KNA AP-2 Acoustic pickup

The KNA AP-2 pickup has exceeded my expectations! I purchased it for use on an open back Good Time 5 string banjo for use in multi jam style gatherings where fellow musicians were interested in higher volume on some numbers. I was concerned about adequate placement of the device with optimal pickup without compromising the tone or volume provided by the head of the instrument. My music partner and I were surprised to obtain good results multiple places! I settled on attachment to the head under the tail piece. It is easy to use from there without interference with the cord, with easy access to volume control and low likelihood of damage to the pickup. My sales engineer, Logan Miller, was helpful and has encouraged continued communication if any issues arise. Great working with Sweetwater!

Music background: Singer song writer for 55 years

Parlor Friendly!

I was having a hard time finding a pick-up that would fit my parlor-sized Recording King before this. The putty to affix the pick-up that comes with it is a bit weak, however, if you don't worry about your instrument's finish you could simply use double-sided tape-- that's what I did, and I don't plan on removing the pick-up anytime soon anyways. Just be mindful of placement, make sure the pick-up is as close to the sound hole as you can get it, on the side where the cord will hang down (as opposed to across the strings). I've tested this pick-up at two open mics and so far, so good. I was honestly a little surprised about how clear the sound quality is over a small bar's PA system. I would definitely recommend this to others. If you have a parlor guitar, lute, mandolin, uke, or any other instrument with a sound hole smaller than 3.5"-- this is a great way to turn your baby "electric."

Great Pick Up!

This KNA AP-2 is a great pick up. Finally, I was able to play my acoustic guitar in church. I love the fact that it has a volume button and I can control the volume myself.

Amping my acoustic blues bass

Neat and useful item. My built in pickup failed and the AFA looked like a. Viable option. I mounted mine under the bridge. Mounting is simple with either the two sided mount disc that is self adhesive or a Percy for temp installation. The pick up is good and it amplifies without distortion. It was an easy solution to a shop repair... It was here in 3 days. The amp cord is included and it not very intrusive.

As a multi-instrumentalist and engineer, it just makes sense to keep a decent piezo contact pickup like the Kremona AP-2 handy. I swapped out the adhesive pad with a bit of reusable sticky tack so I could slap it on anything, which is how I figured out that it's an amazing pickup for my trumpet's straight mute. By running the output through my mini guitar amp and into my headphones, I've created a mostly silent practice system that sounds great and lets me play late at night, without waking up the house. The volume knob is a nice bonus too, since I can adjust the volume without even setting down my horn.
