PROS:
-The machine is all metal, except for the outer case. It is VERY easy to access the machinery to clean and oil, which was not the case for the Brother machines I own.
-There is very little vibration and noise which seems to cut down on fatigue when I sew for hours. And the faster I sew, the vibration and noise don't increase much at all.
-Sewing curves is so easy that you have to be careful to not make a curved seam by mistake.
-This machine supposedly has the same motor as the higher end Juki portables, but you have to thread it yourself and there are a few less bells and whistles that you might not really need.
-Very fast. The machine sews 1500 stitches a minute, which is not as fast as a commercial machine, but wonderfully fast in a portable.
-Diagram in machine shows not only how to thread, but where to oil the machine.
-Cutting knife is very easy to disengage and adjust. Just a touch of your finger will disengage and reengage the knife
CONS:
-I wish I could sew a narrower serger seam than the machine allows with 4 threads. You can narrow the width of the seam very easily, but it is still wider than I pefer to sew with. Maybe I need to sew with it more to find a better way, but I doubt it.
-No catch tray for cut fabric. I am using my old Brother catch tray on this machine for the moment. I have had no luck finding anything that Juki might make to catch cut fabric and threads as sew. I'll have to explore what others are using.
Overall, I am thrilled with this machine. I'm so glad I made the jump up.
My fist project was making 12 pillow cases and it turned out great! Will update later after using it for a while :)
I do recommend this overlock, everything looks professionally done 👌🏻

The manual is good but leaves out some details which I figured out through trial and error. The machine does not move or rattle around my table at high speed and is surprisingly reliable. No complaints. Easy to thread

Was dreaming about Juki for long time. Really wanted commercial one, but couldn't afford one still yet. Read other peoples reviews on diffetent Jukis household surgers , and stopped at this one. On the picture you can easily see where is Juki and where this piece of garbage from Singer examples... Feels I finally got read of toxic relationship, trying to make Singer works. Finally I'm free and torture is over. Can't be more happy just from the fist tryout, attempt to use my now own Juki. Now I need to get threads!!!
Olso happy to learn that this Juki can use just simple houhold spools! That is do great when you really need the exact colors thread for your overlock fabric project!!!. It easy to find the households spools than cones. Now my Christmas present will be Juki sewing machine, so will ditch my sewing Singer too (it only wirks with one antique foot I found in the antique store, so it does not missing the loops. Well, Singer brand in America , at least that one sold at Joan
fabric I got myline from (sewing machine and surger) 10 years ago, not the same my grand ma had since October revolution imported from America I guess. Now all "Zinger" made cheap you elsewhere else but America.

"Let's start with 2 reasons why I didn't give it 5 stars:
1) This is not my first Juki sewing machine, but it is the first that was NOT made in Japan (this particular one
was made in China). We purchased JUKI MO-114D but we received Juki MO-114DN. The seller said it's the
same machine, the last letter only indicates where it was manufactured. the box was previously opened (it
was stapled and taped but you could see layer of original tape under. There was yellow stain on bottom of
foam core inside, but I couldn't detect any leak from the machine (must be old packaging); The "accessories
bag" that was listed in content was missing (unless the plastic sandwich bag counts as "accessories bag"?
You never know these days.
2) The part that annoys me to no end is saving money on cable length that sewing machine's companies
practice lately! I thought Juki would be exception - but apparently not, at least not for this home-use serger
(I HATE returns but I almost returned the item because of that): The cord that connects machine to pedal is
one foot shorter than it should be in my opinion - and it's not something where you can not use extension
cord to fix the problem.
When I placed my machine the way that is the most convenient to me (on the left side, towards the middle
of fairly narrow table, the pedal was somewhat dangling, not completely reaching the floor on one side
because the cord was short! The only way it could reach the floor and be stable on the floor was to pull the
serger to the edge of table, which doesn't leave me enough space to rest the hands. So I ended placing it
sort of under the angle. If it was just foot longer (as cords used to be some years ago), I wouldn't have to
struggle and change my sewing habits to fit shortages of design/moneysaving tricks. However, if you don't
care to sit beside the window, natural light coming to your left, you can solve the problem by placing serger
on the right edge of your desk - that way, the cable would go directly to the floor (instead of over the table
edge). The third option would be to drill the hole on the top of your desk so the cable
would go directly from the machine to the floor, leaving you option to place your serger little bit back instead
of being right into your face.
That being said, the machine works beautifully. I used the threads left in serger and tied the knots to my spools of threads so I could try machine right away without the need to thread it from the scratch; But threading doesn't seem complicated from what I saw; I am still nervous to play with the tension since this one (4 thread overlock) works beautifully - but I will get there.
The pressure was already set up and it worked both on cotton and stretchy fabric that I tried so far (I only had to move the differential knob once, to adjust it to stretchable fabric). Machine was all I hoped for (well, except for the pedal cord)! I wanted to find the fault in not being made in Japan, but so far, I am happy with it and how it performs.
It is very cute and surprisingly small but I love it because it does the job smoothly. It's a perfect machine for home use. And it's simple to use.
As most new machines, you have to buy accessories separately, but you have what you need for basic serging. I only wish there was hard case offered for additional price, because it is hard to store this machine when not in use with just soft vinyl cover.
To sum it all: As much as I am still annoyed with short pedal cord - I would highly recommend this product. I feel I got value for my money. it's enjoyable product.
