I really enjoyed this book! Spencer and Kenna’s chemistry literally leaps off the page while he is the protector for her in this small town. Between the intrigue, romance and suspense as well as the books fast pace, I had a difficult time putting it down. I received an advanced review copy for free and am voluntarily leaving a review

A romance grows and blooms amid the harsh realities of returning to her hometown, as Kenna discovers. With her father's health declining by the day, she has no choice but to come home and face her youthful demons and give him to help he so desperately needs. This fast-paced and suspenseful novel takes a gruesome turn when Kenna attempts to serve papers on the belligerent leader of the Hickory Hills rebels, she discovers the folly of going up the mountain on her own.

When Kenna returns to her home town she literally bumps into Spencer. Her being there isvto help her father with his process service. Spencer is working security and he becomes very protective of Kenna. Difficulties with business causing physical harm, belligerent and abusive ex, threatening messages from unknown caller rears their heads andvthe sheriff seems to do very little. It was a bit predictable in parts, such as Kenna believed she could handle things herself and suffering for it. It fell away in parts as there was no explanation as to how Colt and Ami were dealt with, so it seemed a bit abrupt at the end.

Focusing primarily on romantic suspense, she weaves a little bit of reality with a little bit of make-believe to create stories with heat, heart and all the feels.
