I loved the previous books so I was very excited to pick up Hard to Lose, let me just say Chase Kincade and Gunner (Ryan) Camden’s story was everything I expected and so much more. I was drawn in and captivated from the first page to the last line, this book ticked all my boxes and I highly recommend it to all romance lovers. Chase comes across a letter from a solider that should have been delivered many years ago, it’s from a young Ryan Camden saying thank you for your interest in me but I have to decline your offer of acting as my agent and helping me make it in the world of baseball. This letter intrigues Chase and she decides it’s time to track down the man who in his youth has an arm any pitcher would love but when she comes across Gunner aka Ryan in a bar in the middle of nowhere it’s not baseball that springs to mind, she finds herself falling for the man she is instantly attracted too. Gunner has built a life for himself that he is more than happy with but the stunning woman who walked into his bar intrigues him, the chemistry is sizzling and the attraction is instant but what will happen when Gunner finds out what really bought Chase into his bar that night ..... This book has all the feels, it’s an emotional read with just the right mixture of love, passion and angst, it’s a book that will certainly be on my best reads of 2021 because I knew from the first chapter that I was reading so every special, I knew from the start this story and it’s characters where going to stay with me long after I read the final words. Loved everything about this great read.

Each book in this series is more incredible than the previous. Bromberg raises the bar with each story making them even more refreshing, captivating and beautiful. She has a way of sweeping me up into her stories and making me care for her rich and complex characters that are so vivid and real. Hard to Lose is a fun, touching, and completely engrossing love story and Chase and Gunner are magical! Chase suddenly receives a letter that was mailed to her family sports management company 5 years earlier. She is completely captivated by this 'baseball player turned soldier', who sent it. Since it is coming up on the anniversary of losing her mother, she needs to get away, and what better distraction than to find this mystery man. Gunner used baseball to find peace and comfort after losing his father, and he was extremely talented. But his homelife was heartbreaking, so he joined the armed services instead of playing professional ball. When he is sent over seas, he realizes he will never be the same and lets go of his baseball dreams. He is a civilian now and found a new calling and passion. He never thought he could open himself up to love until a beautiful city girl walks into his bar and takes his breath away. Chase and Gunner have an instant attraction and without reason begin a passionate affair. They have fun together, and teach each other how to let go and really live again. The more time they spend together, the more their hearts open up to the possibility of more together. But neither really knew who the other was at first, and as secrets come to light, will their love be strong enough to forgive the other? Omg I absolutely loved Gunner and Chase together! They helped each other heal, grow stronger, find peace, and learn to give themselves fully to love. They are so perfect together, and have a soul deep passion and love. I also loved catching up with Chases family and meeting Gunner's close friends who are all protective, loyal, and unconditionally supportive. I absolutely loved everything about this irresistibly fun, emotional, breathtaking and sizzling romance.

4.25 stars-- HARD TO LOSE is the fourth instalment in K. Bromberg’s contemporary, adult PLAY HARD erotic, romance series focusing on the Kincade sisters who work for the family owned Kincade Sports Management (KSM). This is youngest sister Chase Kincade, and US Army Vet/bar owner Ryan ‘Gunner’ Camden’s story line. HARD TO LOSE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Told from dual first person perspectives (Ryan and Chase) HARD TO LOSE follows the building romance and relationship between Chase Kincade, and US Army Vet/bar owner Ryan ‘Gunner’ Camden. Several years earlier Ryan Camden had a promising baseball career but a night of drinking influenced by a need for revenge found Ryan enlisting in the US army where his life would be forever changed. Fast forward to present day wherein Ryan, now a bar owner in the small town of Destiny Falls, a town that caters to military families and retired vets, comes face to face with the woman that will break his heart. Enter Chase Kincade. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Chase and Ryan, and the potential fall-out as Ryan discovers that Chase’s visit to Destiny Falls was all a ruse. Chase Kincade needed something to push KSM over the top. A letter arrived, five years too late, but a letter that pulled our heroine to look for the sender, a young man whose baseball career ended before it began. Only know a name and a destination, Chase heads to Destiny Falls where she will fall in love with a hero, who continues to pay for sins of the past. The relationship between Chase and Gunner is predicated upon a lie. Chase is in Destiny Falls looking for a soldier whose chance at fame ended when duty called. Meeting Gunner gave Chase thoughts for a future but Chase knew her time in the small town would end when her mission was complete. Gunner never expected to fall in love but falling for Chase was easy as ‘apple pie’ ;) but secrets revealed meant everything about his relationship with Chase was nothing more than a lie. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. The secondary and supporting characters include Chase’s sisters Dekker, Brexton and Lennox, as well as their father Kenyon Kincade; sports agent Finn Sanderson; army veteran Richard aka ‘Nix’. We get a quick glimpse at Ryan’s long suffering mother, and a step-father whose out to destroy the son he never wanted. Finn Sanderson’s story is next in HARD TO LOVE. HARD TO LOSE is a story of family, friendships, betrayal and loss. A story of grief and suffering, love and understanding, forgiveness and happily ever after. The premise is emotional and heart breaking; the romance is provocative and captivating; the characters are broken, colorful, healing and lost.
