The Bad: Expensive, owner's manual is text book lawyer writing and pretty much worthless.
The Ugly: Like every other string trimmers I've used, this one has problems with tangles and string breaking when not feeding properly. All of my other DeWalt tools are 5 star rated. I'm giving this one 4 stars because I expected more from DeWalt. After all, it is a string trimmer and there shouldn't be any problems with the main function.
On the positive side, it comes with a 5A hr battery which is considerably more powerful than the 20V one that comes with my cordless drill which is only 1.0 or 1.5A hr. It has enough juice to trim my 0.5acre yard several times before needing to be charged.
On the negative side, I have several comments. The folding feature which is nice if you have to store the trimmer in a tight space was no benefit for me, and its hinge mechanism was at the position that I would prefered that the handle was located. This requires me to put the handle above or below the middle which is the more natural balance point. My biggest issue with the trimmer is the weight. It has a cast aluminum head and heavy battery and is heavier than the gas trimmers that I've had. Also, the line keeps advancing when I try to run it along the ground (not bump it) and I'm sure that I'll be replacing the trim much sooner than later. The trigger is hard to modulate at less than full power - which it rarely needs to edge grass. Finally, I have difficulty holding the trimmer vertically to create edges against my driveway. I can never get it to the right position or to shoot the trimmings away from me, regardless which side of me I cut on or rotate the head.
All told, I don't recommend this and wish that I would have chosen something else.
