Well these headphones helped change that, and made the effort to break out the PSVR experience just one step easier, and better!
After trying my friend's Valve Index HMU, one thing I really liked was the speakers that hang down (off-ear headphones), so I went looking for something I could add to my PSVR and not have to have either 1) Over the ear hadphones (always a small nuisance to get on and off over the HMU) 2) the supplied ear buds as those aren't really sanitary to share with others, and, frankly uncomfortable.
First off: These will never sound better than over the ear headphones. They let surrounding sound in. BUT, they still sound better (to me) than ear buds, thanks to their larger sized driver. They can push a lot of volume, and will help you still feel immersive. But if your kids or significant other (or pets) need you for something? They can actually talk to you, and you'll hear them, rather than them suddenly tapping you and scaring you half to death at the sneaky ninja-attack that just took place. I actually consider this a plus for me. Do they have a lot of bass? No, they do not, but the audio quality is still really clear, and, again, doesn't break immersion.
They are comfortable. I have a friend that is absolutely opposed to on-ear headphones. I don't blame him, it feels like someone is constantly pressing on your ears. I share his sentiment, but until him, I never thought about on-ear headphones and why I tend to avoid them. Unlike the Valve Index's off-hear headphones, these do TOUCH your ears. When I showed him these, he was immediately turned off on the idea of them knowing that they will touch your ears. I can report, that unlike on-ear headphones, they do not PRESS against your hears. And, upon reflection, I'd say that's really the big issue with on-ear headphones: the constant pressure against your ears. Probably a big no-no for people who's ears stick out some. These sit very comfortably against your ears.
The material they are made from is a faux rubber. Very soft. I can see these being an issue in the future, though, in regards to their longevity. Seems like the same type of material that cracks easily with age and just rips apart quickly. We'll see, though.
Cabling, though, is somewhat of an issue, though I wouldn't blame these headphones, necessarily. They're made for both V1 & V2 PSVR headsets. I have a V2, so I bundled the excess cabling together with and using a velcro strap, bound it to the PSVR cable, so I only have to feel the weight of one cable. I then pushed the cable into the groove between the back plastic and padding on the bottom side, and used a little electrical tape to secure it. Not pretty (not hideous, though). It is the bottom side, and no one will see it. I left a little slack on each side for both headphones, so they could be adjusted by the wearer. Securing the cable to the back made it so it didn't dangle down the bottom, and made it MUCH easier to get the headset on and off easily, without having to makes sure the cable was in the right spot.
THE WORST THING about these headphones is that, without taking them off, I can no longer use the awesome portable headset case I own. So I bought a stand, and will probably make a dust cover to keep the thing protected. OH WELL, small penance to having a better headset experience.
I'd highly recommend other PSVR users to get these, when they're in stock. They should have been standard, in my opinion, and we'll see, I suppose, what the new PSVR (that's rumored to be out near PS5's launch) will do for standard audio options.
[NOTE: Now that the PS5 has subtracted one USB port from what the PS4 had (?!!) the use of headphones is even less possible because they do require a USB dongle.]
Since I recently had to replace a faulty PSVR headset I decided to splurge a bit on an extra like these clip-ons. Reviews about sound-quality were mixed, and I saw that some people felt the speakers didn't fit snugly enough, so I knew I was taking a bit of a risk.
Turns out they're just fine. These things clip on smartly, are easy to adjust to reach your ears, make putting the headset on-and-off FAR more convenient, and the sound is basically on par with the earbuds. So, yeah -- I'm quite pleased w/ the whole thing.
I'd say the biggest thing to be aware of is the WIRE. Left to hang off on it's own this would absolutely bug me, because I don't want some wire tickling my shoulders or neck when I'm worriedly creeping down a dank hallway in Resident Evil 7 (or any other time, obviously).
The fix for this was cheap and just took a little thought:
I used a few plastic stick-on clips and coiled the wires in a way that doesn't interfere with the tightening dial or anything else. I've included some photos here to show what I did, since it did take a little puzzling to reach an ideal configuration and maybe they'll streamline the process for you.
The end result is a super hassle-free headset that let's you take super-speedy bathroom breaks between FIREWALL matches without compromising sound-quality compared to the earbuds.
I hope you have the same experience as me, and I hope my wiring pics help out! :)
[** EDIT: After a few months of use I noticed some redness and irritation of my ears, so I covered the ear cushions with trimmed micro-fiber wipes, and they’ve been perfectly abrasion-free ever since. **]

Bei der Soundqualität gibt es nichts auzusetzen.
There is no added pressure on the ears and no risk of accidentally losing an earbud or moving the entire headphones and thereby moving the VR headset accidentally.
Sound quality is excellent and because they don't fully cover the ears, they still allow for some outside sound to pass through if the VR is set to a lower volume which helps when people want to get your attention.
I wish I had bought these earlier.
Old Review: I have the new VR headset where the headphone jack is on the VR headset itself and thus the wire length for the bionic is way too long. I did wrap up the wires but there are now wires where none use to be. To put on the VR headset you have to grab all the wires along with the VR headband to wiggle your head in between the mess. I tried wrapping the wires up alongside the VR headband but because of the expanding headset band we cannot simply tie the wires to the headset. I was really doubtful on the quality of these headphones but since we are just playing VR games the sound quality turn out quite nice . It rested on my ears without making me feel like I was wearing a headphone and the sound quality was good enough to make my game immersive. I like the fact that I can just push the headphones up without feeling like I am removing my headphones entirely or popping out my ear phones and having them dangle beneath my ear. I would have given this headphone a 5 star if the wires weren't so cumbersome; remember that with the Version 2 VR headset the earplugs are nice and tidy on the headset already, so adding this headset is almost a step backwards in terms of tidiness. Although the headphones function well, I am not a fan of the rabbit ears but it probably has to be this way if we wanted the ability to push up the headphones. Very nice addition to your PS VR gear.
