Product Description
Don't know which Cherry switch fits you the most?
Purchase this tester and try yourself before you chose keyboard! Our kit is designed to simulate the actual feeling on a real cherry mx switch mechanical keyboard by mounting all the actual switches on a special design model!
Includeds 9 clear keycaps, Cherry MX switch types, and sound dampening O-rings.
-Cherry MX Red.Low actuation force, silent, smooth. The most popular switch for gaming, it has the lowest force required to hold the key down (just imagine how long you hold "w" to move forward in most games, this key won't tire your hand). One of the most popular keys, used in many gaming keyboards.
-Cherry MX Black. High actuation force, silent, smooth. Basically a slightly more resistant red, a matter of personal preference.
-Cherry MX Blue. Medium actuation force, clicky, loud. Very popular for typists who don't mind annoying their neighbors.
-Cherry MX Brown.Low actuation force, quiet tactile bump. Can be viewed as a compromise between the Red and Blue, typists generally prefer the tactile "bump" feeling, yet the key is quiet so it won't annoy your neighbors. One of the most common key types, as it is used by both gamers and typists.
-Cherry MX Green. Tactile & Clicky 80g actuation force - Firm tactile and clicky switch.
-Cherry MX Gray-brown. Firm Linear 60g actuation force - Tactile bump, no click.
-Cherry MX Silver. Soft linear 45g actuation force - Smooth and No tactile bump.
-Cherry MX clear. Tactile 55g actuation force - Tactile bump, no click.
-Cherry MX white. Tactile & Clicky 65g actuation force - Tactile and lighter click switch.

I noticed another buyer put up a review saying the switch tester is fragile. I'm not sure why they think that aside from them possibly having a defective product. The base is pretty sturdy. I don't think the base would break if I threw it at concrete. The switches are cherry switches. The keycaps are thick plastic. Some of the switches fit in the base less securely than others so when you change the O-rings sometimes the switch comes with the keycap, but that's not much of an issue for me since it stays put otherwise. They don't wiggle around. The keycaps fit securely onto the switches. All of my switches appear to function normally. Hopefully the other buyer got a lemon and my experience is the usual experience. Their photo looks pretty bad, but mine has no defects at all.
Yes, the keys are arranged in a completely random order, from what I can tell. Even if the keys had been arranged in some logical order, there's always a good chance that an owner will rearrange the keys anyway, so to me it's not a big deal at all.
The tester comes with black rubber o-rings installed. Some may complain about it, but it made no difference to me. After testing the switches with and without, I think I prefer the o-rings in place anyway, as the noise dampening is more prominent the harder you strike the keys.
Complaints? I think the clear keys could stand to be a bit clearer so the colors of the switches are more prominent under the caps. And I think it would have been nice if they included a little pamphlet describing the switches, but it's nothing that a quick net search doesn't sort out.
Could it be cheaper for a handful of switches and a piece of plastic? Well, sure. Can't everything be a bit cheaper? Something like this however always has very little inherent value. Once you know what switch you like, what's the point in keeping it aside from having yet another pointless desktop toy. It also would have been nice if they included a few blank spaces for future expansion for those planning on keeping this and not just passing it on to someone in need of a sampler.
Overall though, great test kit! It came with the keycap puller and the O rings attached. The puller is a bit intense since it pulls off everything, including the keycap and switch together, but your fingers are actually slightly more effective, nbd. And the switches seem genuine. I appreciate having this tester because I do want to have a mechanical keyboard and splurge for myself :D Great price and great product! Got delivered really quickly too. I recommend buying!

It’s honestly perfect for what it is, plus a nice fiddling toy.
There's 9 switches in total.
3 linear switches :
- Cherry MX Red
- Cherry MX Black
- Cherry MX Linear Grey
3 tactile switches :
- Cherry MX Brown
- Cherry MX Clear
- Cherry MX Tactile Grey
3 clicky switches :
- Cherry MX Blue
- Cherry MX Green
- Cherry MX White
The switches came in a random setup so I rearranged them based on type and feedback.
I attached a photo with the switches aligned (top: linear; middle: tactile; bottom: clicky), in order of strength needed for activation.
Another benefit to this tester is that it includes O-Rings which slightly reduces the key travel and noise.
There are other size O rings available but these do give some idea to any benefit to using O Rings.
I highly recommend this key switch tester to anyone who wants a mechanical key switch keyboard.
A decent price and a very good package.
Overall, i'm really happy with this product and my only cons would be that their is no Cherry MX Silver, no Cherry MX Silent Red and no Cherry MX Silent Black !
