The IGS iQ505 500-Series Equalizer is a fully parametric equalizer extremely squished into the 500-series module and is absolutely the perfect equalizer to use for all sorts of applications, and especially for notching and carving in very specific places.

This device is a 5 band EQ with overlapping bands and 12 dB boost or cut. The equalization range is extremely wide, starting from the sub-bass, up to 24kHz which usually is called the Air. Every band is equipped with the Q knob which is responsible for the quality of each filter. It is an analog piece of gear with electronically balanced inputs and outputs with modern THAT chips. Together it gives a small and powerful device useful in any studio application.

The Sound
The IGS iQ505 is definitely one of the cleanest sounding equalizers that IGS offers. While they wouldn't say that it has as much character as some of the other, warmer sounding EQs that they have offered, it cannot be compared when it comes to clarity and transparency.

    As far as I knwo this is teh only 5 band parametric EQ in a 500 series that exists. Its is transparent but I hear a little analog flavor when I use it which is a good thing. I have a stereo pair. I use them on two different channel strips I created. My only complaint is getting my fingers in there to turn the knobs but its worth it to not get those digital artifacts on my track from a digital EQ. But how else can you get 5 bands into a units like this? You have to squeeze then in so it's not design flaw. It is what it is. I also have compared the low shelf to a digital HPF and if you dial in the Q right and go -12db you can get this to be a HPF. Like the same with LPF I just haven't tried it.
