We are taken on a journey where one girls discovery to who she is or what she may be can take her to a place where secrets and lies surround her in every turn. She's meeting people that have known her, her entire life and yet she's lost amongst them and doesn't know how to survive. All she's known is of no matter. She now has a new life. A new her. And fighting to keep this new family alive she surrenders to what could cost them everything.
Every page was full of excitement. I love when an author drops you into their imagination and you have no choice but to grab on and go along for the ride. These are the kinds of books that keep you up all night to read. The kind of book that leaves a big smile on your face and you're happier just for reading it. If you enjoy fantasy and the supernatural. If you like to get lost in other worlds that have creatures that we didn't know existed...then this book is for you! I give this book my thumbs up!
This is a book that I have mixed feelings about. For the most part, I enjoyed the story. The story line is interesting and some of the characters are fantastic. But there was a bit of insta-love that just didn't ring true for me, especially when it comes hot on the heels of Emma's loss of her parents and total upheaval of her life. There is a reason for it, which I understand, but it just seemed a little too easy. I just don't like the whole "there's a hot guy, so let's have our world revolve around him" kind of thing.
That being said, I enjoyed the plot of the story. I love a good "good versus evil" battle and this book has all of that, mixed with some great characters. I loved the Guardians, especially Dom! He was hilarious, sweet, and obviously fiercely loyal. Often, the Guardians seemed like competitive, good-hearted frat boys, rather than warriors of the world.
The mythology of the book mixes a bit of the real with a bit of the created. I like that the traditional mythology forms the basis of the world of Hidden Wings but it is changed or added to in ways that make the story more contemporary.
My Recommendation: All in all, this is a good story with some great characters!
Emma Wise is a seventeen year old girl whose life has just been turned upside down. Both her parents died in a car crash, while Emma survived. She is then sent to Alaska to live with her only surviving relative,an aunt that she didn't even know existed. If this isn't enough, strange things begin to happen to her when she meets her very handsome escort. Evil creatures begin to put their sights on her. Can she survive to make a new life? What secrets will she reveal about her mysterious aunt? Who is this mesmerizing escort?
I really can't express how much I love this story. I have been looking forward to reading this book since I read the blurb for it. Emma's character surprised me with her spunk and determination. I think if I had experienced her loss, I would have curled up into a ball and just shut everything off. Emma found strength and courage in spite of the loss and changes in her life. I couldn't help but like her.
Kade...now he is my cup of tea! Handsome, protective, funny and did I say handsome? The chemistry between Kade and Emma was evident from their first meeting. I kept crossing my fingers that some how they would get a chance to be together. I am not going to say too much on this because I do not want to spoil it for anyone.
Please hurry Cameo Renae with the sequel. I need more!! Great book, great story and lovable characters!

Emma loses her parents in a tragic accident then freefalls into a horrifying nightmare of events only made bearable by Kade, someone she has an instant connection with, and his friends. The book then goes on to introduce the reader to the world of the Fallen, Nephilim and darklings.
The only problem I had with it was its length. I read it within a couple of hours and although I'm a very fast reader, for me it was too short. It also means that you need to buy the other books to get to the end of the story.
That aside, it's really good and suitable for teenagers up.
In fact it was far superior to that novel. After reading both you can see that there is greater depth in Cameo's writing with this book than her other series.
Emma - the protagonist, is the only survivor of a major car crash in which she loses both her parents. From that moment her world is turned upside down and she is left with no-one to care for her. That is, until she discovers she has an Aunt who wants to take guardianship of her until she is 18.
However, she has to leave everything behind her and move to Alaska. It's not what she wants but because she is still a minor, she has no choice.
As the book unfolds, we learn more about Emma and what she really is.
I wont reveal the storyline as it could give away too much information, but as you read, you feel what she feels. You want, what she wants. And when I hit the last page I almost groaned with displeasure because I have to wait until the next book in this series comes out to find out what happens with Emma and everyone else she is with.
An excellent read by all standards! Hurry on up with the next one please, I want to know what happens!
