The LaChapell Audio 983M is a half-rack single channel valve mic preamp using the same circuit as the 983S mkII aimed at home studios, podcasters or producers looking for a high-quality portable mic pre.
The LaChapell Audio 983M uses LaChapell’s innovative True48 dynamic phantom power supply which delivers true 48V phantom power even to power-hungry microphones for more detailed recordings and greater headroom.
The 983M boasts all the same features as the 983S mkII, housed in a half-rack format, including its Jensen JT-115k microphone input transformer and 12AX7/ECC83 valves coupled with a Cinemag CMOQ nickel alloy output transformers. It also has Burr-Brown and THAT Corporation line drivers.
With an ultra-low output impedance, the 983M provides unmatched sound quality even with long cable runs for us in theatres and remote systems.
Controls over the different input and output stages offer a choice between clean, transparent sound or warm, full of richness. A new LED meter section is also included as well as +48V phantom power, -20dB Pad, polarity reversal, mute and a Hi-pass filter.
