This product is very good, very refreshing and natural. I have been going all natural on my hair and cutting out chemicals and the normal shampoo and conditioner we have in stores. I have thick frizzy hair and an oily scalp with dandruff so I wash my hair twice a week and I’ve been using the Tasmanian beer and honey shampoo and it’s great! It lathers very nicely and it’s just as soapy and bubbly as the other shampoos I’ve used when it comes to the lather and the bar last a long time. I recommend that when you use it after washing it out make sure you wash it out good, I always use cold water at the end of my shower and it helps close the hair follicles as well. Also the conditioner bar is also great but only do the ends with it not the scalp and once your hair drys it’s great and your head will feel so fresh and so clean. you do not need the vinegar rinse if you wash and rinse out your hair good and not use the conditioner bar on your scalp. My hair is so free and shiny. also if you suffer from dandruff you can always boil rosemary and clove in water and after you wash and get out of the shower brush your hair just use the rosemary and clove spray on your scalp and spray your roots real good and your scalp will be great, I know longer have dandruff this soap will not be the cause of it unless you have a build up and already suffer with it but with this shampoo bar and my spray my scalp and hair have never been better!!!

Smells like a brewery

A little backstory first: I grew up living in homes where the source of water was from a well, fluoride free, decently clean water. 7 months ago my family and I moved from Minnesota to Texas, and to city living (not a fan!). Now our water is full of chlorine and other chemicals. For the first time in my life (almost 30 years) I had dandruff. We got a shower head filter for the water and that helped some. But then I decided to take the leap on shampoo bars because I had finally read and researched the ingredients in my shampoo and conditioner. I wanted something that wasn't filled with ingredient after ingredient after ingredient. I searched and read reviews and this one caught my attention. My husband and I brew mead (honey wine) and have done lots of research on the benefits of honey and everything that goes with it. Reading the ingredients of this and seeing that it uses honey and the beeswax basically had me sold, then there was the hops and beer. Got me.

Now about the product itself. First off, it smells amazing and not overpowering in my opinion. Great size bar, especially when you realize as you are washing that you really do not need a lot from the bar. As of right now, I have used it 3 times. The moment it was on my hair, my hair felt smooth. I held the bar and stroked from root to end until I felt that all my hair had some on, then lathered. And boy did it lather! It rinses out well, however because of other reviews I saw of build up I use pretty hot water to rinse. I don't feel any leftover residue in my hair, and my hair is mostly soft but it does feel a little dry. I did some research on their website before even using the product, and they recommend an apple cider vinegar (acv) rinse after your shampoo. I haven't tried it yet, but I will and will probably update with that result. In their how to video on their website they make sure to point out that if you have been using regular shampoo and conditioner, it will take time for your hair to adjust to not using those.

Because of the research I did, and the reviews I looked at, I cannot bring myself to give them anything less than 5 stars for this product. If you don't look things up then you might think this is a bad product and doesn't do what it should, but it does and it just takes time and sometimes another product in combination (like the acv rinse). I had thought about ordering straight from their website, but I'm in the US and they are out of the country so their shipping is high unless you buy a certain amount from them. Which I understand, because who wants to send something internationally that will make you lose money because of shipping costs? Overall, they are a great company putting out amazing products and I will definitely buy from them again!

Mostly Good for Very Oily Hair

About my hair: I’m 33 and have always treated my hair kindly. I don’t heat style or use hairspray-type products, and I brush my hair carefully so as not to tear it and cause split ends. Nevertheless, my hair has been falling out more than I’d like over the past several years and looking thin around my scalp. My hair is shoulder-length, wavy, very soft, very porous, prone to flyaways, and it tangles at the gentlest movement. My hair, like my skin, is extremely oily, and since I live in a tropical environment, the humidity exacerbates that and often causes frizziness.

I love the ingredients in this bar and am mostly happy with it. I cut it into quarters when I received it to make it last longer, and I keep it dry when not in use. Using it every other day, each quarter has lasted for about one month for a total of four months to use a complete bar. I do find it very difficult to lather, and if I don’t get every inch of my hair lathered and then let it sit for a few minutes, my hair will be greasy by the time it dries. Since my water is treated, municipal water, I know it’s important to use a diluted apple cider vinegar rinse, and my hair immediately feels amazing once I’ve done that, stripping off the tacky residue caused by the combination of treated water and an actual (non-detergent) soap. I also do not use conditioner afterward, and I let the apple cider vinegar rinse be my final rinse, clipping my hair up and keeping it out of the running water thereafter.

If my lathering technique was successful, my hair is absolutely gorgeous by the time it dries! It is soft and shiny. It’s been getting thicker and is no longer falling out (that missing hair is growing back, so my scalp looks more filled-in after three months). It has become much less prone to tangles. Flyaways do not happen anymore, and somehow, even in this humidity, neither does frizziness. All dandruff I had recently started experiencing is also gone. And the smell of the apple cider vinegar rinse does not stick around for too long. Also, almost everything makes me break out, and just rinsing out all other shampoos and conditioners has always made my face, shoulders, back, and chest break out (even though I soap down afterward), but those areas are now 100% clear. This does not make me break out. Hooray!

Now the cons. Besides how difficult it is to lather, I wish that after 4 months of use, I wouldn’t have to shampoo as often before my hair gets oily. I have put in a lot of effort trying to make my hair get used to fewer washings, but it’s just not happening. I use a very nice brush, and I use the brushing technique recommended on the shampoo manufacturer’s website. Like I said, I wash my hair every other day, and by the second day, my hair is ALWAYS super oily. It’s oily from roots to ends, and you can even easily notice it when I put it in a ponytail as my hair tries to form strand-segments, leaving many streaks of scalp visible. And if I let my hair touch my (also very oily) face at all on these days, I WILL break out. So, I really don’t care for that. I’m constantly alternating an awesome hair day with a bad hair day, but honestly, the awesome hair days are worth it to me. Though my measly budget can barely afford this shampoo (I’ve had to make other sacrifices), I will continue buying it.
