About this ebook

The Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs series continues with a couple fighting to keep what they thought they had and gain what they didn't know they needed.

Roxie Montgomery met her soul mate when she least expected it. When he asked her to marry him, she thought her happily ever after was only just beginning. Then, she found that walking into the sunset was much harder than her favorite books made it out to be. After a crushing loss, she feels as though she doesn't know her husband anymore, or rather…she doesn't know herself.

Carter Marshall has loved Roxie since the first time he saw her. But as the days pass between them, so does the distance. He doesn't know how to show her that he's all in, and honestly doesn't know if she's in at all. When an accident changes everything, they'll have to decide if what they have can be salvaged, or if starting over is the answer. Or even possible.

Without fighting, without a true new beginning, sometimes, the remnants of what was lost can leave anyone jagged, shells of what they were before. It will take more than the idea of forever for Roxie and Carter to find themselves again, but as the Montgomerys know, nothing worth fighting for is easy.

Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs #3, Another great book from Carrie Ann Ryan. This book was hard to read at points, not because it was bad but because it was so emotionally heart wrenching. I have been through something similar and the part where they actually talk about it was difficult to get through; despite having to stop to wipe away tears I still finished it in one sitting. Roxie and Carter hit a rough patch in their marriage and the accident at Thea's bakery didn't help any matters. Not knowing how to talk to each other anymore was their downfall. Roxie filed for divorce and Carter moved out. With family and friend not knowing what to do but watch from the sidelines and be there when they need them; which is difficult for Carter because he feels like he's not a Montgomery and they are Roxie's family they should be there for her. Only Roxie cut herself off from her family and has been spending time with Liam, one of the Boulder cousins. They still need to hit rock bottom before they can work their way back out of the hole they dug themselves into. Can they rebuild the relationship or is it too late to try? Overall, I love this series and this was an emotional rollercoaster. I knew I was in for an ugly cry when I picked this up but I wasn't prepared for how close to home it would hit for me. I'm sad to see this chapter of the Montgomery's to come to an end but I look forward to the Boulder Montgomerys.

I've been waiting for this book since the first Colorado Springs novel. Roxi and Carter's relationship has always been such a big question mark. I loved Carter, he seemed to be such a strong, caring man, perfectly fitting in with the Montgomerys. Roxie seemed sweet, but she wasn't as openly loving, welcoming as the others. She always seemed to be a little closed off. Now we know why. Their marriage was in trouble, and with a family full of HEA's, I was sure that their problems were keeping them from reaching out for help. My heart was breaking as their story unfolded. It happens often. SPOILER AHEAD: A miscarriage can put a huge strain on a relationship. She's feeling hurt, and maybe a bit of a failure. He may or may not be feeling these same hurts, but he thinks that he needs to put on a strong front for her. She thinks he doesn't care enough because he's not showing it. They don't talk about it, it festers. She begins to close off, he takes it as an affront. He closes off. They don't communicate. They become him and her. Can this be fixed? How? Carter was burned badly saving Thea in Restless Ink and this story picks up from there. His recovery time doesn't bring them any closer and when he's back on his feet they separate. Divorce papers taken out, it looked like a HEA wasn't in the cards. But we know better. And like that song goes, sometimes goodbye is a second chance. I loved watching them, not go back to the beginning as that's impossible, but start again. They finally talked about the elephant in the room, they communicated. That was the key. Their feelings for each other never died, it was just hidden under all their baggage. Clear the baggage, clear the air and begin anew. And I loved how they embraced going to counseling, realizing that they needed external help. Sometimes in novels, that's ignored. Congrats to Carrie Ann Ryan for tackling such a sensitive issue and incorporating it with her much loved Montgomery family. Oh, and introducing a new branch of the family tree. I can't wait to read Liam's story in the Montgomery Ink: Boulder arc!

I think what I loved most about Jagged Ink, is the fact it was after what everyone would think is the Happy Ever After ending. Most books are focused on finding your other half, but few actually tackle what happens after they meet. Carrie Ann Ryan asks the question "Is love enough?" in Jagged Ink. We're gotten peeks of Roxie and Carter's marriage through the eyes of her sisters in the Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs series. It's obvious they're keeping secrets from the rest of the family, a feat in itself considering the Montgomery clan. Those secrets come to a head when Carter is injured saving Thea from an explosion in her bakery. The theme throughout this book is communication. Roxie and Carter both love each other, but neither feels that's enough to overcome the rift that's grown between them. Carter thought he was doing the right thing by letting Roxie push him away, and Roxie didn't know who she was, let alone who she is with Carter. Both acknowledge, more than once, all they need to do is talk, but that's easier said than done. Neither one is ready to acknowledge the event that brought them to this impasse. Can they finally break the silence and talk about it? Is love really enough, or is letting go the answer? These are the questions Ryan's characters will have to tackle to find out if their HEA is real.
