I really enjoyed this book. There are several twists and turns, but they won't confuse the reader. She's wonderful at painting word pictures and building suspense. The characters are believable and so is the plot. Reading this was time well spent.

Inside the Whispers is a psychological thriller and the first in a series which tells the tale of one so motivated by selfish gain that they are willing to ruin lives to do it.

Samantha is a post-traumatic stress specialist who is seeing a disturbing trend in some of her patients. They have come in claiming to have been in the London Underground fire that happened recently. What is strange though, is that they all mention crowds and chaos and people dying and the guilt they are experiencing by not helping others out, yet there was nowhere near this type of mayhem or injuries reported. Then one by one these patients commit suicide. Added to this awful situation is Samantha’s schizophrenic sister who has trouble adapting to a normal world and has moved in with her and her manipulative actor boyfriend who is suddenly having the same memories of the fire. There are only a few people she can turn to for help, and now she might not be able to trust any of them.

I rather enjoyed this book. Yes, the ending was a bit stretched for me but the idea behind it and the central theme of memories, whether real or buried deep, made for an interesting thriller. Conn was really the most awful boyfriend and why she put up with his actions, I do not know. Her sister’s behaviour was so bizarre and when you thought she couldn’t get any worse, truths come out and you forgive her for a lot of reactions. I thought Samantha was a bit of a soft character who needed to learn to say NO more. But considering what she had gone through and that this is a fictional story we can cut her some slack.

The editing and flow of reading were good with enough questions to keep you going back for one more chapter. The chapters that were written from an unknown POV made for an interesting addition as you could attribute them to a number of different people and when the person is made known the true depth of selfishness is revealed.

A good story, well-written and definitely recommended.

It was so easy to like the main character and equally as easy to dislike two other characters. One character I initially disliked (she reminded me of a girl I grew up with & couldn’t wait to get away from as an adult), but grew to understand by the end of the book. I kept thinking I’d figured it out and by the end I realized I DID figure it out but wiped it out of my mind because I didn’t want it to be true. A great book that keeps you wanting to read more.

I only picked this one up because of the price....free. It's a good mystery but the characters were so vapid and pitiful. A smart psychoanalyst with no clue about anything having to due with her family life. A jerk boyfriend who's only interested in one thing and is also highly jealous for no reason. A. whacko sister with a violent streak and a job that does nothing but develop more and more stress.

After slogging through three fourths of the book I was, ready for the end. And when I finally arrived....it was not satisfying, Made my teeth grind. But a good twist none the less.

I really enjoyed the unique plot of this book and the extremely intelligent manner of telling such a complex story. I admit there was a point at which I wondered why certain characters' stories were included, but it soon became evident: they actually added 'texture' to the main characters' personalities and helped drive home their motivations, their own inner conflicts and complexities.
This book is definitely worth the read!

Best book I've read in years, a page turner!

I have come to really like A. J. Waines writing style. I stumbled on Girl on the Train and loved it. I searched her books and read one right after the other.

I appreciate a good psychological thriller. This book is exactly that. I look forward to more in the Dr Samantha Willerby series.

I found the characters totally believable. The mystery behind the suicides was intriguing. The ending made me stop and ponder a few moments. This is one of those books you almost need to read again to catch every nuance.

I found this to be a very interesting story with unique characters and storyline. Makes me wonder if something like this is possible and that makes it frightening. I've never read this author's work before but after reading this book, I'm planning on reading more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Start Of A Great, New Series By Her

I really enjoyed this first in a new series by this author. It held my interest the whole way through ! I had read one book by her previously which was depressing as it had so many mistakes but the presentation in this one is SO much better ! Not perfect but nothing horrendous, and as Bloodhound Books have requested, I'm emailing across the nitpicky stuff I spotted.
I did wonder about Sam's capabilities for the job she does, more than once. Her relationship with a very controlling man for starters should've thrown up red flags for her (as it did for me) and other aspects of her patients' issues I figured out long before she considered the same answer, and I'm certainly no psychologist in the least !! I would think she'd have figured out her sister's problems long before as well.
The ending is left open a little and it will be interesting to see where it goes in subsequent stories in the series. It will be good to follow her journey with Mimi, too.
I greatly enjoyed the twists 'n' turns and will be sticking with this series for sure.

How the author takes you step by step building the story is a thing in this book. Creating suspense and anxiety to know the truth soon builds up.

I read A Girl on a Train, which I enjoyed. This novel lacked the same finesse. Although it was a page turner, I thought there were perhaps too many red herrings. The scientific concept made a good plot and the ending surprised me!

This book is full of twists and turns. The beginning of a new series that I will be following.
When Dr Samantha Willerby, who treats trauma patients, discovers 3 of her clients are experiencing memories of something that didn't happen and then they start committing suicide, she knows something is going on.

An awesome story of intriguing proportions. A page turner and so hard to putdown. Each chapter seems to bring a new twist or even about face to the storyline. It completely grabs you and you arenot sure what will come next to surprise, confound or amaze you.
