I have never used a 4K monitor and you have no idea how much time I have spent in doing research for something that would work for my photography purposes. People rave about this Philips monitor so I gave it a try. I just received my brand new monitor and when I plugged it in is defective and the menu doesn't even come up. The panel is simply bad and feel free to look at the photo I attached. This fist impression from Philips is NOT good. There are two reasons for this, the monitor box is inside another cardboard box without any bubble wrap and then the delivery people throw these items in their trucks like nothing. There’s nothing on the exterior that even says FRAGILE. If Philips would add bubble wrap that would certainly minimize or even avoid the risk of getting the product damaged and save a ton of money on repairs. Bubble wrap = happy customers without returns 👌I have purchased two Asus 1080p monitors and they are all perfect. I am really disappointed in this Philips brand. I have requested a replacement and I am willing to give this a second try but If I receive another bad unit then Philips will get a really bad review not only here at Amazon but in other forums that I participate in.UPDATE as of 12/1/2020:I received my replacement monitor and I like the screen a LOT. Just to be clear, this is my very first 4K monitor ever so I cannot say that LG or Asus or Dell or BenQ is better, but for the kind of stuff I do as a professional photographer I do NOT need an overpriced expensive 4K monitor and am really happy with this Philips monitor and I'm really excited. I hate to pay more money just because an item has a "well known" brand. I'm the type of guy that simply likes to pay for the best possible product at the lowest possible cost. I don't like over paying for no good reason and from all the reviews I read from other manufacturers their monitors also have major issues and complaints.I will also say that for some very strange reason the design of this monitor and stand fits much more closer to the wall, more so than my Asus 24" Pro Art series, and the distance where this Philips is sitting on my desk right now is just perfect. I thought this monitor was going to end up being ON MY FACE but is actually the opposite and that is just awesome! Great design.And last, the screen on the stand DOES tilt just a tiny bit downward and enough to adjust it to my liking and it functions the way is supposed to from where I'm sitting. I'm super glad because some people make such a big deal that this screen is not VESA mount capable but so what. I thought I was not going to like the stand but I was totally wrong.For the price this is indeed a fantastic monitor and I totally recommend it. The first Philips monitor I got was a disaster but this one made up for it because the image quality from this screen is TOP notch with crisp gorgeous looking colors. To me the gamma capability and quality is excellent! I’m bumping the score to five stars.UPDATE: At almost two years this monitor was working just fine, and yes, the monitor is definitely worth the price, (IF) the monitor was reliable, but just a few days ago the same thing that others have said has happened to me as well. Some have reported that "The there is a line to the right off the middle of the display. Quality control problem I guess. It comes and goes." Well, mine has that line towards the left, and yes, it comes and goes. It started doing that during an entire day, and now is not there anymore. That's not good at all. I hate this type of intermittent issues because the monitor works and it doesn't work, and I know now that is not a matter of "if" but "when" it will get much worse or actually just die on me. Is sad for me to say this but I don't trust this product anymore so I'm getting rid of this monitor and buying something else.I sure hope Philips doesn't test this monitor and finds "nothing" because if that happens that means someone else will get this defective monitor and that vertical line will eventually show up again. That's just not a nice thing to happen to someone else.UPDATE: It has been a little over one week since that ugly distorted and flickering vertical line showed up towards the middle left of my screen. This only happened that one day during several hours and all of the sudden the vertical line has disappeared. I contacted Philips and recommended to take a picture next time. The problem could have also been caused my my graphics card, or the Display Port Cable, who knows, but the Philips representative gave me some basic troubleshooting tips to see if any of those components is actually causing the vertical line.I REALLY like this monitor, I got me a Dell S2721Q 4K monitor and compared it to this Philips and the color quality from this Philips is indeed superior. The skin tones for professional photo editing look way nicer than the Dell. I am definitely going to keep my Philips.UPDATE as of 10/12/21:The vertical line has come back, intermittently. This is indeed really annoying.I swapped the monitor for a different one that I have here around the house and the problem does not happen on that other monitor so is not my graphics card nor my Display Port cable. The problem is my Philips monitor. I also tried selecting a different resolution per Philips technical support and recommendation and that did not fix the problem. My monitor as well as other's same complaint is indeed real and the problem is that since the line appears intermittently and whenever it feels like it, Philips might not see it if send them the monitor to troubleshoot. I will have to wait until the vertical line gets worse then I'll send it. Good thing I still have a few years of warranty.UPDATE 7/25/22The vertical flickering line still shows up all of the sudden, and then it goes away during a few weeks, and then it shows up again. This is really annoying and it doesn't inspire durability nor quality. I will be contacting Philips to get this repaired or replaced once and for all.
