A Boundary-shattering Headless 7-string from Ibanez

Part of Ibanez's boundary-pushing Quest series, the QX527PB vaunts a headless design built from the ground up to maximize tone, performance, and playing comfort. This 7-string electric guitar's lightweight nyatoh body resonates with rich, woody tones, while its poplar burl top brings eye-grabbing visuals into the fray. Technically minded players will be blown away by the zero-drag feel of the QX527PB's Parallel Wizard neck, and its slanted frets make intricate fretboard maneuvers like tapping, fingerstyle, and slapping feel effortless. This headless guitar's made-to-measure pickups exude amazing levels of articulation and definition that are bolstered by Ibanez's acclaimed dyna-MIX10 switching system. Rock-solid hardware, including a custom string lock and innovative Mono Tune bridge, ensures easy string changes and ultra-reliable, stage-worthy performance. Stainless steel frets round out the QX527PB's generous features. If you've been hunting for the perfect headless electric guitar — or even if you're considering your first headless instrument — the Ibanez QX527PB is guaranteed to unlock unlimited creative possibilities.

Parallel Wizard neck makes complex playing techniques easier

The QX527PB was built for high-level, technical playing styles, evidenced by its Parallel Wizard neck. Crafted from maple and bubinga, this ultra-stable 5-piece neck is 0.75 inches thick throughout its entire length, offering amazing playability for players who prefer a higher playing position. The QX527PB's heat-treated bird's-eye maple fingerboard not only turns heads, but its frets are also equally slanted at an 8-degree angle for easy execution of tapping, fingerstyle, bass-inspired slapping, and other intricate fretboard maneuvers. This headless 7-string electric guitar also includes stainless steel frets, which ensure long-lasting durability and effortless note bending. The guitarists here at Sweetwater have found the QX527PB to be incredibly versatile — it offers a zero-drag playing experience for technical metal, jazz-rock fusion, and any experimental genre you throw at it. If your personal style involves complex playing techniques, the QX527PB will permit you to play cleaner and faster than you ever thought possible.

Made-to-measure pickups yield an endless array of tones

Designed especially for headless guitars, the Ibanez QX527PB's Q58-7 humbuckers churn out divine sonic textures with astonishing levels of articulation and definition — a must-have for elaborate riffing and intricate, rapid-fire leads. The tonal balance of these pickups is unprecedented throughout the instrument's entire range. Plug into your favorite amp, and you'll experience muscular lows that are completely devoid of muddiness and mix-piercing highs that eschew harshness for a sublime-sounding clarity that enables every note within a chord structure to be heard. These pickups exhibit little self-noise, even in high-gain applications, and they play nice with both digital and analog effects. The QX527PB incudes dyna-MIX10 switching, which provides 10 different pickup combinations via an Alter Switch and 5-way lever switch. No matter the genre, the QX527PB can achieve the sound you're hearing in your head.

State-of-the-art hardware that can withstand aggressive playing styles

The QX527PB is teeming with cutting-edge, near-bulletproof hardware. Its custom string lock boast a straightforward one-piece design that's not only highly durable, but it also requires little maintenance. String changes are a breeze, and because the QX527PB doesn't require a proprietary set of strings, you can use whatever time-tested gauge and brand you'd like. You'll also appreciate the Mono Tune bridge. This expertly crafted bridge facilitates a wide intonation range, which makes down tuning a piece of cake. This headless extended-range guitar's Mono Tune bridge is also a cinch to adjust, and its streamlined saddle design lends a natural, organic character to every note you play.

A Great Headless 7 String For a Reasonable Price

Now of course $ is a lot of money, don't get me wrong, but when you look at this compared to the competition from companies like Strandberg or Kiesel, this guitar has a killer value. The guitar is, first off, absolutely gorgeous. It also plays super well and was super easy to set up myself. After I was all set up, I played around a little, and these are some of the best sounding pickups I have ever heard. They are super clear sounding while still having the perfect tone for just about every kind of sound. The wiring also helps with this. While a little confusing to learn what everything is, once you figure it out, you are able to utilize so many tones that you usually don't see on a seven string guitar. Glow in the dark side inlays are nice too, and the slanted frets don't cause much of an issue. They actually fit the way your hand moves more naturally for me.

comfortable, amazing sound

I was somewhat worried since I did not try this guitar, but I can affirm that from day 1 until today it was one of the best purchases I made, the amount of sounds that the combinations of the two humbuckers have is incredible, it sounds very crystalline and very good for tones heavy. It is undoubtedly a guitar to obtain a sound to your liking since you can look for it and obtain it. The neck is very comfortable and feels very good, the quality of the materials is incredible. Something that I would perhaps change about this guitar is the Gigbag, which is of low quality, but I understand from the price that it is so, and it is appreciated that it comes with a gigbag since there are not many models on the market to buy for Headless guitars unless it's from the big S#%^berg...

Unbeatable for its price!

If you don't get along with the Strandberg's neck and do not want to spend 3 times more for a Kiesel, you can't beat it! Solid construction, amazing tones, incredible comfortable neck and fair price. You won't regret. I just wish it had more finish options.

Nice guitar and thanks to Skyler!

The guitar is very nice, lightweight and great balance, looks and feels great. A bit on the bright side but good sustain. The neck sure is thin, closer to MM Majesty.
The slanted frets are not for everyone. Also the frets are so beveled at the edges and the string spacing is such that it's easy for the high E string to slide off the fretboard. Seems like it's an issue with the Q series, or at least the 7-string models. If you thought of swapping out for any gauge lighter than 10, it will probably make it too hard to play. But with 10s and maybe raising the action it could be ok, but still may need technique adjustment.
The best part of my experience was working with Skyler Giordano. No BS kinda guy, knowledgeable, solution-oriented, prompt to respond, made me feel taken care of above and beyond.
THANK YOU, Skyler!

Love it

I love this thing. First seven string, and boy what a correct choice I made. A lot of tonal options, the slanted frets were not difficult to get used to at all. And sweetwater, of course, was a breeze to work with. Highly recommend.
