About the Author

Pat Young grew up in the south west of Scotland where she still lives, sometimes. She often goes to the other extreme, the south west of France, in search of sunlight. Pat never expected to be a writer. Then she found a discarded book with a wad of cash tucked in the flyleaf. ‘What if something awful happened to the person who lost this book?’ she thought, and she was off. Pat knew nothing of writing, but she knew a thing or two about books, having studied English, French and German at Glasgow University. A passion for languages led to a career she loved and then a successful part-time business that allowed her some free-time, at last. Pat had plans, none of which included sitting at her desk from daybreak till dusk. But some days she has to. Because there’s a story to be told. And when it’s done, she can go out to play. On zip-wires and abseil ropes, or just the tennis court. Pat writes psychological thrillers. Till the Dust Settles is her debut, from Bloodhound Books.

Pat Young is a Number 1 Bestselling author of psychological thrillers.

Pat's debut novel Till the Dust Settles was awarded the prestigious Constable Stag trophy by the Scottish Association of Writers and hit the top spot on Amazon one week after its sequel was released. Pat has also won prizes for her short stories, including the Imprint Writing Award.

Pat was born in Ayrshire, Scotland but now lives in Leeds, Yorkshire. She accidentally became a writer when she found a book with a letter and money hidden inside. That was enough to set her hyperactive imagination on fire and she wrote the story during Nanowrimo. That story became Pat's third published novel, One Perfect Witness.

The idea for Till the Dust Settles came later, when Pat watched a documentary about the dust cloud that shrouded Manhattan on 9/11 and thought, 'What if ...?' Readers and reviewers in the UK and the USA loved Pat's debut and asked for a sequel. Pat realised Lucie's story was not over and wrote I know where you live.

All Pat wants is for people to read her stories and enjoy them. If you do, she'd love you to leave a review.

WOW! Simply brilliant. I was glued to the book from the beginning until the end, as I was with the first book, Til the Dust Settles.

Great characters, nail-biting suspense and a really good plot combined to make both of these two books 'must reads'.

Saw this title, sounded interesting, I'm into psychological thrillers right now. As I was reading this book,I sometimes felt like something was missing.I was right. I needed to read the first book. There was just a tad bit of confusion, but I figured it out. There was backstory, and a first book.
I Know Where you Live, had a lot of twists and turns. Scary moments with a child involved. It makes sense with the knowledge of the first book.
I don't know if there is a third book involved, but it might help make understanding more of the why.Whatever happened with sophie? How long did they stay in Scotland? What did Seth do.? Who sold them out in Texas.
I ordered book one, I may wait and read first book, then second book.
It was well written, and I enjoyed the mystery very much.
I'm giving the story 4 and a half stars.
You won't be disappointed

It was an interesting story, not a real thriller, but a good story all the same. I would have liked more background on what happened to Penny with regards to the Scott.

Brilliant read...

I just finished "I Know Where You Live" by Pat Young and I enjoyed this book so much! This book is a very plot-driven, quick read. Once I started, I had a hard time putting the book down because there truly weren't any slow points where I was waiting for the story to move forward. The pace of this story is quick and engaging.

Also, I found out after I started this book that it actually involves a partial follow-on to a story told in a previous book. I worried that since I didn't read the first book, I may not understand some of the plot points--but that wasn't the case at all! This book really isn't a sequel. It stands completely on its own as a novel, and the events from the other book--though related--aren't really the point of this book.

This novel tells the story of Penny and her husband Seth. They live in Texas, but decide to make the move to France for a great career opportunity for Seth. Penny thinks the move will be good for their two kids and for Seth. But Penny also has ulterior motives for wanting the move--motives that she hasn't told her family about.

Penny believes she is being watched, and she thinks she knows why...

As Penny, Seth, and their two young children are waiting to fly to France, they meet a young woman named Sophie. Sophie instantly charms the little Gates family. She is traveling to France to seek out work as an Au Pair, and to hopefully find her father who left when she was quite young. Sophie is young, fun, and great with kids. She is also fluent in French--something the Gates family is not. As the family and Sophie grow closer, hiring Sophie as their Au Pair seems like a dream come true.

But then one day, while Sophie is caring for the younger child, Ethan, he goes missing...

It is every parent's worst nightmare--living in a foreign country, not speaking the language, and unable to find their child. Sophie says she left him for just a quick moment, and in that time he vanished. The Gates go to the police, who encourage them to use the media to spread the word. Someone must have seen Ethan! But the Gates are hesitant. They don't want to go to the media. You see, the Gates are not who they say they are, and doing what they need to do to find their child may mean revealing their true selves to the world.

The Gates are hiding their identity, but who else is hiding something?

I highly recommend this book, and plan to put it on a list of novels that I recommend to post-graduate readers. The setting in France (and a few other places that you'll see when you get into the story) are fun to read about. The plot moves quickly. Pat Young also uses the tool of alternating perspectives. We see things from Penny's point of view, Sophie's point of view, and a mysterious third person's point of view. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a mystery and the thrill of a fast-paced, secret-driven novel.

There were times when both Sophie and Penny had these incredible moments of reflection and introspection. At first I enjoyed the plot immensely, but didn't necessarily feel a strong connection with any characters. However, as the story progresses, the way the women in this novel have a raw moment of clarity on their lives, or their actions--these really drew me in. By the end, I truly felt for these characters and had a range of emotions about their story progressions.

I want to express my gratitude to NetGalley, Pat Young, and Bloodhound Books for a copy of this novel in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Psychological thriller that kept you on your feet wanting to read more. I believe if I had read the first book I would have understood what was going on a little better but I don’t blame the authorization is why I gave it five stars not four. I will read the first book now. You can read this book without the first and get the basic gist, but if you have a chance read book one first.
One the other hand, the characters are real. You can identify with them. Hopefully there will be a third book so we can follow up with their story.

After reading Till the Dust Settles I knew I had to read the sequel I Know Where You Live. Pat Young I will not hesitate to read any of your works. You captivated, kept me guessing, and fall in love with the characters. You handled child abduction with realism. This book promised everything it said and more. The only thing I wished I knew was what finally ended up happening to Sonya. I would not hesitate to recommend this book

An excellent follow up to her first book, Till the dust settles. I read a couple of other books between the two. As such I enjoyed how the main characters had developed over the 10;year gap. In particular we continue to feel for main character Penny whose life has moved on but is still haunted by her past around 9/11. This time the action, although slow initially, soon developed at a pace as we move from the the US to France and finally Scotland. Pat’s attention to detail again shines through in this, her second novel. I knew exactly where she was describing in South West Scotland and she was spot on. The characters are interesting particularly Sophie, who was intially well intentioned and then became embollied in a web of deceit that was to backfire so spectacularly. The real villain of the piece is an interesting character who displays all the worst of human nature and on the odd occasion some degree of humanity. Little Ethan is a delight, the reader can’t fail to love this little boy.
The novel has lots of twists and turns as we head to the final spectacular ending. The reader never knows quite where we are going next which adds to the books enjoyment. A great read from start to finish!

I had read Till the Dust Settles and then this sequel lived up to the test. It was probably even better certainly a page turner and I was not able to put it down. Well done Pat who I met in Carcassonne and I have read The Perfect Witness as well. Thanks Jane

Pat Young’s second book is the sequel to Till the Dust Settles and tells the story of her heroine from the first book, as she enjoys her life in the witness protection programme. It’s a fast-paced story with excellent characterisation and clear-cut, well described locations. It’s a story of kidnap and the actions of the family and their nanny after the kidnap. I would recommend you read the first book, in order to obtain the full, background story, but with this author, believe me its no hardship to read her debut novel! Highly recommended.
