Outstanding Jumbo Acoustic-electric from Guild

From master luthier Ren Ferguson and the designers at Guild comes the F-55E Maple — yet another stellar jumbo body acoustic-electric in their storied line. The F-55E features a solid Sitka spruce top with maple back and sides for full, varied tone that spans the high, mid, and low range. A gorgeous mahogany neck with walnut strip and ebony fingerboard offers incredible feel and response for fingerpicking as well as strumming chords. And when you are ready to plug in, an LR Baggs Anthem system is onboard for outstanding amplified tone.

Big tone

The Guild F-55E has won over legions of players for its big, big tone. The pairing of spruce and maple along with the jumbo body design delivers the kind of volume and projection that fills a room, even when unplugged. Adirondack spruce scalloped X-bracing is part of this tonewood team as well, providing incredible tonal support as well as long life to the F-55E.

Pickup design delivers incredible sound

The award-winning LR Baggs Anthem in the F-55E is a Sweetwater favorite. It features patented TRU MIC technology that blends a condenser mic with the renowned LR Baggs Element pickup, producing impeccably warm acoustic tone and a level of fidelity that leaves listeners stunned. Many who hear the LR Baggs Anthem for the first time wonder if they are listening to an acoustic being miked with a high-quality studio condenser.

That neck!

The mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard on the F-55E is a true delight to play. The "C"-shape profile sits comfortably in your hand and is easy on the fingers whether fingerpicking or strumming. Gorgeous mother-of-pearl and abalone V-block inlays add a wonderful visual touch as well.

Beautiful guitar - sounds better than it looks!

Was hesitant to purchase a collection acoustic without playing it first - when first unboxing the guitar, I was prepared to return it.

The case itself is impressive - nice croc skin imprint with a heavy duty feel. The handle has a nice grip with a squeeze - not your everyday high end guitar case. There is a Guild logo but it's not annoyingly placed or prententiously sized. With a humidifier installed and tuft threaded green lining, the case is perfectly snug for this super jumbo acoustic.

Opened the case and … wow. Such a beautiful guitar - quality craftsmanship is obvious even before holding it. Lifting out of the case - holy maple back and sides! I'm pretty picky and have returned guitars after finding traces of glue, uneven binding, dust collecting in any gaps around the nut or any indication of imperfect inlays - this instrument is flawless.

Played every fret - every string - each note as clear and crisp as the first. I've played guitar for 40 years - I wasn't prepared for the power from this guitar. It's almost like there is built in reverb - or like playing in a room with amazing acoustics. You can feel the resonance through the arched back - quite the experience.

Haven't tried the electronics yet - played through a quality pre-amp and speaker system am sure the sound will be on point.

If you've been thinking about adding an f55 to your collection - just pull the trigger - well worth the spend!

Guild F55E Maple

It took a bit over a year to receive my Guild F55E Maple, but the wait was worth it. The instrument is beautiful, plays and sounds amazing. I have had a Guild D-50 since 1975, but I have always wanted a Guild Jumbo. This instrument does not disappoint. Also sounds great plugged in. The service from Sweetwater was excellent, and they kept me apprised of the wait. Larry Reed and Natasha Berning gave me excellent service.

Everything you thought it would be

This guitar has it all: looks, build quality, and playability. Guild didn't skimp on a single thing when they built this thing.

This beautiful blonde jumbo just exudes pure craftsmanship and beauty. And if that wasn't enough, this thing plays almost as easy as any electric guitar. It comes set up perfectly from the Guild factory; no need to get it done after you receive it.

The second I had the chance I put this sucker in Open C#... and man does it sing. The low end is incredible, and almost reminds you of low key hits on a grand piano. And even still, the highs are still absolutely bursting. This guitar has an incredible amount of power... you'll notice almost immediately how much volume this thing has compared to any given dread. Any yet it is still able to play low-key lullabies to you when you're quietly playing on the couch at night.

It truly is the best guitar I've ever played, and I've played quite a few models. If you're on the fence... just do it. You will absolutely not be disappointed. This guitar is worth every penny.

Guild F-55E Maple

This guitar gives you the best of both worlds, the resonant bass of a jumbo guitar with the succinct brightness of a maple body with a spruce top. The arch flamed maple back was constructed from the original Guild press from 1985 that was resurrected for the new manufacturing shop in California. Visually, this guitar is stunning and has the sound to match. Strumming produces lush volume and picking provides clean notes. I have yet to amplify this guitar and am looking forward to my new acoustic amp from Sweetwater to check it out but the acoustic tone is so wonderful unplugged I'm enjoying getting to know the guitar that way at the moment.

The hardware is all top notch, the Gotoh tuners are smooth and responsive, the fretboard inlays are gorgeous and the flamed maple grain is stunning. The jumbo body sits well and the neck is very comfortable in the hand. All in all a joy to behold as well as play!

Amazing

I have owned many fine guitars in the past and currently own a beutiful Bourgeios and a McPherson Sable. I received my F55e Maple last week and all I can say is WOW! As much as I love my other guitars (which are amazing) the Guild is the one I want to play. I can't put it down! I got the setup from Sweetwater and told them I wanted the action as low as possible. It arrived perfectly set-up. It sounds terrific and I would put it up against any Martin dreadnaught. I can't say enough about it. Also, kudos to Patrick for the amazing customer service!
