Gahhh this series!!!! This series wrecked me in the best possible way! Hunter and Lennon both had mountains to climb and tragedy to overcome to get to their HEA. Kennedy Fox broke my heart into a million pieces in the process and then slowly put it back together. Just trust me when I say…. YOU NEED THIS BOOK IN YOUR LIFE!!!!!

Due persone si incontrano una sera, per caso, in un bar: ecco, direte voi, cari Magnetici, la solita storia di una notte che poi si trascina per tutto il libro. E invece no.Hunter e Lennon si conoscono ma lei, quella sera, finirà non solo a ballare con Brandon, uno dei migliori amici di Hunter, ma ne diventerà anche la ragazza.La storia di Lennon con Brandon, infatti, si svilupperà e andrà avanti proprio davanti agli occhi di Hunter, che reputerà sempre e solo la sua esitazione di quella sera la vera responsabile di tutto.
«Non ho mai trovato il modo di gestire bene ciò che provo per lei, ma sono riuscito a nascondere questi sentimenti, a chiuderli sottochiave, e adesso continuo a essere l’amico di cui ha bisogno. Sono attanagliato dal rimorso, sapendo che ho sempre provato questi sentimenti per lei, ma sto cercando di non pensarci, dato che non li ho mai espressi e non lo farei mai. Sono sempre stato bravissimo a mantenere questo segreto.»
E’ davvero un protagonista di quelli che ti fanno stringere il cuore, Hunter: lui, che resta sempre a margine, che ricorda costantemente a se stesso di non essere degno di lei, mostrandosi apparentemente e spesso superficiale sempre e comunque.Ma l’inaspettato evolversi della storia, rivelerà non solo la sua vera e generosa natura, ma anche il suo non essere il donnaiolo e basta che Lennon ha sempre visto e creduto. Il dolore, che li farà avvicinare in modo diverso, creerà un legame nuovo tra loro: entrambi sono convinti che non potranno mai essere nulla di diverso l’uno per l’altra se non un sostegno, un amico.
«Mi fido ciecamente di questo Hunter e vedo che anche lui è combattuto quanto me.»
Da qui partirà il loro nuovo flebile legame e , anche se il libro termina con un cliffhanger poiché parte di un duetto, siamo sicuri che l’evolversi della loro storia ci riserverà grandi sorprese.

L’arrivo inaspettato della ex di Hunter, con una notizia bomba, ha chiuso il primo capitolo del duetto lasciando lui e Lennon non solo basiti ma anche lontani più che mai.Quel flebile filo che si era stabili to tra loro si è improvvisamente spezzato, in modo inaspettato e violento e li lascia senza la forza di riavvicinarsi di nuovo.
«Ad ub certo punto in questi tre mesi, è diventato il mio migliore amico. Più di un migliore amico, mi fido ciecamente di lui; non vedo l’ora di passare del tempo con lui e chiedergli com’è andata la sua giornata.»
Lennon non ha trovato solo un aiuto costante in lui, ma un appoggio incondizionato in tutti i sensi, senza se e senza ma, e al tempo stesso ha iniziato a capire davvero i suoi sentimenti.
Quello che è stato tenuto a bada per due anni oramai Hunter non vuole né può più nasconderlo: il semplice bisogno anche solo di abbracciarla lo manifesta sempre e comunque, e Lennon ha percepito la sua sincerità.La loro improvvisa lontananza e l’inaspettata novità sono un po' il centro di questo secondo volume, e ci mostrano due personaggi in crescita, diversi da quelli letti nel primo: lei, consapevole del suo cuore ancora spezzato perla morte di Brandon, capisce che Hunter è forse l’unico in grado di ripararlo davvero, con la sua vicinanza; lui, è conscio che una parte di lei sarà sempre innamorata di Brandon, e per questo la ama ancora di più.
«Ogni volta che mi ha detto che ci sarebbe stato per me, ci ho creduto con tutta me stessa. Dentro di me, sapevo che le sue parole erano sincere, e il motivo è questo.»
Una determinazione che caratterizza ancora di più il protagonista maschile, che cambia il loro rapporto, e che resta sempre tale anche davanti ai genitori di Lennon, che faranno molta fatica ad accettare tutta la situazione per il loro credo religioso.Una storia che negli ultimi capitoli, con molta calma, ci porta avanti nel tempo, quasi a voler accompagnare i due protagonisti nella loro quotidianità.Infine è doveroso un ringraziamento alle autrici, che ci hanno contattato in anteprima italiana per la lettura di questo duetto.

I’ve read Hunter & Lennon’s story before but with this new formatted version of one full length novel, I have to say I loved it even more!
Hunter & Lennon’s story is an emotional rollercoaster to say the least. The push and pull these two have is insane! Right from the beginning you see why Hunter is the way he is towards Lennon, but when tragedy strikes holy SWOON! This man had me wrapped around his finger with all the ways he took care of Lennon while dealing with his own issues.
There were definitely times I wanted to reach in and shake their heads and tell them to just finally get together. But when they do… it’s hot, it’s heavy, it’s explosive and so meant to be.
I loved how they both got past their grief, learned more about one another and the relationships they have with Lennon’s sisters and Hunter’s friends. It’s the best family and friend dynamic and had me laughing at so many moments!

Loved reading Hunter & Lennon’s story.

The pacing of this book just doesn’t work for me. You know due to the blurb that our fmc boyfriend passed away. What I didn’t expect was for him to be in the book for a solid 100pages and for there to be scenes of their romance. For me that just didn’t work. I didn’t see the point of having a character you knew was going to be killed off in it for a full 100 pages.
For me as well there was a lot of chunks of text that were not needed and didn’t add to the story. The story itself is not bad in the slightest, I do think the editing tho brings it down.
I think the time which the characters move and deal with grief is really great and it felt like a really respectful and accurate representation of grief. For the sake of the story and not dragging it out though, I think there could have been more, quicker. Or perhaps some more major time jumps do the story didn’t drag.
Based on other books I have read by this author I expected more spice so that was a let down for me.

This book right here had me on an emotional roller coaster the entire time.
It started off fun and flirty to sad and depressing. Then it came back around to feeling like maybe this could be it. They could live happily ever after.
Hunter falling for Lennon at first sight to literally hating her the next time he saw her. But with good reason.
Lennon went freaking through it! That girl could not catch a break.
Hunter and Lennon leaned on one another and I was rooting for him. I get it’s awkward and an unfortunate situation but he genuinely loved her since day one.
This book will live in my mind rent free and I will definitely continue the series once I’m okay enough to do so. lol it took an emotional toll on me🥴
