These are our 2nd set of small objective lens binoculars. The other Nikon set is quite good too, but the Zeiss are definitely a step up with a wider and brighter views. The construction, the feel in your hand, is also superior. These are not the cheapest, nor are they the best of the best, but they are quite nice and a great value. Try them, you won’t be disappointed.
Overall, they possess very nice ergonomics, have natural color presentation, crystalline resolution that is real sharp and bright, with very good contrast views. Their FOV (field of view), whose sweet spot extends to within 10% of their wide 357ft limit, has a comfortable and stereoptic DOF (depth of field) . Hinge tensions are perfect, and the focuser is fast, going from close focus (mine's about 5ft) CW to infinity in just 1.25 turns. Eye cup adjustments lock fully in (for eye glass wearers) and fully out (non-eye glass wearers). My vision is 20\15 and with the very comfortable eye cups fully extended and resting on my brow, I can align the small EP (exit pupil=3.1) with my pupils, gaining a full unobstructed sigh picture! With its ED glass, CA (chromatic aberrations) is well controlled and I find day light\low light viewing to be bright, natural and enjoyable! Diopter is set on the front dial (for the right barrel) and has enough resistance to stay put.
Made in Japan for Zeiss, they offer a lot of features and performance at a great value point. These will make great travel companions and will be back-ups for my full sized field excursion instruments!

Their low weight makes them a good choice for long hikes.
I sent it back and told Amazon to replace it with the same model. I received the new unit two days later. The box was sealed and had none of the issues seen on the previous unit.
Image is clear edge to edge. Focus wheel is able to be used with one finger. Note that the focus wheel for the right eye is at the far end of the pivot. I have not noticed any chromatic aberration. A strap was included, as was a microfiber cleaning cloth. Lens caps are not included, but I typically wash waterproof binoculars with mild soap and running water anyway, so I don’t worry much about dust and oils.
It is small (see pix) and, although not as light-weight as I wanted, the quality is so good, I've kept them. (Too heavy to put in a woman's light-weight jacket, though.) It feels really well made and durable. And the best is the extra light it lets in compared to my old binocs. I find that I am using these binocs a lot for general birding. Heads up - it comes with a neck strap but no protective carrying bag - and the little carrying case is a bit bulky. Still, highly recommend!!!

Coms: American optics, such as Vortex, have improved American quality, Zeiss doesn't blink when it comes to superior quality.
Conclusion: If you want the best long-range vision spend the money. You'll appreciate the difference and own them forever.
