It is strange that people are dinging this knife a star over its name. Seems petty. My work bag functions as a mini bug out bag that is full of lightweight bugout gear in a discreet Ogio backpack. It travels with me every day, so I want it as light and discreet as possible. The Bugout's light weight and subdued appearance make it a perfect addition. The knife doesn't look scary, tactical or stabby like my PM2, making it ideal for office use. It has no 50/50 choil, so unlike the smaller Spydercos, you get maximum blade length in a smaller knife. The deep carry clip and coated blade add to the stealthiness.

Speaking of the deep carry clip, it is one of the best I've seen on a production knife. It is short and deep with no distinguishing markings. Its a nice touch that the color matches the blade. Many other knives at this price point need a $30 aftermarket clip to equal this knife. The deep carry clips BM sent me for my Mini Grip and Barrage are not nearly as discreet. I factor this clip into the Bugout's overall value.

I'm fine with the price of this knife because you get good s30v steel, a great clip, great ergonomics, and the spectacular Axis lock. It has a minimal liner much like the pricier BM 940. IMO, the BM Axis lock and Spydie compression lock are the best locks for flipping and one handed operation, and most knives with this type of lock are pricey. Personally, I have a harder time justifying paying over $50 for a liner/frame/back lock folder when knives like the Ontario Rat 2 and QSP Parrot exist.

Mine came with a perfectly centered blade that is sharp enough to push cut and curve cut copy paper. Impressive. The blade has zero play, but it was a little tight and didnt swing freely out of the box. I loosened the pivot screw slightly, and it now opens and closes by gravity with much less blade play than my other BMs.

Though I was hesitant to buy this knife due to some sketchy and disingenuous reviews, it has far exceeded my expectations and I'm thinking about buying another. Love it.
Update: Dyed my green Bugout and QSP with RIT Scarlet to give them less military/ tactical appearances. Very pleased with how they turned out. Mixed 1/2 packet powders RIT with a quart of water and a pint of white vinegar. Simmered in a coffee can on the bbq grill so I didn't stain any pans or stink up the house. Took 2 minutes to get the Bugout color I wanted, and 10 to dye the G10 scales on the Parrot.

Right out the box I was awestruck with how light the Bugout was. Like it’s really light lol. And it’s quite thin also! I have quite Big hands width wise and at first it felt a little strange to open (only because I’ve always bought very very chunky knives) even so I still got used to it very fast and now it’s one of my favorite knives to fidget with! that is the only reason I put ergonomics at 4 stars instead of five, it’s really just a preference thing, but if my fat hands could get used to it you can too lol. But none of that takes away from its sturdiness for its size or high quality build at all! One of the first things you’ll notice when you open it up is how insanely smooth the action is. If it’s not smooth right away just keep fidgeting with it and trust me it’ll be silky smooth is no time! I’m a huge fan of anything benchmade and the bugout in my opinion has to be the best EDC knife I’ve ever had as regards practicality. I quality control tested it and it passed my inspection with flying colors. And of course it’s extremely sharp, it glides through paper and cardboard which is what I initially tested it with. Keep in mind it’s not going to be ridiculously sturdy like a Benchmade Adamas or something like that but it is an absolutely fantastic blade, and if your looking for a high quality EDC this is it, and it’s worth every penny! But if you’re looking for something extremely durable and just bulletproof in every way look for something along the lines of an Osborne, Mini Adamas, or something like that from benchmade. Hopefully this made some sense and helps y’all out a bit 🤙

I bought this knife as an EDC and for camping/hiking use. I have a heavy duty bushcraft knife for batoning and chopping wood and this bugout is a perfect complement to that. It is so lightweight. I had no idea how much I'd appreciate that. By comparison, my other EDC knives feel like lead weights in my pocket. Its minimal design is an inherent part of its brilliance. I love the scales. They don't feel cheap to me. If I try really hard I can get them to flex a tiny bit in the middle but in no way is that any part of practical use. I think the color scheme is really slick. Black, muted blade with matte green scales. I absolutely love the look. Blade is robust enough to cut through most things (zip ties, rope, boxes, etc.) and still slice apples like butter. Axis lock is totally solid. Zero blade play. Flicks open with minimal effort. Deep carry clip which helps in my work environment where I don't want others paying attention to my knife. Hardly notice it in my pocket. Lifetime sharpening by Benchmade. S30V steel - great balance between ease of sharpening, toughness and edge retention. Made in USA. Just hits on all cylinders. Only downside is price at ~$145. But then I realize I spend that much on a couple family dinners out these days. This knife is worth it.

Appealing edc! I purchased this item for a friend, however it didn't arrive in time before my buddy headed back to Argentina. So, I let him select one of my other blades. This is a great, light, sharp and minimal everyday carry. The ergonomics are good, it feels very comfortable in the hand, i have small to medium hands. Im inclined to use fuller blades on a daily, even though this is a good quality blade. I wouldn't feel comfortable hacking away at heavy duty gay lord boxes or other misc debris found in the loading department and around the warehouse. The brand Benchmade speaks for itself, I'm certain it would be up to the task, but I prefer a meatier knife like the Coldsteel Recon one. Nonetheless, you wouldn't be disappointed if you owned this bugout. I didn't make this purchase for myself so I did return it, not because I didn't like it, but because I felt it wasn't suitable for my needs and I still have my trusty griptilian, I hope this helps.
