get a decent pair of headphones that are upgrades over general speakers, ipod earbuds, or other cheap audio equipment.

Bose uses electronics to generate what I call, anti-noise, to cancel out the background noise you'd hear - thus letting you hear just the music better. Philips uses big ear cups to cover your ears well, so that the noise does not get in... and it helps, but not as well as Bose's noise-canceling product.
Bose needs a AAA battery to run the electronics, Philips does not.
Bose has a smaller flimsier, wire from the headset to your music device, Philips uses a larger stronger wire, might hold up better than Bose, but in the nearly 10 years that I've had Bose headsets I've never had a wire go bad.
Bose gives you a nice traveling case, nothing comes with the Philips set.
Bose sits easier on my head, lighter, does not pinch my head as tight, but Philips is pretty good, and I don't have a lot of hair so comfort on my head is important to me, and I could live with the Philips, especially for one tenth the cost of Bose.
I bought another one again. It is unbelievable that it is my last returned headphones. SO SAD!
