Classic '60s Vibe That's Fun to Play

The Newark St. Series Starfire V semi-hollowbody electric guitar offers the feel and style of a popular 1960s icon. The guitar's Soft-U neck profile is comfortable to play regardless of musical style. A pair of LB-1 "Little Bucker" pickups with their own tone and volume controls fine-tune your sound for a tone that is as distinct as the guitar's looks. And the Starfire V offers the smooth bending and pitch control you'll only get from a great vibrato tailpiece. The Starfire V is the guitar you want if retro is your thing.

Based on a classic

Based on the Starfire from the '60s, this Guild Starfire V semi-hollowbody electric guitar packs all the intricacies that made the original such a popular guitar during the rock revolution. The semi-hollowbody's arched top and back make for a seductive look and feel to the instrument. The open-back, vintage-style Grover Sta-Tite tuning machines recall the originals, but with the tuning stability of a modern guitar. And the individual tone and volume controls for each pickup and master volume knob lets you dial in endless tonal shades.

Mahogany thinline construction

The semi-hollow thinline design of the Starfire V blends the benefits of a solidbody and hollowbody electric guitar. The hollow wings offer more warmth and detail to your sound, while the centerblock in the center helps fight feedback at loud performance volumes. The guitar's body is made of mahogany for a warm, smokey tone. And the 3-piece mahogany/maple/mahogany neck is ultra stable and adds attack and note fundemental to your sound. The Starfire V blends the best of both worlds effortlessly.

LB-1 Anti-Hum pickups

The Guild Starfire V is outfitted with a pair of hum-canceling LB-1 "Little Bucker" pickups. Originally designed in the 1960s, the Little Buckers were an alternative to single-coil pickups. The output sits somewhere between a single-coil and a vintage-style PAF humbucker. They offer more jangle than a PAF but a little more warmth than a traditional single-coil. Factor in the 3-way pickup selector, and you'll discover why Sweetwater players are loving the Starfire V.

Guild Starfire V Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Thinline semi-hollowbody based on the '60s Guild Starfire
  • LB-1 pickup serves up rich, vintage-style tones
  • Exceptional tone and looks from laminated mahogany back, sides, and top
  • 3-piece mahogany/maple/mahogany neck
  • Guild vibrato tailpiece offers vintage warble
  • Grover Sta-Tite tuners give you excellent tuning stability

Beautiful Guitar

It's a great guitar, feels amazing and I love playing it. I'm by no means a professional so I dont have any anecdotes to make but as a personal guitar I play at home, I love it. My other is a fender strat texas special, and it's a completely different feel. I love them both for different reasons. I was initially worried I wouldn't like the ergonomics of it, but it feels great to play. For me, it's a perfect alternative guitar.

Can I just copy the last guy's review!?!?

Nah...I won't do that, but I'm equally ecstatic about this guitar!!

Disclaimer:
I've been drooling over a white Gibson ES-335 since first seeing Alex Lifeson sporting one decades ago but couldn't afford one then, and still can't in 2018. In fact, I've never gotten around to putting an ES-335 in my hands but just can't imagine it feeling or sounding $3,508 dollars better... than this beauty!!
I've heard it classified as a 'poor man's ES-335'. So be it. I feel 'richer' just owning it!!
Guitar arrived set up perfectly, and perfectly in tune out of the box!
Amazing!
I can't wait to get home everyday to play it!
Haven't felt like that since I was 5 and had just gotten a new puppy!!

Highly recommended!!

Dream Guitar

First, I would like to state that I'm probably the last person who thought they would buy a semi-hollow. Second, this review is completely biased.

I freaking love this guitar and I'm so happy I bought it after about a month of drooling over it. It feels like perfection the moment you pick it up and sounds amazing even unplugged for some quiet practice time. The only issue has been with tuning stability but since this is my first Bigsby I'm willing to call it user error or it just needs more lubrication at the nut and saddles. Besides that, I'm quite content with the hours I've lost track of since purchasing this beauty and Guild will be my first stop for future purchases.
